Why Chongyun is Way Too Underrated (Gameplay & Character Analysis/Discussion) 

Alright I just wanna say, no I am not depressed, and no I am not tired (or at least I wasn't when I was recording) I just happen to be a softspoken guy, and that's just how my voice sounds Thank you :) :D

Out of all the Male characters, his design was the one to catch my attention the most.

I honestly feel bad for Chongyun, like imagine having to keep your body temperature low for your entire life or else you'll go insane

Fun Fact! The knot and charm on Chongyun and Xingqui’s visions are gifts from each other. Xingqui had given Chongyun the knot first, and after almost bursting into tears, he returned a few days later with the charm that he made himself.

"Chongyun has a naturally high body temperature and anything that increases it further causes his emotions to go out of control" *puts him in Bennett's ultimate*

my fave thing about chongyun is that he went to dragonspine in just a shirt and hid inside a frozen lake just out of sheer stubbornness and frustration.. i mean, the boy has himbo energy

*Story Chongyun:* "Hmm today I will spend a week in freezing water on Dragonspine without catching hypothermia in order to hone my congenital positivity" *Gameplay Chongyun:* "noooo i need a heat source or i die from sheer cold"

he also has one of the best idle animations. dude literally just pulls out a popsicle and eats it. it's adorable af. more love for popsicle boi :D

Fun fact, Chonyun's tassel was given to him by Xingqiu; and Xingqiu's tassel was given to him as a gift from Chongyun.

Seriously, ice cream dude is so precious. He deserve a lot of headpats. His friendship with Xingqui and Xinyan are equally hilarious.

YES. He has the best outfit. How it combine traditional and modern elements. He's a genuine and sincere guy and that's why he's underrated. The only thing people think of him is how he got pushed around by Xingqiu and Xiangling. He shows great restrain and self-control dealing with his condition, while his "friends" are more than happy to abuse for their own amusement despite the fact that he can actually fell ill because of it.

why I play Chongyun: are you kidding me look at him he's so goddamn cute and pure

Bruh I don't know why Chongyun is so underrated, he's literally the best sub DPS for Diluc, with that field Diluc can proc a lot of melts, I do that all the time

when I heard Chongyun is getting an hangout event I was just like "that's my first choice, everyone else is secondary, I must thank him for being adorable and his skill for helping me as I hate enemies that moves"

Chongyun is the best Cryo Support in my opinion

Among all the claymore users, his final attack swing and his E are just really satisfying to look at, the way he jumps and swings with forceful impact but looks skilled at it too, like a graceful martial artist. It's up there with Beidou's sword kick and Hu Tao's 5th attack flourish on my tier list for attack animations.

Reason why I love chongyun- he carried my ass in the electro hypostasis thingy especially with me using his element along with Diluc’s for destroying the last three tiny triangles that are so fricking ANNOYING!

Chongyun's story is basically suffering from success

When I start in the game, I was like: "ok cryo boy, let's give it a try" Now he is at level 90

I'm a Chongyun main and I use him as my main DPS. No regrets. He can deliver damage and combos very well with basically every character. Also he is such a precious boy and I was so happy when they gave him a quest 🥺 he deserves so much more love.

Suggesting Chongyun to be a support is an offense to all Chongyun mains.

He’s going to be so underrated when 1.5 comes. He’s going to be compared with Eula so much.

Chongyun is my favorite character!! I got him in my very first 10 pulls with Noelle since then chongyun was my main DPS he's so cool! But I was so sad that he was barely mentioned at all until the hangout events. He needs more love!!!

4 months late to this discussion, but I finally got him from Ayaka's banner! He was the sole reason I even rolled this time, and I've never been happier. He is so precious and so fun to play honestly (though I still need to level him up.. my lvl80 Kaeya has to carry for now it seems)

I feel like chongyun and xingqiu wouldn't really be known well in the fandom if it wasn't for their friendship

Chongyun was the first ever character I got, and I absolutely love this dude. He’s been one of the most useful components on my team, and I don’t really care about best team comps and stuff I like that, I just wanna play the game and have fun -and mihoyo please give me Diluc I’ve been waiting for a month and a half now-

Honestly, when I first got Chongyun he was my main dps. I still never understood and never will the like statistics because I love claymore users a lot! I loved his character details that he has too! Overall, I have so much fun playing with him, I don't have that much characters but he just makes up for it

Chongyun is my favorite character of the whole game, his design is so beautyful and elegant, he is defibnetly best boy and as I say proudly "Sometimes it takes a real man to become best waifu"

He actually has one of the strongest bursts in the game, especially with 4 swords. If you melt and have good crit, you can deal over 40k per sword...

I unlocked Chongyun's story quest almost immediately after the update went live. Still is my favorite hangout event out of the 4. The ending with the kids absolutely melted my heart, we do not deserve Chongyun 😭

Tbh, it’s the fandom that makes him underrated. Look at Noelle, Mihoyo literally favored her since day 1 but none of the community makes a noise about her. She’s the main focus in KFC. She’s also featured in the banner where everyone will pull (klee, ganyu and now venti).

Chongyun was my dps/sub dps for quite a long time and I love him! When the serenitea pot available, our conversations made me blush because I could finally interact with him (Mhy pls make story quest with him!) 🥺

He's the reason I started playing. I was transfixed when I saw him in a showcase video. He was my dps from w1 to w5. I'll come back to him when I start using Diluc as dps 😀 for now, I'll level up the friendship of my current dps

When you’re one of the people who love Chongyun and unlocked his story quest first :’) I use Chongyun as a support for his burst since I have Xingqiu and Sucrose in my team :) This is where my friends start screaming at me because I main two supports :3 Edit: what the hell- I never expected this would get 200+ likes in a little over half a day :’) To think I was just taking a break from being a try hard “good” student :D

I always loved how Chongyun looked. Hell even after I already built a solid Razor superconduct build I immediately swapped that out for a Chongyun Shatter build when I got Chongyun from the weapon banner. He's just fun to play IMO, but sucks massive pp against enemies resistant to cryo. So having somebody else in your team to deal with Cryo like XiangLing is a definite must have. I had to make a lot of adjustments for him, and I don't regret it one bit.

My first ever team after my starter team, I had Chongyun working with Xingqiu and Xiao. Loved using him, and still can't get over how cool his character design is 😫🤗

I’d love to see a video talking about why xingqiu is a great character and severely underrated....most people only like him cause he’s an awesome support or has nice legs (neither is wrong tho) but very few people seem to understand the depth of his personality and story which is what got me to fall in love with him :( they see a cute looking boy who loves books and think he’s some kind of quiet geeky nerd which is exactly what xingqiu PRETENDS to show to people he’s not close with to maintain his high reputation and it hurts to see no one try to understand him (and other characters in general) which makes me love him and chongyun’s relationship even more since xingqiu acts his true eccentric self around chongyun while chongyun’s unstable personality is completely accepted by xingqiu in return

Something very often overlooked is the fact that he and Xingqiu both have Bagua symbols on their clothes (same thing as the bars you see on the Korean flag)

Popsicle boy really needs more love, its a great thing that Mihoyo added a hang-out event for Chongyun, deeply appreciate it. My boi Chong is currently Lvl 90 and is the only character I have as level 90, bc I want him to be special

I also saw him before the game released and I was like: Yup, I love this guy! Now he's my main DPS and evertime my friends see Chongyun, they think of me xD

I love Chongyun, he was the first character I pulled besides my guaranteed Noelle, and he's pretty much the reason why I only use Frozen comps with Cryo, Geo (Albedo was my first 5 star and he's also a huge favourite of mine), and Hydro. I still use him with Kamisato Ayaka, Albedo, and Xingqiu, because I love him that much. EDIT: He's currently Friendship 5, a bit behind Albedo's Friendship 6.

as someone who just got him to friendship level 10 yesterday, imma just say I was very excited for this!!

I hadn't expect the character to be almost a year old. I've gotten into Genshin just this year and he still feels underrated especially cause of his aunt Shenah which i love her but still. Anyways for me i'm more attacted to the characters personality which i love all the characters and want to master all of them and i do have my preferences but what i like about Chongyun is i relate to his yang energy in the sense that my emotions are pretty unstable which also rises my body temperature to feverish levels. It's a daily struggle but his hangout events help me cope with the struggle and feel not alone in it i guess. Then i am a traveler main who can find a way to relate to all of the characters somehow so heed my word with a grain of jueyun peppers XD

My popsicle boi needs more love honestly. I chose him for the stand by me and he’s nuked every enemy he’s come across. But then I got his boyfriend and then I really just became a mass murderer in domains. I love practically everything about him and it honestly surprises me that he does more damage then my Hu Tao.

As someone who used him since the day i got him these videos really warm my heart. He was the first character I ever leveled up till 90 and I haven't regreted it even for a second (unlike Razor interestingly enough). The Chongyun-Benny combo is something I live for and I find it the most fun out off all playstyles (and yes I played a lot with Hu Tao and she is super fun and interesting as well). Overall I love his personality and his abilities and yeah he is just an all around good boi.

Chongyun was one of my first characters and I personally love him. His ideals just make me die. I also like his serious but chill vibe that seems cool but can easily be showed as a facade. I may have wanted Diluc. But Chongyun filled the void and more.

bennett + chongyun feels great honestly. Combining him with chars that can consistently apply pyro (outside of autos) can make him such a useful resource to output huge damage. I 100% agree with him being underrated. Edit: Main combo for bennett + chongyun is bennett elemental burst -> chongyun elemental burst. Massive damage.

Haven't been able to watch the video yet, but I really appreciate you making a video about Chongyun! All of your videos are amazing and bring a lot of insight to various topics, and I'm very glad to see that it's being done about one of the most arguably underrated characters in the game. I used to main Chongyun, and I still love him a lot, so I'm glad to see a video like this that's well made and puts a lot of light onto his character!

thanks for this video! chongyun’s my comfort character and he was my first main dps so i’ve played with him the longest and achieved many things with him. he is underrated and i get really happy when i see people give him the love that he deserves

Yes thank you, somebody needed to say it! Another reason I main and love Chongyun is because he is not a selfish dps and is a teamplayer! With him, you really have to use a proper team and that gameplay is waaay more fun than selfish dps gameplay! He is very good in melt comps and I love his personality!
