Jersey Mike's is what Blimpie should have been. I remember them from the 80s and when I first had a jersey mikes sandwich the memories started flooding back
I always loved Blimpie when I lived in NYC, then they started spending more time weighing your 2 pieces of meat and one slice of cheese, that it became a total turn-off . I now go to Jersey Mike's and they are totally awesome and that's an understatement. I'm addicted to very fresh ingredients and outstanding sandwich combos. Yes, they're a bit pricey but worth every penny. It's a shame about Blimpie, but you can't expect a customer to stand around while you weigh every ingredient in their sandwich, it's ridiculous.
i friggin' loved Blimpe's back in the day. Found one locally a couple years ago and went there , finding them as good as I remembered. Sadly, right after that it closed! Clearly inferior to Jersey MIke's but I will always have a warm spot for Blimpie's. The Blimpie Best is a significant part of my past! I miss it.
My favorite sub shop was called "Sub Port". It was on Fletcher Avenue in North Tampa. The main reason I went there was to play "Defender", an arcade game. I was the best for years! Until my friend Dan came in and put up a score that I just couldn't top. He's been dead for years, now. I wonder who won?:)
I grew up not to far from where they were founded and old school Blimpies was awesome! They could compete with any local mom & pop in flavor. Sadly, they went downhill once they went "corporate".
Its funny how subway became the giant it is today with sad excuses of sandwich! Subway literally imitated jersey mike! Yet despite subway being of bad quality, people still buy from them! While chains that started before subway are looked down upon!
disagree. at least at one time, they offered a good mix of meat to condiments. it was my favorite chain back in college days --but that is a long time ago.
