Congrats on your weight loss! I am researching Hotworx. I find your experience rather disturbing. I’m so sorry that you didn’t feel welcome anywhere! You seem like a lovely person. Just some feedback sis hotworx is for us introverts. Lol. I honestly don't think it was about you at all. All of this happens at my hotworx and I love it I want to be left alone. Lol. Most people want the sauna to themselves even if you see 3 people on the flyer. Just a different perspective. Not trying to invalidate your experience at all. Love and light. You'll find your tribe❤ .

Your points are valid because I have even shared on my other videos that I like to have my own room. But you leave a room with a smile and a "Its not you its me" type of phrase, or you could leave with an eye roll and in a huff. The latter is what would occur. I continued to go there for a year and a half, but at some point, for my own mental health, I had to step away.

I am with you... I am a black plus sized woman (down 130 pounds). I really enjoy the introvert environment of my HOTWORX. Now for the employees, I need then to be friendly, members are paying for a service. I love my HOTWOX near Atlanta 🙂

@@TheChristopherFamI’m sorry you had this experience. A new Hotworx was built down the street from my house so I transferred to the location once it opened. To touch on sharing the room, ever since Covid when the company went down to only allowing one person per room I have not deviated from that. I will not reserve a room if someone is in it and if someone is in my reserved room, ANYONE, I will quickly reserve another room. I LOVE being in there by myself. I figured out that the 5am crowd is minimum to nonexistent so that’s when I go when I do go BUT I acknowledge your experience and definitely know what’s it like to know that you know that you know that you are unwelcomed in a space. Hopefully by now you have found something better 🙏🏾

I am a plus sized black woman and I have to say that I have felt the same way when going to some of the "mainstream" fitness centers. I joined a Yoga studio a few years ago and never felt welcomed. I walk past a Orange Theory every week, I think about joining but every time I peak in, I don't see anybody who looks like me so I keep moving. Right now the only place I actually feel comfortable working out is Planet Fitness or at home. I bought that walking pad and I love it!!

I so sorry that these interactions were so negative. I will admit that the reason I enjoy HOTWORX is because I really don’t see other people at the hours I go. Good for you prioritizing your mental health along with your amazing fitness journey. Don’t ever let unhappy people slow down your progress. ❤❤

I walked into a studio one time in my house clothes, no make up, hair in a bun and the staff was so rude to me. Several days later I came back after work so I was dressed nicely and hair done and the same staff member was so nice to me!! Some people 😔😔

I agree. I wish we would normalize being friendly and making friends at fitness clubs. It could be a viable 3rd space!

Im sorry you went through that. I honestly would have ignored her. She wasnt the owner. Now way Im going to not have my sauna time cause she wasnt raised right. Im so mad cause the HOTWORX by my house was suppose to open 9 months ago and still has not opened.

Thank you! I am honestly more sensitive/aware of/ affected by others' energy or mood than most people. I wish I could just ignore them and not let it impact me, but then I wouldn't be me. If it had only been one person, I could have managed, but it was not. ❤️❤️❤️

I am so sorry that you felt that way. People disgust me. I can't stand judgement from people that have never walked in our shoes. I go to hotworx and I refuse to share a workout with someone else in a room. Our hotworx is new so sessions are not booked up for for more than one person. I got in on the pre membership for new opening. Less than going out for dinner. So far do good but if I experience what you did, corporate would know and I'd leave too. You are young and beautiful. I am 67 now and I can tell you there is prejudice against age as well. But you know what? Those young'ins will be my age someday. HA!

That’s terrible that you went through that kind of experience. I’m a little skeptical now, given that i signed up last week for a Hotworx studio that’s opening in my hometown next month. I got the discount for doing it early. I’m a black male, 30, and currently 290. I’ve done workouts and diets in the past, at one point having been 210 when active regularly. But life likes to…life a lot and hard at times. I get self-conscious being a bigger guy, to the point where I preferred trying to do stuff at home versus the gym; I couldn’t stand the looks, or the afterschool teenagers that would crowd around at a station and glance my direction and laugh. Even at 3:30am-4:00 am before I went to work I would find people who seemed judgmental. I’m hoping things can be different, that maybe I can do it early in the morning to catch an empty room, and maybe alleviate some of the aches and pains I’m experiencing. Thank you for your videos on this topic. They’re well researched and explained.

Your skin and hair look awesome. I agree don’t pay people who mistreat me. I’m 247 pounds and sometimes people will walk on the parkway as if my weight is contagious. I’ll smile sometimes or wave because people want overweight people to be embarrassed. When we All have our vices, mine is just more obvious.

I went to a hot yoga class yesterday, loved it, the girls were snobs! I simply don’t care, love the workout, going back tomorrow! It’s hard, because we want that welcoming feeling, especially when we are paying our money! Nobody is coming to intimidate me at this point, but I am old and don’t care!!!!!

An introvert’s ideal workout place. Honestly, there is no way to fit three people next to each other. HOTWORX needs to make the rooms a bit bigger to accommodate three people. I like it there.

I'm looking for a gym where i would feel comfortable at. The Hotworx up the road would be perfect for me. If i can get my stuff, I'll be fine. Considering gym culture since 2019, I might as well wear sunglasses when go workout. Earbuds are going to stay in anyway.

I’m 58 5’4 175 45 pounds overweight trying to get under the radar 138 of being called obese 😒 history of back surgery I really wish the rooms were bigger I do hot blast the elliptical bike frustrated not very ergonomic awkward trying to get on the machines I haven’t seen any staff my age ??? Would be nice to know someone who’s gone through having kids menopause Just saying…

Maybe they are like me. I would be so happy if people avoided me in these lil rooms. The last thing i want to do while sweating and wprking out is see someone next to me sweating and working out. Don't want anybody bothering me or talking to me. Smile, yes! Talk, no! Im exercising.

I totally understand, preferring to be alone or not bothered while working out. That was my preference as well, but to huff, roll eyes, ignore, speak rudely too is not things I personally am willing to do to others or have done to me. Also, let's not forget the behavior of staff members.

I hate that you had to experience this type of discrimination. The reason people are working out at a gym is because of an insecurity already, so why make people feel worse. That is horrible, and glad you picked up on it and made the choice to leave; it is going to mess with your mental health.

Today, the owner of my homework told my friend that we had to put our yoga mats in front of the TV instead of the opposite way. My friend is tall, and we thought that was fine. She came at us when we got out and told us in front of everyone. So, we are done just because we come there to relieve stress and not be bitched on. Not to mention, no third person wanted in or was waiting, so…
