His overall demeanor was to stay true to himself and not the influence he’s caused. Instead of getting a big head and using social media to continue his comedy influence, he thought of himself and his family and set his legacy in stone by doing exactly what he wanted. So, yes, it was the greatest decision he ever made. Mad props to Dave ✊🏾.

Love your content. When you put it all out there, it makes sense why Dave left. You see these other celebrities get swept up into the machine and they become a mess, or become a shell of their former selves. Dave saw the writing on the wall and got out of there, took his family to a safe place and let his kids grow up relatively normal. Then, *on his terms* he returned and can make the kind of content he wants without dealing with the bs that goes into doing a network show.

I tell you I have mad respect for him as a person with integrity to walk away from his craft for the reason he did. Dave's decision to step back was literally like re evaluating a relationship with another person after you see some things that you don't like. Some people get complacent and decide to deal with the the very things that they actually cannot tolerate for whatever reason, and Dave Chappelle couldn't stand for what he believed was intolerable. Kudos. He chose true happiness instead of being stuck in a rut.

Lizabeth Duran I always read this when people say he didn't want to wear a dress, THEY wanted him to wear a dress, and wanted creative control on his own show. I think I heard they wanted him to insult black people less, but still insult white people. Men in tights was not forced on him, he chose to act, and wear the dress, when CC tried to force him to do things he was not comfortable with or didn't want, he said fuck it. Whatever is up with Dave now, but at least Netflix, he has creative control.

One thing that I think it's often overlooked when talking about Dave Chappelle's career and life is the difference in a man's life choices when there's a father present in his upbringing. I think a lot of times when young boys grow up with being raised with a father in the home, they're more likely to make better life decisions. I think that one of the main things that kept Dave on the straight and narrow path in terms of his integrity was the fact that he and his father had talks about these sorts of things. I strongly doubt he would have made the same decisions he has made had there not been a father in his life. And to be clear, that's not to disparage the role of the mother or single mothers. But when it comes to raising a child, there are just some things that only a man can teach a child, especially a boy. (And vise versa) I would argue that the main reason why it was so easy for Dave to remain on his Square was because he was taught manhood by a man. That's priceless.

Also in light of all the horror stories recently to come out about Hollywood or entertainment industry to me confirms he wasn't going to sacrifice whose true identity. What would that make his kids think about him if at all and would his wife keep them around? He just seems to be somewhat a well-rounded cat whose moral compass is a hair off true north. When Dave did this he got SMEARED by the media, I mean they made him out to be a druggie who went crazy. It was framed as if no person in their right mind would turn down all that money over integrity. The people/ corporations who weren't able to make money off of him anymore made sure he looked really bad and it took years to get the real story out.

He did something other may find impossible. He felt him losing himself. He purpose was jaded and he need to go find who he is again. His move was the right move and he's back with new focus.

Something true and personal for me. Dave Chappelle is (maybe not exactly 1st) the 1st real inspiration I've ever had, hes one in a billion. How he did with getting away from what he despised most, ESPECIALLY being young with a massive amount of money at stake right in front of him, and to turn away from it all because he knew in his heart and core that it wasnt right, or for him. The world would be a totally different place if more people had slightly more of this kind of mindset. I'll always look up to him. Funniest man I've ever seen my whole life.

For the last question the announcer asked, should Dave bring his show back? I say, Nah. For one, Charlie is no longer with us and the show came at a time when the World Trade Center was still fresh on everyone’s mind. We needed something to distract us. Even if it was for a short period of time. Who would ever think (I’m changing the subject) 8 months later after this video was made that the WORLD would be going through another devastation. Whom ever reads this 🙏🏽 May YOU and YOUR love ones be SAFE 🙏🏽😷

Definately a good move. He kept his integrity. Stayed true to himself.. In this world, all your aquired wealth can be taken from you. Everything you own can be destroyed easily. But when it comes to your integrity, YOU are the only person capable of destroying it.. No-one else could ever have that power.

Dave was one of the best Comedians of all time. Watching some of his old stuff he did makes have a good laugh not at him but the stuff he says just always seems true. Killing them Softly was a good one he did enjoyed that one, had a bad day came across that video made my day a lot more at ease.

I love Dave. I believe he should do what makes him comfortable within himself. Be the man that he is. A real man. That's how I view him.

As a white dude, I have a lot to thank his show for. I will never forget moving from a small town into a big city. Moved right next to everyone I was taught to fear. I got invited over one night to shoot the shit, they saw I was out of my element and uncomfortable. A guy named Q threw on the Chapelle's show for some distraction, and it broke the ice and ignorance for me. We were laughing at the same jokes, and the ones I didnt get normally lead to me hearing some real life crazy stories. Ended up shooting dice with them every Friday night, and if not for Q throwing his show on, I wouldnt have the friends I have today.

Oprah tried to pry the answers out of Dave during the entire interview... Dave ultimately said at a show, “that’s the game baby!”... and told a graduating class he walked away from $50m, came back and signed a deal for $60m...

He goes to the beat of his own drum. You can't hate for that! More people should have this level of Integrity in one's lifetime. He truly respects himself & his surroundings and future. My hat's off to you Dave. Blessed wishes, Michael Syracuse ny

I appreciate all this content on this channel. These are people that i grew up seeing Black people who have real morals and Values with the content that they want to put out into Hollywood, thus shaping culture entirely. And when i look at Dave now he looks like he has been through alot but according to this last stand up he did on Netflix he is still on top. And still stayed true to himself. And will go down in history as one of the G.O.A.T.S

I think he did the right thing if you don't stand for something you will fall for everything. So many in Hollywood have sold their souls to be where they are at. Chappelle, didn't sell his soul and he made out even better and is happy with his career. Good for you Chappelle!
