Similar but different purity of ingredients. Thank you for your question. Everyone else just tried to be facetious and wonder why they got the response that they did
@@AfrikanHairGod thank you, I was prompted by your explanation to research further for clarification. I found that petroleum is the liquid crude oil from which petrolatum is derived. I had been thinking the relationship was sisters or cousins perhaps. But now I understand it’s mother and daughter. I am MCS and some petroleum derived products are toxic to me. Thank you so much. Your affirming and informative videos are such a gift to us wanting to care for our hair vs fight it into submission. 👍🏾💐👏🏾
That’s EXACTLY what I’m transitioning back to. Since trying all this new stuff, my hair has shedded and broken off terribly. No worries, it will grow back as soon as I get back to basics. At least now I know what NOT to do….
Same! After so many years I’ve finally got my staples. Everytime I try and get cute and not use grease my hair is dry and snapping!!! I only use it on my stands tho. Not my scalp. I don’t really use anything on my scalp. I only use oil when my scalp is exposed because i like the shiny scalp look😂.
I alternate between grease and oil, and my hair has been flourishing. I stopped using grease at the beginning of my hair journey to see how my hair would react. When I tell you my hair drier than Sahara Desert. I went back to using grease immediately, and my hair went back to its normal moisturized state. Grease will always be a staple for me.
Yes...I am one of the ones who got sidity following the new natural hair tips online and let me tell you, my hair paid for it for years. I found myself remembering the times when my hair was at its healthiest, and, lo and behold it was during the times when I used to grease my hair. SO I'm back to basics now!
I will love to see shorts on how to prep hair for protective style especially for folks that like to use synthetic hair to make sure our hair doesn’t dry out. I like to apply on hair grease after leave in conditioner to retain the moisture
Water and shampoo regularly when having protective styles in ESPECIALLY braids. Drinking lots of water helps too. People forget that they still need to take care of their hair even in these protective styles
@@AdjetivoJonesmy only issue with that is the potential for matting and not being able to moisturize very well with my hair in braids. I wanna get braids soon but rn I’m leaning towards misting irdk tho
Thanks for talking about this. You inspired me to go back to softee hair grease. When i finally went buy it, I smelled my childhood. It reminded me of my grandmother (she been gone since 2013). All i can say is yes this has helped my hair alot with keeping it moisturized. I currently use it with camille rose leave-in in my flat twist protective style. My twists finally last the 2 weeks i need them to. ❤❤
I LOOOVE grease okay! Grease nourishes my 4c hair. I use the hemp Indian hair grease as well or Doo Gro triple strength time to time. I use it on my daughter’s hair too. I was using grease with a mixture of this tea tree aloe vera gel I get on Amazon and JBCO on my daughter’s head and it her hair grew so long. She had healthy waist length hair at 4 years old. That was a year ago. Then I tried coconut oil and products that contained coconut oil in it (which is nearly all of them on the market nowadays SMH) and it was sooo drying that it broke our hair off!! So now I’m on a new hair growth journey and back to using my holy grail products. The simpler my products and styles the healthier was our hair!
@@antinatalistwitch111 I actually love sweet almond oil and olive oil depending on what I’m doing. I also use Bronners Brothers hair moisturizer or mango butter but that’s where I set my limits. They’ve all worked for us. But yeah coconut oil was the devil. I’ll look up the benefits of flaxseed oil thanks!
My mom did my hair and my sisters hair religiously every Saturday and it was super dax 100% lanolin amd haitian castor oil !! Hair was NEVER dry and we had hair down our lower back. When the hair was unbraided for wash day, the curls were soft and poppin!! She didnt use alot. I am back to lanolin when I braid my daughter's hair and my sons hair
I've been natural since 2008, right when the natural hair care products started to make an appearance. I became a product junkie, but lately have found myself going back to grease (my sister, as well, who is almost 50 and who has never had a relaxer). We're going back to the good stuff that never did us wrong and was affordable.
A lot of us naturals stopped using grease in the beginning of our hair journeys because all the gurus said it wasn't good for us. But I also noticed that my hair was/is still really suffering from dryness. Back when our moms did our hair with grease and basic items, our hair was long. Go back and look at your grease school pictures... just saying. Im going back to grease, and I am currently already using it on my daughters hair. And her hair is much more moisturized.
Thank u. Cause I'm tired hearing don't use hair grease with petroleum. My granny used it. My mom. Hair never broke off. I stopped now breaking ... that you for info. ..
I was literally thinking today how my hair has come a LONG way since watching your videos and sticking to water and grease. Thank you for your content!!!❤
You are right about it treating skn ailments. I cut myself on my pinkie finger sticking my hand in a bag and there was a disposal razor and it sliced me in several spots. I didn't have a band aid but I remember when I watch UFC they smear Vaseline on cuts during the fight. So I did the same it stopped bleeding and its healing nicely with no band aid.
I went back using hair grease after years of expensive natural hair products and not being able to retain any length. My hair stays moisturized and I see way less breakage so I think I will be able to retain some length going forward! Water and grease that's it!
I was the same way as a professional using "professional salon quality products" they just don't compare to how well hair grease works for natural hair and hairstyles
Petrolatum is natural. It’s the byproduct of petroleum. It’s sourced from the earth….fossils…remains of plants and animals. Lanolin comes from live sheep.
The fact that you can tap on her comment and it takes you to the vid where she left her comment is wild.. I had to go find my pearls to clutch for this one!!
i think im gonna to start using grease for my loc retwists. usally i use a home made flaxe seed gel and argon oil but maybe ill try grease to help retain moisture better because my scalp gets so dry.
I’ve gone back to using hair grease for moisture retention for 4years as I find the various hair butters leave my hair too waxy and doesn’t hold the moisture as much.
Because they believe geese clogs the scalp. Which leads to dandruff. But in reality grease it too big to clog the pores, it simply “covers” it. Think a bucket, imagine a sheet covering the top of the bucket, rather than the sheet being in the bucket. Grease is the sheet over the bucket, allowing air in and out. Coconut oil is the sheet in the bucket, filling it. Not allowing nothing else in or out. Hope this helps
I love the sent of most hair grease. My scalp doesn't like anything. It's been years since I've been able to use grease. Since my last psoriasis outbreak on the scalp, I use a cream to nourish my scalp. I use oils for overnight treatment before washing
Good thing for me I never listened to anyone who said don't use hair grease. It didn't make sense then and it sure as hell doesn't make sense now. I actually use hair grease on my edges as opposed to gel.
I’m glad I found your channel. What do you think about using shea butter on the hair as a sealant instead of grease? I really like shea butter, but now that I’m seeing this I wonder is grease the better option……
Use what you feel works best for you but I hate shea butter. I don't think it's great as a moisture retainer. The hair is always greasy but dry underneath when I would use it or get clients that used it. Try grease for yourself and see but be sure your clarify that shea butter off cuz it's stubborn
I have softee and im using it on my natural hair for the first time. I used it with a camille rose honey leave in that i wasnt too fond of but i will keep trying to see what works best with it. My hair loves thick creamy products!
I can’t imagine that being a good product combo after having used both separately I’d say to simply use the grease alone and wet hair right after washing when it’s most hydrated
I remember when all the young ones were talking about I don’t use grease. Years later; they needed a big chop bc our hair needs oil! We don’t shampoo daily bc then our hair would be Brillo dry! Our sebum doesn’t overly produce like other people! So while you were frying and drying your hair out…I was waiting on your hair repair appointment. 💯 Better put a lil oil on it! 😂
How should one correctly apple grease? Should we do like back in the day, part the hair and take a dab down the part? Or should we isolate the grease to the bottom half of our strands?
Yup when I first went natural oil just wasn’t doing it. Went back to blue magic and my hair stays moisturized longer. Just find you a could clarifying shampoo
All you need a lil dab, enough to see a “shine” on your finger. Almost translucent in color, but enough to see to the color. Think the Dax brand, (I use this), it’s green right? You shouldn’t see that deep green on your finger when you go insert your finger, just a “clear” green. That amount is more than enough for your scalp. Now for your strands, I apply a quarter of a dime sized amount, for each section of your hair. So if you part your hair in 4 sections, after you blowdry, a quarter of a dime sized amount is plenty. Just rub your hands together and run it through your hair. Especially ends! Hope this helps!
I wear my hair in a curly tapered cut and typically use a leave-in, mousse, and gel. How could I incorporate grease into my haircare routine? I kindaaa want to grow my hair (because I really want braids and mini twists lol), but I mostly want to keep my curls popping and juicy!
