I'm only a couple months in! I've been going every Saturday doing two hour sessions at a time! I've done 17 hours so far! I've been told if I go every week doing two hours sessions at a time it should all be gone in a year! I really hope that's true! 🤞🏻🤞🏻
I completely relate to your frustration and even the feelings of guilt due to past unintentional mistakes. I don’t have PCOS but I still had a terrible experience with laser hair removal (peach fuzz on cheeks --> became coarse & even areas that had nothing but were treated by the laser as part for her facial package, like the chin & jaw, became absolutely horrible). Unfortunately I then spent 2 years going weekly with thermolysis with absolutely *zero* difference! I did some research and saw forums where people said that didn’t notice a change with thermolysis due to the lower kill rate, or perhaps their electrologist wasn’t using high enough heat (same issue with laser!). I decided to start blend about 6 months ago (3-6 hours a week!!!) and while I do feel much more of a “pull” with blend, I am much more confident that it will be effective. I’ve made the electrologist aware of the areas I notice resistance but some hairs are just too in there I guess? I haven’t noticed much of a noticeable difference yet but with thermolysis I had barely any pull but no result. It’s so tricky but I pray the blend method is what works.
Find a pro electrologist. I had the same problem. People like that just take your money. My hair (the same hair) was growing back week after week. I could have stayed years with that woman, but instead I searched for a pro electrologist and since I switched my hair is gone forever and isn't growing back. Such a relief and omg what a difference. Electrolysis, if there is still resistance.. just neeeeeeeeeeext. Don't keep them. Electrolysis don't work if the hair is still resistant, it's just a technique they use to keep you going to their saloon for years and take your money.
Thanks I always tell I new client who never done it before that it is a process it takes a long time because of hair cycles especially on the face which other area like under arms and legs are faster to remove it all.
It is pricy however it is cheaper in the long run the waxing every week to every two weeks for the rest of ones life. Not sure about U.K. but in the state I live in the average price of waxing is only 13 dollars less then the price I charge for 15 minutes secession.

Ohh so sorry the numbing creams don't work for you. I have clients that are the same. It's better to do shorter session but more frequent and that way it's more manageable!
I sooo relate, and i cant tell you what to do. After my first session I felt exactly as you did about pain. Than someone who had done this before me said they felt the same way and shared this with me. 1. avoid electrolysis around your cycle 2. drink tons of water and hydrate your face ALOT between sessions. This was the best advice I ever got. It was still uncomfortable but I can now easily do 2 hour sessions, heck I could handle 10. If you would of told me that at the beginning of this process I would have laughed
I love your videos! They're very comprehensive and helpful. Do you recommend electrolysis for stomach hair? I have hair on my lower abdomen and I was considering laser hair removal for it. But if this is a hormonal area, I don't want to experience paradoxical hypertrichosis with LHR. I've done LHR in the past for my chin, neck, and jawline area and I think it may have just made it worse.

Hi Melis! Thank you so much for your videos. I am curious if you know about the Mila/Milo (not sure how its spelled!) setting on the machine? My electrologist uses that for me since I am so sensitive about the pain and I wanted to know your thoughts on it. I am almost at a year of doing treatments (usually 1 or 2 sessions a month) and am slowly seeing results! She has used a different setting on me before but it is so intense I can barely stand the pain and I do use numbing cream! Thank you!

Hi Melis, I have very thick coarse facial hair. And was doing electrology weekly but my chin was hurting a lot and even numbing because the electrologist would go into the follicle 2 or even 3 times to get the hair to get out. She now said that her teacher told her that I should go in once a month and that the electrologist should be using a number 4 needle. I hate all these hairs on my chin and cheeks and on top of that it’s really dark and ugly. Can I use hydroquinone and retin A while doing electrolysis? Should I continue to go to that electrologist? PLEASE HELP!!!!
Hi, there can be stubborn hairs that may take a couple times to get the hair out, but not all the time. When correct settings are used, the hair should come out easily. Numbing my cream needs to be applied VERY thick with clingfilm wrap around it and left on for an hour leading up to your session. This is the way to helps with pain. I recommend you try someone else and compare them so you will know who you’re more comfortable with. Yes you can use them bur do not use retin A close to your electrolysis appointment. Stop using it a week before your session and wait for your skin to heal after your session before you use ig

Yes you can! I recommend giving at least 2 weeks before your electrolysis session so your akin isn’t sensitive. If you want to do it after your elec session, wait for your skin to heal which can also take 2 weeks!
Hi Melis, I ’ve been getting electrolysis for a few months now on my forehead area and I’ve gotten pigmentation spots. I am using arbutin complex cream but I don't know what else I can do? Can please help me ??
Hi! Pigmentation is a side effect of electrolysis but there are tips I can give you, You can use azaliac acid and/or a chemical exfoliant with AHAs within your skincare routine. Remember not to exfoliate straight after your session, you need to wait 4 days. Pigmentation can take a long time to heal but once your electrolysis sessions are over or near the end, your skin will have a chance to heal without any inflammation. I hope this helps!
I wish I saw this video before the beginning of the year. Unfortunately my blood tests showed that I don’t have any hormonal issues, have high prolactin levels and iron deficiency and they did a trans abdominal scan, also no issues. I felt really frustrated. My GP never contacted me or have said if I have idiopathic hirsutism. I just gave up on it. I felt they didn’t give fck about me. I didn’t see a difference after electrolysis either, 4 sessions I know it isn’t a lot but I also didn’t want to waste my money and I lost motivation. I now trim it with scissors and it goes back after 2 days :(( is trimming with scissors stimulating my hair??
Hi! It seems like you are experiencing similar issues as me - i also have no hormonal imbalances outside of the elevated prolactin levels (i had a pituitary gland micro-adenoma in the past), i have experienced paradoxical hair growth caused by years of laser on my initially (mostly) peach fuzz hair. I have been now getting electrolysis for almost 7 months (about twice a month), and I have only recently noticed some tangible difference - it does work! It just takes time and it will be worth it. I figured my issue has to do with genetic predisposition to growing more hair than average, it's not that abnormal. I recommend you commit to it, you will eventually be grateful you started
I wish I had more information years ago but I’m here now sharing it with the world hoping it will help! Trimming the hair is a temporary hair removal method. It is allowed to be done between electrolysis sessions because it doesn’t effect the results. I recommend you give electrolysis another chance and be patient with it. It will give long term results!

I have no other symptoms, even my periods are extremely regular apart from facial hair, so I am not sure if I have that. How did you get diagnosed with it? Sorry to hear about your paradoxical hair growth that must have been hard to deal with. I do want to try electrolysis in the future but now that covid is over, I can’t hide my facial hair behind my masks. I feel so insecure to even grow it, and obviously for electrolysis the hair has to be long enough to get to the hair follicle. Looking back I do wish I stuck by it. It didn’t help that my electrologist was constantly recommending me to try laser even though I told her I’m not comfortable with it and I am worried about paradoxical hair growth. I just felt like I couldn’t trust her and the process of finding a new electrologist just annoyed me even more. It does help to hear it does get better

You are right, I do need to give it another chance, it seems like that is literally my only option. I am having another blood test because of my iron deficiency,it would be useful to know if anything has changed… but highly doubt it. My only issue now is letting my chin hair to grow when it makes me feel so insecure, I just don’t think I can let it grow. I am Asian and I have dark hair so I feel as though everyone can see it. Trimming chin hair isnt great either, it can be difficult to get to it and not hurt myself in the process. But I guess I have to suck it up and think long term maybe it can change.
@@rhea2257 it took me years to get diagnosed since I had irregular periods from the very beginning, until I switched gynecologists and she instantly urged me to get a pituitary glad MRI (contrasted) since it is usually the cause (hyperprolactinoma), since that I have been on a very low dosage of medication to regulate the hormone and the microadenoma had eventually disappeared (although the prolactin issue still remains). I understand your situation and sympathise with you. Even though my excess hair luckily doesn't grow in a male pattern, it still is bothersome and upsetting. I had to change 3 electrologists to finally find the one I liked. Ironically, one of them also suggested I try laser, which is totally absurd. Once I explained my issue to my current specialist she instantly remarked on that common laser consequence (paradoxical hair growth). The hardest part aside from waiting for results is finding the right electrologist, but from there on out it will be so worth it. Good luck to you and please take heart!!
As I understand, you suggest electrolysis for facial hair and laser for body hair. Won't paradoxical hair growth happen on arms or legs if you laser these areas while having pcos?
Laser worked so well on body parts that I had done (legs, underarms and bikini). There was hair all over these areas so there was no way of any stimulation to happen if you know what I mean. To be more specific, laser works well on an area that has hair all over it. But for my chin, it stimulated more hair because it was an area that had thick hair and then fine hair leading up towards the rest of my face/neck. Need to be careful when choosing what hair removal to use depending on the body part and the type of hair in that area.
@@melisatesbel Ah, I get it now. I don't have facial hair but I'm currently doing electrolysis on my lower legs because I was afraid that laser would make the hair grow thicker.
@@paracoco1761 The chin/neck area is a hormonal area but the lower legs should be completely fine! I had my last leg session in 2019 and the results are still great!
@@melisatesbel thank you so much! Do you also recommend cleansing the skin before and after a session to prevent acne or bacteria from entering the skin? This is what I do now but washing my face that closely twice can feel stripping. Just trying to prevent breakouts and prolonged healing!
@@sweetx0vmp Some beauty therapists recommend you wash the skin to keep it clean (which works for some people) BUT I personally found that this gave me spots. I personally keep the skin dry for the first day and this prevents spots for me. I tell my clients It’s best to try both and see what works for their skin.
Hej recently i see you videos about electrolysis can you tell me that if I have pcos from 6 years and my ficial hair becoming worse and increasing more does electrolysis will work and it's results will be permanent plzzz ans me mam
Electrolysis will work but it won’t be a permanent result because of the hormone imbalances that pcos cause. So after you have the majority of the hair removed, you will need to maintain the results by having top up sessions a few times a year. When I was trained in 2015, we were told that the hair growth cycle has an impact on effectiveness. Updated courses/research say it doesn’t matter what stage the hair is in
I am doing electrolysis for 1 and a half year. When I started I was going once a month. After seeing your videos I started going every 2 weeks but I haven't seen any results yet. I've been going every 2 weeks for 6 months. I was thinking that the reason why I haven't seen hair reduction is because I shave and make the hair stronger. I feel discouraged and I am thinking to start laser. I have been told that laser is not a permanent hair removal way and the only permanent way is electrolysis. But it seems that it doesn't work for me 😞 I am so confused.
@@demidi1489 I went every 2 weeks for 1.5 years and gave up the first time. Don’t make the same mistake as me and keep going! As long as you’re not feeling the hair pluck during your treatment, it’s being done correctly and the hair is being destroyed. Keep calm and carry on you’ll thank yourself later!
@@melisatesbel I am not sure how I should feel during the treatment so I can tell if it's done correctly. I can tell that it's painful enough as you have also mentioned in your videos. Could you please describe the feeling? Is it supposed to be painful when they apply the electricity or when they pull the hair out?
I went to my first appointment and I was really disappointed because I basically have a full face of hair and she didn't do much in 30 minutes. My real problem is after doing all this research I got enough information to think my electrolysis doesn't know what she's doing despite saying she's done this for 30 years and unfortunately she is the only one "in my area". Shes 45 minutes away. Anyone else is 1 hour or longer away. She also didn't give me basically any after care advice. I think she might have assumed that since I said I have been researching that I know what to do, but I don't.
Sorry to hear that you didn't have a great experience. If there is a full face of hair and they are all very close together, 30 minutes is not enough time to get rid of a huge amount. If you have sensitive skin, she may have been spreading out the removal of hairs a little more too. This means it will take a long time to get results but the skin will heal better. I forgot to mention, she was plucking hairs that I could feel were still intact and not zapped. She also told me that I couldn't shave in between. She said I could only clip. With the research I was doing I had not read or heard anyone say you can't shave . Do you think I should give up on electrolysis if she doesn't know what shes doing? She says she has 30 years of experience. She's the only person anywhere near me. I'm trying to decide if it will be worth it if she's still missing hairs. What do you think?
@@DezzeShattered If you feel loads of hair plucking throughout the treatment then I recommended you stop because it will be a waste of time and money. If it was just a couple hairs then that’s ok it was by mistake. I think the other things can be overlooked but plucking is a big no from me personally
