The 2008 sequel Another Cinderella Story FAILS in comparison to the original 2004 Hilary Duff movie, and I'll explain why! In fact, this movie was only the second in a long franchise including "A Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song" ; "A Cinderella Story: If the Shoe Fits" ; and "A Cinderella Story: Christmas Wish." They get progressively more formulaic, so let's start with this reboot featuring Selena Gomez, Jane Lynch, and the iconic single "Tell Me Something I Don't Know." You know I love you but please please please don't promote this.< cerebral). They are actually under federal investigation right now for allowing people to make multiple accounts to obtain more than 1 controlled substance prescription as well as not helping patients in a crisis. A lot of their therapist are not qualified at all and I have heard from a lot of users they are charged for services they never get.

I know creators don’t really get a say in which ads come up on their videos, but I felt like you’d want to at least know that there keep being anti-choice ads on your videos. There has been a huge increase lately in ads on a lot of creators’ videos by Live Action, an anti-choice organization that runs misleading clips obtained by lying (that they’ve been successfully sued for), and tries to shock viewers with gory descriptions of abortion. Like I said - I know you can’t stop them, but I also know you care about abortion rights and bodily autonomy and fighting misinformation, and that you might not be aware that your viewers are seeing this BS on your excellent content, so I wanted to just put that out there. Thank you for everything you do, Nick, you are a ray of sunshine ❤️

Every time I see ads for that 'company' I cringe. I work at CVS and I'm so glad they officially stopped filling Cerebral prescriptions because people caught on they could abuse them and it became too easy to get. Witnessing Adderall abuse broke my heart.

Yes the original is superior but I think we can all agree that the dance studio scene and the tango scene are iconic. The two way mirror? The in sync dancing? The way Selena lifted herself using only the top of her heel? I’m sorry but that’s history right there

I was involved in a car accident years ago and one of my eyes are misaligned. That may be why people recognize me in a mask. But to be fair, I've showed up to places in shades, and some people didn't recognize me. I mean, when I have a mustache I'm pretty recognizable. But trust me, different people can be recognized by different traits.

Yesss I can't stand the main conflict being a total misunderstanding which could just be solved by characters having ONE conversation like normal people. It just feels cheap and unrealistic which makes for a frustrating viewing experience imo

With the dress, they could've had the stepsisters sabotage her original dress (not like it hasn't been done before) then forcing her to reluctantly wear the red dress, which then catches the guy's eye, thereby the dress sabotage explicitly backfires on the sisters. Cliche, but it works.

omg as a ballet dancer, SO painful to watch! edit: also no, lmao no studio i've ever been inside has a one way mirror perfectly situated on the opposite side of the main mirrors within the dance room. if there are any "one way mirrors" they're probably ones that are tinted on one side so parents can see inside but student can't see out.

@@dancincoolkid yeah, I've only experienced the "parent viewing" window/mirror, however i did do dance training in a mall for a year and we had full-length windows that were reflective on our side, however they were adjacent to the bar so there was no pressing up against the window for choreo lol. I also find with the two way mirrors, you can still see people outside. It's no secret when people are watching for a cool move but I'm only there to jazz run to every corner waiting for warm ups lol

funny story. when i was 7 my brother got hit by a car and he’s fine and all but my parents spent a couple weeks in the hospital with him and so my other brother and i stayed with friends while they were away. my friend and i watched this movie pretty much daily and would NOT stop singing the song. honestly, a massive bop

After my school re-opened, I was able to recognize people wearing a mask covering their lower face after seeing them once a week on a computer screen. Meanwhile, people in these types of movies can't recognize a girl they've known for years who's only covering the area around her eyes. I love adding the masquerade balls to Cinderella adaptations, but the makeover really needs to be more dramatic if we're supposed to believe no one knows who the mystery girl is. Or, ya know...just cover more of her face.

While you're at it, you might as well continue the horror with Another Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song starring Lucy Hale. It's got everything - campy stepmom with a southerne belle accent, token bff, autotune, bad lipsyncing, and songs you don't wanna admit you like but totally end up singing by the end. Oh, and did I mention Lucy Hale? At least with this one they kinda sorta tried to change some aspects of the story while staying true to the most basic storyline.

I used to live with my grandmother. She was obsessed with the first three Cinderella Story movies. She watched all of them in reverse order like sixty times a week. The “magical Negro” tropes are painful in this movie. The magical Negro is always vulnerable to, and simultaneously the happy companion of, the white main character. So, we have a literally magical bestie and a gleeful assistant. What hurts most is that I have played these kinds of roles in the lives of some of my white friends. I have a suspicion that white supremacy has conditioned white people to unconsciously expect this dynamic. It’s almost like a projected “best case scenario” for Black people. I have some ideas about the historical background of this. I wish I had the guts to make a YT video 😂

This is the perfect opportunity to recommend another Drew Seeley musical. I Kissed a Vampire, also starring Lucas Grabeel and most of the cast's spouses and siblings because there was clearly no budget. There's an iTunes miniseries and a full-length movie that rather than be a continuation is a remake with different versions of the songs. Oof. Also, the never-labeled drinks at my high school dances were in water coolers, with an adult always hovering nearby to make sure no one spiked them.

Let's not forget that the first modern Cinderella movie was with Brandy and Whitney Houston. Which was definitely the best. Second best was the Hillary Duff one. None of the others will ever compare to those two.

The whole Bob Fosse bit and when you said “Pseudo-Menudo kidz bop factory mill” KILLED me! I love your breakdowns, because it’s not just reactionary commentary, every video has very cleverly written insights on the film, and the way you break down the screenplay, the casting choices, and more of the things that go into making a film work are really unique! Every time I watch one of these I’m like why not just have Nick make a movie!

I remember that movie from my childhood. I still have the DVD somewhere in my house. Even as a kid, Selena and Drew's dynamic seemed kinda awkward to me. The most interesting character was Jane Lynch being the adopted mother.

i was like 9 when this came out, I was so sad I couldn't see it play on TV (had an early bedtime and I couldn't watch cable on weekdays.) So i saw the masquerade scene on youtube and I thought it was gonna be good. Once I finally saw the movie i was SO disappointed. It didn't live up to expectations. Drew Seely looked good and his songs were catchy. I listen to them to this day.

Just started your vid and I wanted to mention how much it means to me that you consistently provide captions for your videos even when they are as long as this one. I watch so many youtubers with bigger followings than you (not a dig, i think that’s important because bigger following=>larger income stream=>more ability to hire someone to caption their content) that have no captions at all besides what is auto-generated!! It's always been undeniably clear (and also amusing) to me that every new iteration of "Cinderella Story" movies just uses the previous movie for source material...not the original story. The further down the chain you go, the less recognizable it is even as Cinderella

Fun fact: Drew also filled in for some of Sterling Knight's singing in Starstruck. I think only "Hero" is in Sterling's voice and the rest is Drew. Apparently Sterling was casted super late and didn't have time to record most of the songs, so once again we had Drew singing for another lead guy. I wonder if they only got him to do the voice and not actually be the male lead due to his age or smth

No actually, you have the identities mixed up. The guy who did the singing for Sterling is a completely different Drew. His name is "Drew Ryan Scott." Drew Seeley only did the singing for Zac Efron in the early HSM movies.
