i have a strat and a jackson and the low strings just break like the end near the brige frays and i dontg know why it happens on both guitars

Really great information, especially the Mitchell abrasive cord. Just ordered some! FYI - I don't seem to have too much breakage with Stringjoy Strings, mostly other brands or when I really bend a 9... or sometimes a 10! But I'll be checking all my guitars with my LED Eyeglass magnifier in the next few days. 🙂 Thanks!!!

There are two more spots where strings tend to break: at the holes on the tail piece on TOM-bridges, and on the holes in the trem plate, where the string comes from the saddle and goes at an angle down in the trem bloc. Those edges are often razor sharp. On all sharp edges I use a Dremel with a fine stone and finalize it with abrasive rubber cylinder. Finally lubing sparely the contact of the string in the saddle groove, on the trem plate, on the nut, except on tuners(!), will help the string to slip on those now rounded corners and minimize the point load. 😊

Yep! I was going to share the lubing and how that’s always a good idea. Most of the string breaking we were addressing is covered here, but I definitely plan on adding more solutions in the future.

I’m really hoping my guitar has a problem like this and it’s not my technique. I just broke a string. Replaced it, and like 20 minutes later, I broke it again. I was playing the rhythm guitar for CCR Born on the Bayou. Not exactly shredding…

I had one of the G strings, that kept breaking at the tuning peg on my 12 strings guitar. I took some 000 steel wool and rolled it into a rope so I can fit in the tuning peg hole and removed the burr.

My problem with fixing this problem is mostly being about to see. Yes, age can be a terrible thing. My nails are full of burrs too ha! Have to see if my brother has a good loop. I think I was sorta able to see something with my camera macro zoom but I just don't want to put a new pack on and snapola. I was reflecting back to when I first got my Martin, I was breaking them at the post. Last year I got a new Les Paul and have been breaking them at the saddle(4th string). I actually thought it was heavy picks but was wrong. I think all new guitars have a breaking in period. The heavy picks no doubt contributed to the burrs though. Too much tension.

I've never had string breakage at the bridge or at the tuners. Polish your frets every month and you'll be fine.

This does not cover string breakage or to be more accurate string unwinding at the ball end in a Duesenberg term LPll system. The only way I have found to resolve this is by sodering the string wraps at the ball end. There is no breakage so to speak The string literally unwinds. Any thoughts?

Have you had this issue with our strings? We hear about this a lot from other brands but it is extremely uncommon with Stringjoys.

@@Stringjoy It's less of a breakage problem as a unwinding problem and the ball end. And it is the plain strings doing it. It I solder those ends before installation They don't unwind.... I have 2 guitars equipped with Deusenberg Trem Lesll systems and they both have isuess. See if you have this system somewhere in your shop. Or if you know someone with it. I have gone over the system with a fine toothed comb. Works perfectly. In fact they work better than any other term system I have, And (all) my guitars have terms... Thanks guys. Let me know what you come up with. Solder is the only thing I found that works. Richard. PS; I saw your strings on Amazon today...

i break way too many strings on my acoustic, maybe because i like to strum a little harder than i should on my 008 strings with my 2mm pick lol

I have had strings unwind at the ball end on tail pieces that suspend the string by grabbing the ball coming straight out. While playing they continue to go flat until the string becomes completely unwound. I think it happens mostly after completely loosening the string and putting it back on but I am not sure. That subject should be investigated.

We don't have this happen very often with our strings (I've only heard about one or two cases in 8 years) but I know it happens with other companies strings more frequently. Typically it's just strings not being ball-ended properly. Most companies run their ball-ending machines toon fast IMHO.

No matter what I do the strings always snap. My strings always snap near the brigade. Even got the bridge fixed and still snaps for nothing. No it never snaps at the nut

@@Stringjoy Try listening to it in a tour bus while it's pouring rain with a number of other musicians are doing what they will. The interviewer's voice is fine but the interviewee's voice is completely lost. If fact, look at his voice on a meter and compare it to the other voice. If both voices were at equal levels it would be great. It's just not.

@@trashteeth three pair but they all kind of suck and with way different levels they even suck more! I do have a fairly decent pair of AKGs for my laptop but they are in the bay.
