As a royals fan I agree, this is one of the best stadiums in baseball. Makes me sad that none of the royals new downtown stadium renderings look remotely close to Busch Stadium
I did Busch Stadium and Kauffman back to back. Kauffman is older but I liked it a lot. I get why they want to replace it but I think they’ll Miss something and it’ll be like the Rangers moving into that soulless new stadium.
@@kingarthurj I think to be a good replacement for Kaufman they need to try and replicate the feel. The space-age sweeping circular design, the fountains and greenery in the outfield. Could be a beautiful stadium, if they do it right.
@@kingarthurj I've been to Busch man times and went to a cardinals @ royals game once, stadium is amazing, unlike Busch its this incredibly unique stadium with tons of things that no other ballpark does. but Busch stadium just has the location and skyline, everything about the area is good. and the ballpark village keeps getting better and better, once I stayed in the Hilton 360 hotel and even though it was very packed, the view of downtown St louis with the arch and Busch stadium was amazing, so much to do right in that little area where Busch is and I cant say the same for Kauffman.
It doesn't surprise me at all that the Cardinals' organization would have a great ballpark because they are class all the way. Interesting story, I was once on vacation in Florida and some of the Busch family were staying in the same hotel where I was staying and I believe it was maybe Ms. Busch and one of her daughters who were hanging-out by the pool where I was staying.👍
One of the other reasons you didn't cover on Busch is the staff that works there. In my experience going to Cardinals games there, the staff is always helpful, very professional and the experience is enjoyable because of it. Even though St. Louis is one of the most dangerous cities in the US, stadium security make fans feel safe when attending games and events as well. Us Cardinal fans, while passionate about our Birds, don't ever get too rowdy at games either, which is a plus.
I think the fans are underrated. People talk about Red Sox fans, Yankees fans, Cubs fans, but the Cardinals fans have a lot of baseball knowledge. I remember when Ken Griffey Jr hit his 500th homerun and the family that caught the ball gave it back to Griffey. The fans knew how great Griffey was and how much it meant for him to hit his 500th career Homerun (with the injuries he had, his career would have ended earlier).
I'm from southern California originally and a Dodgers fan. However, I lived in the St. Louis area for a year and managed to see a Cardinals game while I was there. Real nice park right in downtown. You walk into the main concourse at street level. I was in the left field bleachers. Games over and you walk right out onto the street with Ballpark Village right there if you want to hang out. The fans are a big part of it. I'm used to going to Dodger games with 45,000 people. Same situation at Busch. Big crowd, people were into the game. Wasn't like in L.A. where half the place is empty by the 8th inning because people are leaving early to avoid traffic. The game I went to went 12 innings and 90% of everyone was there to the end. Really cool vibe in there. Its a nice open park. The outfield scoreboard is pretty enormous and easy to see. Had a real good time there and would recommend a game there to any baseball fan.
As a Cardinal fan, I will say this is all mostly true except for the leaving early part. There are always a ton of families that bring the kids with them to get them out of the house and they always bounce by the 7th inning no matter what. Especially this year. I ALWAYS stay to the end of the game and I’m noticing way more people leaving early this year. Can I blame them? Not really.
NorCal-er, and been in STL for over a year, and this stadium is amazing. Giants have a great field too. Dodger stadium... Eh.. You guys have a great crowd presence, but the architecture isnt the best.
Ballpark village is so underrated. You’ve got the massive Bally sports live area with restaurants and the massive screen to watch, you got the rooftop seats, you got the hall of fame which you can even watch a game from with a cheap ticket and get food in the restaurant, and the other thing people don’t realize is it’s not a wide street so even from the other side you still feel like your in the stadium and have a great view. There’s tons of shade, it’s also a very cheap park to go to. You can spend 200 dollars to get a room that you share with only about 15 other people that’s air conditioned, unlimited food and drink, desert top of course, and you get your own caterer that will come to you and refill drinks and things. Or you could go to the bigger trophy room where you also get unlimited food and drink and you get to experience the history and see the trophies. The rooms are very nice and it may be expensive for some people but it’s 100% worth it. You can get first row outfield seats for 30 dollars. Even just the ballpark food is good. Top 3 ballpark maybe even the best In baseball. It’s better than even the newer stadiums like Atlanta and Texas (yes I’ve been to all three) people just see pictures and don’t realize just how good it is.
Dude. I’m a die hard sports fan from STL and lived in Florida most of my life Busch stadium is the best baseball atmosphere in baseball. I’ve been to almost every mlb stadium It’s the cowboys of baseball or red wings of hockey or lakers
I went to opening day this year and it is so great. I want to go every year now. Nice recognition of retired and current players, Clydesdales and beer wagon, and great crowd even tho it was really cold. So fun. ❤
Bush is one of the nicest ballparks in the majors. Sure, I love the Red Sox and Fenway is wonderful but it’s also cramped, uncomfortable and expensive. I live thirty miles from PNC in Pittsburgh. It’s a great ballpark but I could care less about the hone team. If the Ted Sox come to town I’m there but otherwise… no. St. Louis (new) is beautiful. It’s in the top six.
went to the U2 concert there where they had the big claw stage set up in the outfield and the stage facing the stands with a walkway going around behind the stage to the outfield. It was quite a sight.
Diehard Cubs fan but I’d rather go to Busch than Wrigley field. Seen concerts and baseball in the stadium. And it’s simple and as a Cubs fan it kills me to say Busch is best ballpark in MLB!
Went to Busch the other weekend to catch a game with my girlfriend. I hadn't been since they built those apartments you mentioned, and it was really cool to see people hanging out on their own balconies watching the game! It looks like the apartment building had a watch party at the pool too, there was a big crowd there from what I could see in my 1st base seats.
When we heard that they were going to tear down busch 2 many were worried given the kinds of renovations and new stadiums that were being built. We love our stadium, has old time sportsman's park (busch 1) look to it but also has a modern amenities especially with bpv. Also the view of downtown is pretty nice too.
I'm a big fan of the neighborhood around the stadium. You should research that for us. We don't have anything like that in Philly. It would be nice to have a little community around the stadium. I envision something like Cooperstown with little diners and bars and souvenir shops and things to do that have to do with baseball.
It is a great stadium located right downtown. Lots of great bars and restaurants nearby outside of the complex also. There can be parades, MLS soccer going on, and lots of other fun stuff while you are there. I like that it is open also as you get some more ventilation and don't feel like you are in an enormous bowl of some kind. Fans and staff are usually very nice and the food is great.
I went there, it’s just so cool. The fans are incredible, and it’s just the best sports city. I’m sure if a multi billion dollar nba stadium was proposed 90% of the city would be on board to help fund it. It’s insane they lost the nfl. People talk so much about the crime but as long as you avoid the parts with high crime it’s a pretty safe place. You can walk the streets with your kids and be fine.
Been there once. Found an amazing wide open upper deck area with no tickets sold for some reason. We bought the seats and in about the 4th inning the sun was hitting the seats so badly that it felt like 135 degrees. It was so insanely hot and blinding we abandoned our seats and moved up to a standing / bar area that was above our seats where we stood for the rest of the game. I will never buy tix in that area again! They are above the 1st baseline area
Royals fan here. Busch is definitely a top stadium. The ballpark village is very nice too for eating/drinking and watching sports. The area basically has everything you'd want in a stadium district.
I've been the Busch stadium 3 for US men's soccer in 2019 in the summer it was awesome was about 20,000 people there on Fox sports 1 great video keep up the great content and and a great week the depressed Ginger
0:57 I remember going to a game midway through the first season where the tickets became available simply because they'd finished building that section!
we Midwesterners are blessed with 3 incredible ball parks that will remain top 5 parks in Baseball for a long time (Cards, Cubs, and Brewers ball parks). It's really hard to beat any of those 3.
Thank god he’s back to making baseball videos. I’m sick of hearing about those idiots in a sub. Idc that they died they shouldn’t have been playing around in the Ocean
It's nice, but I'm a child of the old Busch Stadium. I went to see games there when the dimensions were 330ft down the line, 386ft in the power alleys and 414ft to dead center. Few hitters conquered it (Richie Allen & Jack Clark come to mind).
It is really fun to be downtown when Busch and CityPark are playing at the same time. Same goes for late in the season when the Blues are also playing down the street! We are fortunate all the stadiums are within 1/2 mile of each other on Market street.
Although the ballpark is plain... the best part (above all other parks), is that left field street area is connected to the game. Whereas other stadiums are cutoff from the outside living experience. There's so many good views from across the street, creating a village atmosphere. Folks don't even have to be at the game, but can still feel connected by going to the venues out beyond left field.
I like it much more than the old Busch that’s for sure. I hate artificial turf. And although It’s not on my list of my favorite new parks,it is a great park nonetheless.Built for a great baseball town.
Well I've been there a few times and I was less than impressed. Parking is expensive. The neighborhood is dangerous as is most of the city. A woman spectator was shot by a stray bullet while INSIDE the stadium watching a game. If you sit in the bleachers in the far outfield during a day game make sure you have sunglasses because you are facing into the western sun. I think they should have built the stadium in the southern or western areas outside the city because until they clean up the crime I won't go to a game there. And i say this after living , going to college and law school, and getting married in St. Louis, Spent lot of time shopping there and going to the Muny, Zoo, Fox theatre and movies houses that used to be downtown. But downtown is a barren place compared to what it once was and the crime rate in St. Louis is a national disgrace.
My hometown team..... that stadium has awesome seating, but the St. Louis Summers...! Humid and Hot on most days/nights. It should have been a retractable roof. Seriously oof!
All the "ballpark village" things teams have going on outside of the stadium.. technically arent affiliated w/the official club & the revenue generated doesn't count towards the teams revenue
