That's the point. They kept portraying Krell as the villain for doing that, but uh, ALL GENERALS DO THAT! They don't want to risk their neck, it's not selfish, villainous, it's common sense. Something Filoni lacks.

Meh, depends. Historically Generals were expected to get dug in as well, though not all the time but at strategic points in the battle, Generals standing back and watching is a very modern things. Mostly because we change the expecations of how leadership is supposed to work and also because technology now allows it. In Star Wars you should realistically expect Generals to be subordinate to Admirals or some other rank of officer in charge of the fleets that run the logistics of the different fronts, each fleet should run it's own High Command coordinating the multiple generals leading the ground fighting. Each planetary invasion would be it's own war.

The fans also try to justify the bad writing with “it’s George Lucas’ show.” When the truth is George had no creative control in how they executed any of it. He really didn’t care. He did the same things he did with the EU, share ideas, veto stuff & track their progress. He oversaw the show because he was paying for it but he really wanted to do other stuff. People then always try to argue that he was as involved with movies 5 & 6, which is ridiculous. He was very much invested in how 5 and 6’s story pans out. In TCW he told them they’re bringing back Maul (which yes is a terrible idea) but he didn’t care to get involved with how it’s orchestrated. Filoni admits to asking how to do it and George tells him to “figure it out.” That’s someone who does not care about the story’s progression in this cartoon. Now can you imagine George telling anyone during the OT to “figure an idea out” ? No way. George was far too invested in the details of his movies, to the point of being an insecure perfectionist. George did not care about the cartoon’s story (and storytelling is George’s strength which explains a lot). Filoni had full creative control and that’s why we’re stuck with ahsoka everywhere.

@@sek954 Excellent points! This is probably one of the most frustrating things for me, especially since George's name is often thrown around to ward off criticism, but whenever the fans praise the show, all that praise goes to Filoni. Double standard much?

@@russianoverkill3715 Ehh, I wouldn't call him a terrible writer. He's far from the best and has made a lot of questionable choices, but there's no denying he founded one of the greatest franchises of all time.

@@imyouralibi6208 yeah, no argument here, but this great franchise started with the hard of work of many people, not just George. And when he got rid off those people the quality went down, starting from ROTJ.
