Here's a q for you: do you think Pod is alive? I'm not so sure, but I want him to be. It feels like a death that Brienne will hold against herself, but I'd much prefer getting ser, my lady wrong over and over again in the new books. What do you think?

Even George R R Martin wanted Lady Stoneheart to make it into the show version. But Dan and David didn't care they didn't respect or honor him enough to do so they didn't care about his wishes or wants.

I like to imagine a world where GRRM finishes the books and MAX commissions competent writers who love the source material and wish to honor it the way D&D did for the first 4 seasons, they do an anime that continues the story as depicted in seasons 1-4 and starts there, the cold open would be the very ending of Storm of Swords, where we are introduced to Lady Stoneheart as she hangs the Frey, chilling way to start the series and establish the feel of the show much the way it did by showing the white walkers in the series premier's opening scene.

Someday something animated could be interesting. That’s what I’m hoping for with the 10,000 Ships/Nymeria concept someday, but too obscure for casual readers/viewers.

When LSH puts brienne on trial she gives her a choice: the noose or the sword. The word brienne shouts in her last chapter in feast was sword. Jaime had a dream when he was laying on a weirwood stump where he and brienne are in a dark place and she asks for a sword so they can fight some invisible enemy and as Jaime's resolve wavers the flame around his sword winks out. I'm excited to see how their stories will continue because of this dream

In my opinion; This will be the point where he will be redeemed. Brienne will confess before arriving, Jaime will see Catelyn's resurrection as the appearance of the Stranger, he will be compulsive in finding her. Out of everything, the Jaime of Feast, is one full of guilt and doubts, he will find in this LHS not a challenge to prove himself as a hero, he will see it as an end, the consequence of his life. He will come to his own resolution, and confess all his crimes, everything that weighs on his conscience. From Cersei, to Bran, he will confess and somehow, LHS will find him innocent of the Red Wedding, but will ask him for an oath. I think Jaime's trip to the North will be seen because of LHS.

I HATE that the show didn't include Lady Stoneheart, or the real Aegon Targaryen. I also HATE that they didn't make Stannis exactly like his character from the books. I also HATE that they made Euron Greyjoy different and watered down compared to his much better book version of his character.

I thought it was funny the first time I read that Stoneheart is making incorrect conclusions about Jaime's character as well as Brienne's, much as she did about Jon Snow when she was still alive, going so far as to think he's got evil intentions up to the point of her death at the Red Wedding...mistaken in death much as she was in life.

There is a tendency in fandom to view LSH a character interested only in Vengeance. Quite often this errs on Cat not being in there at all. Granted it appears true. However, while vengeance appears to be all she does, the more subtle questions suggest this is more of an indulgence as she attempts to find Arya. The BWB knows Arya was alive and in the wild. The question though goes to purpose. If she was one of the few things GRRM most regrets loosing, she can't just be there for that. Beric could have done it without passing life onto Cat. There must be something she can do that Beric could never possibly do bo matter how you try. It's a very complex theory, but what I suggest is Robb fooled us as readers. He did legitimize Jon, but he designed Cat to choose his heir. She wants a choice that's not Jon. Narratively you have to remove Arya as a consideration or you have to make Sansa a better/easier option from her perspective. Her purpose is to crown a queen, probably at Harrenhall. But you need to move the pieces in that direction. To that end, I submit that LSH will force Jaime and Brienne into a trial by combat that recalls a moment in Jaime's life that he looked away. One will be threatened by fire and the other tied to a tree out of reach of a sword. This will mirror a similar narrative in the Crofters where Theon will face burning or beheading. This has to resolve to move the story forward though. They have to win a trial by combat. To that end I submit that Arya, warged into Nymeria will witness this trial. Arya will however have a change of heart. Nymeria will bring the sword to the bound one. This will present to LSH and others an intervention by the gods. Presenting LSH with a hope she doesn't currently have. Somehow this should result in sending them to retrieve Sansa. There is a red witch in several narratives and it's role is as a Kingmaker. Mel makes Stannis. Quaith makes Dany. LSH is a red witch of sorts and should thus be a kingmaker of sorts. There is an argument for Jon, but this seems more like cope. Jon already has Mel when Stannis fails. So LSH's king/queen must be someone else, otherwise she's redundant because Mel can do anything we might expect from LSH.

How does Jaime redeem himself for shoving Bean out a window? Seems like this is done often forgotten about in his "redemption." He doesn't seem to be trying to right that wrong.

Sir Arlen, Dunk squires for but fails to knight him… if grrm ever works on that story again, and he just might since it’s coming to tv, then I think we’ll find sir Arlen is indeed kind of useless… I’m afraid he’s the true lunk in that story… bumbling from lord to lord, fighting for THEIR cause, even tho he wants to fight for right and teaches dunk to do so in his words, and intent, but when all is said and done the things they do will work out the other way round… which thankfully is what taught our boy dunk how to be a true knight, despite Arlen dying without so much as knighting Dunk, tho he likely did intend to do so… the time was never right and then time was up. Sir usless is both a direct parallel and a reverse parallel of Arlen and dunk experience serving both

Lady Stoneheart serves a purpose for the reader we Berric coming back and each time he is less than man he was. Catlyn being resurrected is showing that as an obvious dead character her last thoughts and emotions are driving force and their not going be new emotions to allow her change. I don't think Brienne will betray Jaime and tells him everything about the situation. The Brotherhood is probably going die and Stoneheart will escape in the confusion.

Lady Stoneheart is a wildcard. I wonder what will happen with her and the BWB and now Jaime and Brienne with the information that Arya is alive (Lady SH was looking for the Hound and knows Arya with him). That's where I see this storyline going. Jaime and Brienne cut a deal to bring her back. But that's just a thought. Thank you for the thought provoking content. My first. Liked and subbed.

Catelyn Stark died. Lady Stoneheart is not Carelyn Stark. Brienne's oaths to Catelyn died with Catelyn's death. Her dying turned her into a monster, an evil being. Catelyn Stark no longer exists save as a memory. Brienne's commitment to rescuing Arya and Sansa is a choice she could make because she feels doing so is the right choice to make. Her obligations are to the living.

Interesting point. I always saw Stoneheart as Cat with no filter. Cat was ruthless in some ways. She was cruel toward Jon. She was impulsive and unwise. Please let me know your thoughts as Stoneheart as Cat with no prefrontal cortex.
@sdzielinski
@sdzielinski 19 дней назад
@@taotaostrong Cat was not a morally unambiguous person. She harmed Jon because her vanity could not tolerate caring for another woman's child. Forbidding Jon to say goodbye to Bran, which Jon rightly ignored, and then saying to Jon that "it should have been you" in the cripple's bed is as vile as anything Cersi or Geoffrey or any other Westrosi monster would have said to anyone. And, as one person called her, "Cat was the Karen of the North." She, as much as anyone, was responsible for the Five King's war and all of the death and destruction that War caused. Moreover, Baric Dondarrion and Jon Snow died and were resurrected. Both were warriors, and were thus guilty of killing. But, even if their deaths didn't turn them into monsters, it did diminish them. Cat's resurrection produced Lady Stoneheart, a batshit crazy and resentful killer. She certainly was diminished by dying and returning. Brienne, Jamie and Podrick were innocent of the Red Wedding. Yet, Lady Stoneheart wanted them dead. If Cat's Tyrion-hated was born of a pre-existing hatred intensified by a lie, it still seemed correctable by reason and evidence while she was alive. Lady Stoneheart, on the other hand, lives in a space that us beyond reason, justice and mercy. She leads the once defensible men without banners on a killing spree that appears out of proportion to the crimes committed against her and her family. She littered her path with corpses. So, she changed. The question is: What accounts for that change? I would say that the Red Wedding broke her. Like the Broken Men, she had lost her humanity even before her body died. The Red Wedding murdered her soul before it murdered her body. It made her a vengeful ghoul. Killing Cat at the Red Wedding was, in an odd sense, an act of mercy. Her resurrection damned her to live her life nearly dead, in a Hell on earth.

"Breaking guest right is something the gods cannot forgive" Lady Stoneheart is "the gods" punishment for breaking guest right. Or the curse of breaking guest right is using Catelyn's body and consciousness as a vessel to enforce the the curse. Catelyn Tully/Stark is the same as Lady Stoneheart as a caterpillar is to a butterflly with neurolink.

The thing to remember is that unlike a book, a TV show has a budget for cast. George expanded the story, adding more and more characters. No TV show could afford that. I'm not defending the choices that were made and the directions taken, but things were going to be cut

Not including Lady Stoneheart was a great decision by the show runners. That way Jon's resurrection was more surprising and impactful. The book having so many dead people come back to life makes Jon's return predictable and regular. Nothing special. The show should have removed Beric as well.
@RyanKrauss-oc7bq
@RyanKrauss-oc7bq 13 дней назад
Beric was important to establish it was possible much earlier. Removing him would have made Jons look like nothing more than a dues ex machina. At least this way it is was just regular plot armor that applied to more than just a main character.

@@RyanKrauss-oc7bq I'd rather it look like deus ex machina than to never for a second believe that Jon died. When I read Jon's stabbing, I immediately thought and believed that he isn't really dead and will just get resurrected, like they already proved was possible with Beric and Lady Stoneheart. I think Jon being alive is more impactful as deus ex machina than just one of many not really deads. But that's just me. Some people don't like being surprised, so I get just wanting to know from the first stab that Jon dying was just silliness. I would have preferred to actually think he was dead. Oh well for me.
