And that might've been cool if we wanted something that _dumb._ It's like they're getting sick of their own franchise and using that instead of doing something that felt cool and new and mysterious and slick. It had such a clean new interface and for some reason had to be intentionally tacky and just uncomfortable, not in a creepy or danganronpa unsettling way but in a cringeworthy, waste of time way. Maybe I'm just mad.
@Icerope-km9lu

Don't quote me on this but I also read somewhere that the Kubs were supposed to make the executions less gory. For example, instead of Monokid's head getting chopped off and rolling across the floor, Kaede's head was originally supposed to. Monosuke's limbs weren't supposed to fly off, Kirumi's limbs were. And the bug was supposed to burst out of Gonta's stomach instead of Monomi's (I would NOT have been able to handle that one)

Your complaints with Angie is kinda similar to what happened with Taka in the first. He could've gotten a character arc where he learns to grow from Mondo's death, instead he justs dies. I'm not saying the first game's chapter 3 was bad or anything, FAR from bad, I'm just pointing something out.

i swear i’m so upset that taka dies right after mondo. mondo’s my fav from dr1 (along with sakura), and as much as i would’ve loved it, mondo’s death was for the best. it was emotional and the entire chapter provided great characterization for him, chihiro, and taka. and taka could’ve had great development after mondo died, but nah, he just dies next. now, i don’t hate hiro at all, he had some fun lines, but taka would’ve been a much better survivor than hiro. i at least wish that taka had lived longer. tbf, taka’s death isn’t as offensive as ibuki and tenko’s. theirs felt like “oh wow we need to keep the tradition of the third case being a double murder so let’s kill off this character with actual potential”, because while taka had potential, the double murder was original.

Honestly, I think they didn't bring anything to the table in the slightest. All of them were absolutely useless and gave me no reason to like them. I mean, whatever did Hiyoko do to make me like her? How about Nekomaru, who died twice in the span of nine hours? The second game was good, but it was also quite ridiculous. In my opinion, I like V3 because at least all of the annoying characters served somewhat of a purpose. @@productionscrub8476 Nekomaru just pooped. That's literally all he did. As for Hiyoko, Mahiru's death could have been a good segway into her development, but instead, she still hated everyone and berated Mikan whenever she possibly could. As for Toko, she got her development, but since I am talking about the original trilogy, her development does not count when comparing her to characters in the main trilogy. Mondo was a good character, and I did like him, but he did not play an important role in anyone's development save for Ishimaru, who died before he could really get any at all. Instead, Mondo died, and Ishimaru went super-Saiyan for a couple hours before dying.

I was not too fond with the ending either. It’s not straightforward as to what happens. The ambiguous teasing is not great to me cuz it’s not the right way to conclude the story imo. I feel like he could have taken kokichi's role in chapter 4. Ryoma finds the flashback light, looking for a reason to live. After seeing it, he becomes super depressed and just wants to die. That's how he gets into the position kokichi's in, no stun feature required. And the thing with gonta happens entirely by accident, and he kills miu based on a decision he made rather than being coerced into it by kokichi. Ryoma during the trial can't speak on what happens because he's both too depressed to care and partly wants the vote to be wrong. For me, Tsumugi was wasted as a character and as a villain. She didn't have any character development, she had ABSOLUTELY no relevance to the plot, and then suddenly became the mastermind and turned out to be very important and relevant to the plot. That was the only time when the antagonist wasn't Junko, she had great potential, but instead became a nothing character. She could have split personality, that would explain her sudden change of behavior and the glowing eyes. Or give her more screentime with interesting dialogues, not just the 4th wall breaking in the 6th chapter. She didn't even have any special traits that would make her outstanding, and was the most forgettable in the cast. Admit it, we all forgot she was existing until chapter 6. I always wanted the antagonist to be someone different than Junko, now I'd rather have Junko.
@Doomzdeh
@Doomzdeh 3 года назад
I mean, you have to realize that Tsumugi stayed in the background on purpose, right? She didn’t want to be noticed. She wanted to be able to slip away and plot without any suspicion at all. Becoming someone that others paid attention to would’ve made her more obvious sooner. The reason this was necessary is because Junko didn’t play the killing game in either game, so she didn’t have to worry about being found out until way later. In contrast, Tsumugi was with everyone from the beginning I think she could’ve been a lot more interesting too, but I do think it makes sense

Yeah, apparently the creator tried to make you feel the same despair as Shuichi did, which actually makes perfect sense, cuz you think about it like: “oh no, this character got killed, it’s not like it’s more than a video-game doe”, but when you take an entire franchise and say “even in the game’s world, the game’s world is just a video game” which is very meta, but then you realise that everything you’ve done up to that point has been a waste because it’s not like it really matters anyway, it’s not real anymore, and this might be confusing, but it just makes so much sense to me

The irony is that the point of the ending is that just because something is fictional or a lie doesn’t mean you can’t value it. The fake personalities that Kaito and Kaede got were what encouraged Shuichi to become a hero. Rather than to just denounce them as fakes, he chose to keep their lessons in his heart.

The thing that makes it much worse is that the game itself (and fans) will respond to all the problems in the game with "___ flaw is just a symptom of the Danganronpa show running for 53 seasons! It's supposed to be that way" which honestly feels like the game forcing you to excuse all of it's flaws because "that's what they meant all along". Meanwhile, it offers no unique character deconstruction or subversions tied to this. This also makes the game feel like it's impossible to criticize, and that it's almost forcing the player to like it.

Did you play the game? The whole point was that their experience *did* matter because of the pain and suffering they went through. Fiction *can* affect their reality.
@fridaylambda3494
@fridaylambda3494 3 года назад
Two words flashback lights. This plot device alone destroys any reality within the game and makes everything in the game meaningless specifically because they are a terrible addition to the game. How so you may ask? Well, they have no known limited use, Tsumugi can use them whenever she wants, and they just erase and implant new memories on a whim. In other words, you are no longer who you were and are know a doll filled up with new ideas concepts, and constructs. Your memories and emotions are dependent entirely upon what this flashback light dictates and it alone. To give an example, let us assume your least favorite color is red. You can't stand the sight of it and it evokes an emotion of disgust. Opps flashback light you're favorite color is red now. So what emotion do you feel towards that color? Emotions are dictated by HOW you remember events and perceive others. If you change someone's perspective on an event or memory, you by that very nature change their emotions. In this case, Tsumugi can just add subliminal messages to a flashback light blast a character with it and they develop new thoughts, ideas, or emotions. For example, Kaito and Maki developing romantic feelings for one another. Oma deciding to take action against the killing game in an extreme manner. How much of the events of this game do we know 100% for certain are not manipulated when the mastermind has control over everything including cameras and memories? What's more with her talent assuming cospox is a lie, she could just be the only murderer and going on a killing spree for sick pleasure for all we know. What exactly is real about a game where someone is making you feel emotions to elicit emotions in the audience? This is known as seeing the author's invisible hand and it never works well. People find it either annoying or downright insulting when an author makes it apparent they're doing these things on purpose for the sole sake of making you feel things. This problem especially occurs when an author outright uses fake deaths to trick you into feeling sad, horrified, and or any range of emotions only for the character to suddenly reappear alive. This trope known as the resurrection trope annoys a lot of people for this reason you CAN TELL the author's doing it on purpose to stimulate your emotions and it annoys people because it shows explicit intent. It also ruins immersion as it takes you out of the story by making you think "Omg why can't you let them stay dead?" In this case, we can see Tsumugi's hand in this game and it ruins the feeling of being real. How much of this is her manipulation? Was this her or the developers plan all along? Are we about to get another game with a brainwashed Saihara playing a new killing game? The problem with V3's attempt at making fiction seem like it affects reality is there's no reality, no proof anything in this game is actually real. Flashback lights, Tsumugi's broken talent, and even a potential fake polling all leave questions but not answers and that's problematic. If I can substitute the killer's name for "It was Tsumugi in a dress", that's a problem especially when with a quick flashback light she can make the person think they're the killer and re film a bunch of stuff to give to her audience is well within logic. There's no proof V3 is live. There's no proof if the death's or real or just movie magic with flashback light induced powers. Nothing in this game is real because the game goes out of its way to break immersion and make us see the hand of the author pulling us around like dolls on a set. It also doesn't help the game feels like(even if its not) calling us, the consumers, out like we're the bad guys when the people causing all this harm are the producers, the makers. However, the ending essentially says ah yes the audience is the bad guys for watching this when there's no proof they know the deaths are real or that Team Danganronpa won't just flashback away the memories of the ending. Again, there is no confirmation that flashback lights have any real permanent side effects or limitations which leaves open the gaping plot hole that you can use them indefinitely to make people do whatever the F* you want. Flashback you're a ballerina now. Flashback now you're a serial murderer. It trivializes the characters by making them more like dolls we can fill up with whatever we want cause their memories and emotions can be changed to suit whatever need the author wants. Who cares when they'll just become a new empty husk in a few minutes with a new personality (since that's also going to get a real hit after enough of those lights). Fiction works because it is a reality upon which we view, interact with, and ponder about. It may not be real to us but it is a reality. However, DRV3 fails to understand that by sacrificing any chance at realism thru basic holes in its ending that just needed a few tweaks to fix which is a darn shame cause maybe if they'd written it with more care it could work so much better.

I have a theory. I remember Kodaka saying something along the lines of "if there is one series I don't mind people hating, it is V3." I think he is trying to use Danganronpa to mock art studios and the mainstream. So it is established canonically that Danganronpa is a game show created by Team Danganronpa, the company Shirogane Tsumugi worked for, and the franchise gained a huge success. It went on for 53 seasons because of how successful it is, and how so many people found the game relatable. Why so? Because this show gives the majority, the talentless people, HOPE. The same reason why some people like Spiderman over other Marvel heroes, they want see a nobody who just happened to be in an unbelievable situation (bitten by a spider) fight their way to the top, rather than seeing a "chosen one" fight to the top. Because like Nagito said in Ultra Despair Girls, people are motivated by stories about the weaker side winning, such as David vs Goliath, weaker sports team in games. Which is precisely why I strongly disagree that Kaede should've been the protagonist, because that would've destroyed the whole point of Danganronpa. A scrawny, comparatively miserable protagonist is exactly what Danganronpa needs to make the story "relatable", to give the audience the sense of hope, allowing them to think they TOO can achieve great stuff, despite being talentless. Which is why Shuichi said in the last trial, this game kept going for 53 seasons, because HOPE NEVER LOST. This is the part where I think, Kodaka wants to mock the mainstream. I mentioned I think Kodaka wanted to mock art studios. I truly believe that. In fact, I believe, Danganronpa = Disney. Let's go through it series by series. Danganronpa 1 represents the creative masterpiece, the shining example of originality. Team Danganronpa just began, and the crew was filled with so much ambition and passion to make a project truly wonderful, and it paid off. It gained great success. Danganronpa 2 represents the not-as-good-but-still-good sequel, which is still made with passion and heart, but also for cash grab. Which is why in this season, they introduced the mechanic where the player can collect Monokuma stickers (merch), and they also advertised their new spinoff, Ultra Despair Girls. Although the ending is connected to the prequel, the ending is less original. It is basically a Matrix scenario. And the fact that this project is made for cash grab is made even more obvious by many of the side stuff available in the game: Danganronpa Dating sim, Usami RPG, and Danganronpa Tamagotchi. The company is expanding the business. Danganronpa: Ultra Despair Girls represents experimental spinoff that gets mixed reviews. New mechanics, new concepts, although appreciated by some fans, but not as successful as the original. This spinoff, however, is made with some intention of cash-grabbing. I mean, just look how many versions of Monokumas are there. More Monokumas=more plushies. Plus an imouto protagonist that panders to the audience that crave waifus. Danganronpa 3 represents the failure. Due to the huge demand by fans, and the huge success Team Danganronpa got from the first two works, they quickly dished out the anime, which SUCKED. Cash-grab galore, no longer original, the twist is literally a brainwash cliche. That is lazy writing. This is probably the series that made many fans in the world of Danganronpa give up on the franchise, for how badly it is made. But at this point, Team Danganronpa doesn't care anymore. They know they can survive and keep the franchise alive no matter what, because of the huge fanbase they've got. All they have to do is pandering. "NOOOO DON'T KILL ASAHINA AOI" Aight, It's a prank, lol. "NOOOO I WANT CHARACTERS FROM DR2 BACK!" Okay, they're not dead, lol. "NOOOO HOW DARE YOU KILL OFF KIRIGIRI?!!!" OkOk, Mikan saved her, although that doesn't add up at all, but as long as you're happy. "LGBT RIGHTS!!!!!!!" Here is an openly gay boxer character whose gayness will affect the story. Danganronpa 1.2 Reload represents the remastered stuff for more cash-grab. And guess what? They even made a dating sim for the original Danganronpa. Danganronpa: Ultra Despair Girls 2 represents the even bigger failure that even the franchise wants to pretend it doesn't exist. It appeared briefly in Danganronpa V3, in the AV room. Many real-life fans thought it is hinting a new spinoff, but I believe, Kodaka is trying to mimic how in some movies, the studio mocks their own work to be quirky. Like how Elsa was embarrassed by Let It Go in Frozen 2. In real life, UDG 2 doesn't exist. But I believe in the world of Danganronpa, it does, and because it is so shit, they made fun of it in Danganronpa V3. Which is why Kaede's response to it was "sounds like a lame spin-off." ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-G6i73xlK6UI.html The mangas and novels represents shorts for more cash-grab. They are decently written stories that connect to the universe, but not important to the main arcs. And finally, there is V3, which represents a supposedly long-awaited enormous project that completely missed the point. I believe this is the first year Tsumugi entered Team Danganronpa, which explains why she seemed so passionate at the last class trial. And the fact that she only bothered to cosplay as the characters from the first two seasons showed that even she believed that the first two seasons out of all 53 are the real deals. However, as passionate as she is, Team Danganronpa has already transformed from a company full of passion, into a shameless company that loves cash money more than anything else. Proof? 1. The large amount of minigames. Danganronpa slot machines, Danganronpa fishing, Danganronpa mine block shit game, Danganronpa racing, a GREATER Danganronpa RPG, Danganronpa board game, and of course, the dating sim. 2. I agree. Monokubs served no purpose whatsoever to the story. So why are they there? SIMPLE. THEY ARE THE MINIONS OF DANGANRONPA. THEY ARE THERE FOR MORE MERCH. MORE PLUSHIES. Hell, this time around they even put in more effort into the mechanism where players can collect the stickers. THEY GAVE THE MONOKUB STICKERS ANIMATION!! 3. Rather than spending time on writing a great story like they did in the first two seasons, they focused more on the technology and graphics and shit. Which is why the settings look so much less claustrophobia-inducing, and why K1-B0 is such a shit character. The selling point of this season is no longer the originality, but IT IS LIVE-ACTION!! THEY GOT REAL TEENS TO DO THE KILLING NOW. (I am watching you, Disney, fucking Lion King and Mulan and all that crap). Hell, the very reason the twist of the season is so bad is because the original story Team Danganronpa planned for Season 53, the end of the world trope, was SO FULL OF PLOTHOLES IT HAD TO BE DITCHED. They fucked up with the flashback lights. They gave memories that contradicted each other. 4. Another selling point, the Necronomicon. It has been established that the 16 characters were chosen in an audition. I believe this trial was supposed to serve as a chance to allow one other teen who juuust missed the audition to enter the game show. The characters are easily replaceable. Just get a new person, shine the personality on them with the Flashback Light, give them a plastic surgery, and it's done! Too bad it didn't work. However, precisely because they fucked around with the marketing stuff too much, the story-writing flopped even harder, which explains why trial 3 was especially shit in this game. 5. Another selling point: K1-B0 himself. I agree, his character sucks. But in the end, it didn't matter. BECAUSE A BUNCH OF FANGIRLS WILL ALWAYS BE FINE WITH A HANDSOME ASS ROBOT TO RULE 34 WITH. And he now acts as the audiences' eyes in the world of Danganronpa. He is basically just there for the sake of more marketing, and showing off tech stuff. Like how some movies irl do, showing off the CGI and shit without even giving actual care to the story. There are good elements in season 53, such as Gonta, Kokichi, and the Kaito Maki development. I believe those existed because of Tsumugi. Like I said, she was passionate. My theory on her character is that she is a passionate girl who finally got a job in Team Danganronpa, and she even went out of her way to write so many good characters for the franchise. But deep down, she knew, as much as she loved the franchise, it is failing. She tried her best to make sure the Hope vs Despair theme goes on in the final trial, but she failed. Shuichi, a character she wrote herself, destroyed her at her own game by quitting. And since the ending was so shit, plus the story wasn't amazing to begin with, the remaining fans of Danganronpa quit watching the show. Which kind of explains why Tsumugi accepted her death so calmly. She knew this would happen eventually. In the execution, she took off her cosplay as Junko, and waved the franchise she loved so much goodbye. In conclusion, I think Danganronpa is a work made to mock such a phenomenon in art studios. Which explains one of his tweets that baffled the Danganronpa fandom: "Danganronpa V3 will never end." As long as there is a demand from the mainstream who don't give two fucks about art, such a phenomenon will always happen in art studios. Shameless cash-grabs, inexistent artistic integrity, they are inevitable. It will never end.

But, when I played the game, Kokichi just felt like a Nagito 2.0… he didn’t feel like a threat until chapter 4. With Nagito, you never knew what he was gonna do. Kokichi also had no motive. He wanted to end the killing game, but that is a goal, not a motive. His goal was to end the killing game, the motive is why he wanted to end it. And if you say ‘well it’s the right thing to do’ that is such a boring, basic motive. Everybody wanted to end the killing game. He feels like a 2D generic villain, unlike Byakuya and Nagito who had character and motive. I was incredibly disappointed with Kokichi.

Oh, damn, this again. Okay. I’m just gonna say I heavily disagree with this, and I’ll say why. I don’t mean to be rude, but did you not look into his character at all? In no way, shape, or form is he a Nagito 2.0. He is his own character and is extremely different from Nagito, their only similarity being the role they play in the game- but that’s it. They’re entirely different characters. And, you could say that his motive was the killing game. I don’t have time to argue about it, but he was heavily against the idea of killing entirely- even with the Japanese version of his motive video stating his group had a strict no-killing rule. He even hated the fact that people do violent things to each other, which is why in his free time events he solves everything with games and seems to dislike Maki, a lot. But yea- he hated the idea of killing and hated even more the fact that they were being forced to do it. So his motive was the killing game. I wouldn't really call it a boring, basic motive. And while Nagito was unpredictable, I’d say that while Kokichi isn’t as unpredictable as Nagito- he was still unpredictable. I don’t think you were expecting that he’d turn out to actually hate the killing game and try and save everybody from it at the end, right? I guess the whole thing with Kokichi is that he makes himself seem predictable, with the whole constant lying thing, so when he actually does something unpredictable it’s shocking enough to.. V3's cast saves me, honestly. You made some good points, But I'd say Dr2 was my least favorite game. A lot of characters died for no reason, And sometimes those characters would die too! It felt like the game only wished to give development to Nagito, Fuyuhiko, and Hajime. On top of that, Dr2's personalities are much more exaggerated and there's a large imbalance of wacky characters... Still love a lot of them, but it's a bit too much for me.

V3’s ending twist might be the single worst piece of writing I have ever experienced. 1 had good writing, 2 was even better (IMO at least), but the ending of V3 was so staggeringly bad that it retroactively tarnished my impression of the entire series. A good twist replaces what was happening before with something more interesting that makes sense. The ending of V3 replaces what was happening before with something actively less interesting, removes all the stakes and tension, nearly directly insults the player’s intelligence and emotional investment in the story, and basically comes across as the devs throwing a temper tantrum that they want to work on other games but can’t. It’s not avant-garde or creative or a subversion; it’s stupid, petty, and bad writing. Coming off of the narratively impactful twists that were very well done in 1 and 2, calling it a disappointment is an extreme understatement. Good writing gets you to care about what’s happening - the ending of V3 actively says “Ha, we got you to care, aren’t you a sucker? Let’s make sure that you don’t care about what’s happening here at all.” It’s indefensible and downright baffling how they ever thought that was anything but a terrible idea. 1 and 2 are truly remarkable games, but, V3 will likely remain the worst single narrative work I have ever experienced for the foreseeable future. Which is a shame, there were interesting characters and dynamics and ideas present, and the first trial in particular was excellent. But, then the writers decided to throw a temper tantrum.

Another problem with the ending is that the whole "fiction can still have a bearing on real life" concept has been done wonderfully before Despite SDR2 being a simulation, the experiences of the cast were still important to them and had bearing on the outside world, mainly the remnants being redeemed and also the possibility of their friends not waking up SDR2 worked because while the game itself was technically fictional, parts of it still influenced the world of the game V3 doesn't pull its twist off the same way for two reasons The deaths were real, so it isn't fully fictional, so Tsumugi's point doesn't stand And if their literal memories and feelings for each other can be altered by the writers (such as Maki's love for Kaito) then none of their feelings matter???

NGL v3's ending is something i can see being legit really interesting, but i think the issue is that the game falls into the same traps that it tries to critique danganronpa for, so it just feels...hypocritical? the game just retreads the DR formula and the ending comes too late to really redeem it, and its a shame because you could make it interesting by tying the themes into the game more. Rantarou is really interesting, but he dies before hes even able to do anything, its a similar issue to impostor actually, where i think the reveal of their talent (and the fact that rantarou survived previous killing games) could really cause some interesting group dynamics. The necromancy plot is also something that can actually WORK as well, by brainwashing someone else who volunteers into behaving like that exact character who got brought back, and then that could make an interesting finale, I mean, Not only were you brainwashed, but you were brainwashed to act and look like a person who died. anywho, sorry for rambling! i just think V3 had a ton of potential with its plot and it really ruined it by trying so hard to go for a last second twist

The one thing I agree with the most is the surviving cast problem. Shuichi was really the only character I was invested in seeing survive once I knew Kaito and Kokichi weren’t going to. I like Maki and Keebo but they are very lacking in personality. Himiko has some development but I never really bought her dramatic change during the second half, and she just isn’t particularly memorable to me at all, and then Tsumugi is just a plot device and nothing else. The only times I remembered that she existed before the twist at the end was in her interactions with Gonta, which ultimately don’t lead to anything. Between Miu, Gonta, Kaito, Kaede, or Kokichi, if even one of them had survived I would have been a lot more invested in seeing the characters reach the end. I feel like V3 tried so hard to make you upset when people died more than the other two, and usually works, but that means it kills all the characters you’re most rooting for before the end while leaving a bunch of bland to finish out the game, which was disappointing.

@jordandwiggins1026
@jordandwiggins1026 3 года назад
@@pooppooper9033 I think the difference between V3 and the other two is the first two games had more variety in its surviving cast. You have the loner enemy-turned ally types with great development in Byakuya and Fuyuhiko, the comedic cowardly male friend who’s still endearing in Hiro and Kazuichi, the emotional core of the group who seems to actively care about everyone else and actually reacts to situations in Aoi and Sonia/Akane. In both games they still managed to leave some of the most likable characters alive, while in V3 people are made likable in order to have sadder deaths, while the survivors are just there to be impacted by the deaths of someone they care about and not really do much for each other. Plus you as the main character have some kind of noticeable direct interactions individually with every character left and they all interact with each other throughout the game. In V3 Keebo had no interactions with anyone left but Shuichi, and those weren’t particularly memorable. Himiko didn’t really interact with anybody left either besides Shuichi, which is optional. Tsumugi is just kind of there and had no noticeable interactions with anyone but Gonta the entire game and Maki really only interacted with Shuichi by extension of him being around while she was interacting with Kaito and the 3rd investigation. Kaito and Kokichi had some sort of interactions with nearly everybody left in the latter half of the game. I get that the 5th trial has to go out with a bang but I feel like you can’t kill of the only two dynamic characters with memorable personalities who actively interact with the rest of the cast intentionally (something none of the survivors really do much if they can help it). I know this sounds weird but there isn’t a single outgoing person who survives past chapter 5, there’s nobody who really seems like they care that much about the others besides Shuichi. That’s not to say they don’t care, but can you name a single time Himiko, Maki, Tsumugi or Keebo went out of there way to interact with or help someone besides the one person closest to them? Not really. And it just makes it harder for me to care to when all 5 “survivors” are all just a different flavor of introvert who comes out of their shell a little because of someone else who dies, or plot device with little to no personality.
@pooppooper9033
@pooppooper9033 3 года назад
@@jordandwiggins1026 again, I agree with your point. I’m just saying that, as opposed to having kaito or kokichi survive (despite how much I liked their characters), I think tsumugi and kiibo should’ve been written more outgoing, to keep things interesting. One of the things that separated kokichi from nagito is the fact that, while nagito’s plan involved killing all the rest of the students (for arguably justifiable reasons). Kokichi wanted to keep everyone alive. That’s what motivates most of his actions in the game, despite how much he lies about it. Yes, he tricked gonta into murdering, but that was to save his own life. A lot of people don’t like hiro or akane, simply because they survived. So what I’m saying is, I don’t think the issue was WHO survived as much as it was that kiibo and tsumugi couldn’t carry a story (ironically). You make a lot of good points, and I agree with most all of them. I just think that, out of the characters you listed, only miu or maybe gonta could survive without it completely messing up everyone else’s characters.
@jordandwiggins1026
@jordandwiggins1026 3 года назад
@@pooppooper9033 I agree that actually developing Keebo and Tsumugi would help. I feel like they were written with their plot relevance in mind first and their involvement in everything before Chapter 6 is very minimal (Keebo at least has some, which is why I like him more than Tsumugi, but they still both feels less like characters and more like plot devices). I still think having all 5 characters in chapter six be reserved characters who rarely interact with each other or anyone but the people they are meant to grieve for once they die (Angie, Tenko for Himiko, Kaito for Maki, Gonta for Tsumugi I guess and Miu for Keebo) makes it hard to care for them as a group. I think having at least one actually outgoing caring emotive character (Gonta, Tenko and Kaito for example) survive would have helped a lot. i love this game the most for its characters and gameplay, but story wise it falls flat for me. unfortunately the plot twist that it’s all fictional pretty much ruined the game for me. it feels like the writers just had the protagonist wake up in his bed after the game and realise that it was all a dream. i don’t want to think of v3 as non-canonical because i love the characters so much, but the story kinda just brings the whole game down.

I disagree in almost every way. V3 improved everything from 2, especially its characters, setting, how it used the formula, and its better way of rejecting hope and despair. The only thing I thought 2 did better was the rival character in Nagito. Edit: The funhouse was also much better then the virtual world

It also doesn't mean you should hate the whole game lmao. The deaths in the game were good, even though I liked most ofthe characters, it's simply the fact that you feel sad or at least something when someone dies in DRV3, it just feels like you actually knew them.

The thing with survivors of v3, I think all of them deserved to survive. All of them had good character arcs and made them good characters while still being unique. I would've loved for Kaede or Tenko to survive, but it made Shuichi and Himiko such better characters overall. Luckily Tenko didn't have her arc as bad as Hiyoko's, but it's still barely covered. I think Ryoma could've been fleshed out a lot more as well as Angie. Kirumi was really boring and that's sad since she's such a cool looking character but turned out to be boring. There was a lot more potential with her. Korekiyo's motive was... Interesting.... But I actually LOVED Korekiyo's character before the third trial. I loved how weird he was. Miu is one of my favourite characters, but I think that it made sense for her to be killed. She was such an op character in terms of making inventions so she could've just shut down the killing game with them. I think Rantaro could've used more development, but he was fleshed out after his death so I ain't salty. Kaito and Kokichi were great and had perfect development. Kodaka made Tsumugi unlikeable on purpose to have and effect on the player. Also Kiibo, he was cute but in my opinion was really boring until chapter 6.

I vehemently agree with almost all of this tbh, especially with the ending being garbage. I felt that EVERYTHING about the rest of the game was absolutely meaningless. I never thought I would hate a fourth wall break so much in my entire life, and this is coming from someone who LOVES Undertale and Doki Doki Literature Club. But I digress. I honestly loved the huge shift in chapter 5, and all of the stuff going on with Kokichi, along with the trial itself. However I honestly did like Keebo a lot, but I still wish he was more developed as the story progressed, and maybe more developed in a different way. Chapter 6 made me realize that Kaede wasn't even SUPPOSED to die, wnd that was enough to make me LIVID because I wanted her to live, and she was supposed to live. Anyway, in my opinion it's a 7/10, Danganronpa 2 is still my favorite.

I have to say danganronpa V3 was the first game in the series I watched a playthrough on and I have to say, when I first saw Kaede being the main character I always knew she was gonna die deep down. because she was just way too good for this series and what I knew at the time of hajime and makoto was that she was only protagonist who was really optimistic. So when she died I got mad. I wanted her and shuichi to atleast be together until the 4th trial and learning she was killed by tsumugi just added salt to the wound. I liked the character, atmosphere and their personality. I despised the bullshit ending and the story. So far the weakest for me.

I actually really like Shuichi just because of his dynamics with the other characters (Kaito, Maki, and Kokichi in particular). His character growth is honestly my favorite out of the mainline protagonists, and that unfortunately has to come at the cost of Kaede's death. I think I really enjoyed the trio of Shuichi, Maki, and Kaito because it reminded me so much of the dynamic between Simon, Yoko, and Kamina from Gurren Lagann, so I guess it really is personal. The way Shuichi and Maki changed and developed throughout the story really made them some of my favorites in the series. Shuichi's dynamic with Kokichi was really compelling, with Kokichi being an arguably stronger villain than Komaeda. With Komaeda, he was unpredictable in that he was unhinged, but Kokichi was unpredictable in that you never knew if he was telling the truth or not. He was completely sane, making him a much more menacing threat. The battle between truth and lies is the core theme of the game, and I feel that Shuichi and Kokichi represent that perfectly.

I would have loved if kaedes plan was the same but somehow Shuichi ends up as the killer. having her have to deal with her own mistake by getting two of her friends killed and starting the killing game would be a much better arc for a main character than “insecure boy learns he is special uwu” for the third time in a row

I really liked the class trials except for 3 and 6. 3, as you said, wasted potential and 6 drained my sanity. I really disliked the ending. It makes you feel like the past 3 games we played were for nothing . I would rather have closure on the actual game than a horrible fourth wall break that was more confusing than Inception.

I agree. Personally I think i would rank them 6 < 3 < 5 < 1 < 2 < 4. To me 3 was a fine case but it just had so many missed opportunities. Like the actual solving of the case was fairly interesting but I really feel like Kiyo shouldn’t have killed Angie as well. If the case had two killers it would have been much more interesting especially with how obvious it was that Kiyo killed Tenko and his less likeable personality (though personally I liked him until the end of chapter 3). I thought it would end up where we prove Kiyo killed Tenko but then he says that Tenko’s murder doesn’t matter only angies killer is the blackened and we would find out Angies killer is one of the more likeable characters and a lot of the case would rather have Kiyo executed than the likeable character but in the end the likeable character had to be executed and they’d have to live with Kiyo knowing he’s a killer.

I hear people who like V3 say “Danganronpa 2 sucks because it’s too unrealistic!” Or “the first game is so boring and forgetable!” Okay first of all, Why does a story need to be realistic to be good? Harry Potter is award winning and iconic yet it’s not realistic. Yes, Danganronpa 2 isn’t perfect, but it at least has significance in the story. And DR1 is probably seen as forgettable since it comes first in the series. You have DR2, UDG, all the anime’s and light novels, then V3. You forget because of all the other stuff that comes after, so it’s hard to remember it. UDG really comes down to preference and only is there to elaborate on what Touko is doing during one of the DR3 anime’s, but you can’t really compare it to the others because it’s a spinoff and plays totally different. I think what gets me most about V3 is the lack of reasoning there is for it to exist. All the DR content before was fine and needed nothing else, yet V3 was made to satisfy fans who begged for a new game. I personally believe the entire series besides maybe DR1 has bad writing, but with V3 it just sticks out more because of other aspects. Also the characters annoy me because while most people generally like most of the characters from the other games (I only really see antagonists like Byakuya, Celeste, Junko, Mikan, and Nagito get hate from the first two) but in V3 everyone has such extreme personalities, or no personality at all so you either love them, or despise them. That’s just how I see it.

Tbh V3 was my favorite. It had the best executions and the best cast in my opinion. It was hard to hate anyone but korekiyo in V3. Also I loved the ending. First V3 is not canon to the other 2 games so it doesn't ruin them. And second V3 did what a danganronpa game should, divert your expectations. Its main purpose was to divert your expectations from the beginning showing you that even protagonists are not safe. I could list a lot of stuff as to why I love V3 but that would take forever
