As an animal control officer, I've grown to love them so much! They are fiercely loyal. I compare them to all the protective breeds. German Shepherd, Rottweiler, Doberman and Chows. Unfortunately they're so over bred and irresponsible ppl get them. I love them!❤️

I still can't understand why there is no Ban for large scale BREEDING,SELLING! Spay neutering a must! Why POLITICIANS don't get involve and Law ENFORCEMENT in this? While BILLIONS guilty nothing HELPLESS ANIMALS DYING and different breeds to! All my animals was from adopted from KILLING SHELTERS and LOVE any mix or breed! For animals sake and people also ANIMALS SHOULD BE PROTECTED AND PUPPY MILLS OR SELLING SHOULD BE BAN, SAME AS IRRESPONSIBLE PEOPLE! PRAYERS FOR CHANGES FOR ANIMALS!

Found out while volunteering at a shelter what a wonderful breed this is. We later fostered a little girl. Within two weeks she was ours. Love her to pieces. She is special

I used to have a rescue pit until she had passed. She was like my best friend and was definitely like a human and didn’t have spacial awareness. She was so good with humans but was overprotective when other dogs tried to approach us. We had another dog eventually and it really helped her get more comfortable with dogs.

I'm a proud Pit Bull Mama X2, & I agree with everything you said about them, especially the part about them being almost human. My girl Pit is just the best dog ever! My boy is an alpha male, & needed more training, but at 9 year old now gets it. Both are rescues. My boy Luke was 1 when I adopted him & my girl Connie was 3. She is now 10.

I've had a golden, two min pins, a chihuahua, and now a pit mix--and he is by far the gentlest, sweetest dog I've ever known. You absolutely need to be aware of their size and power and spend time exercising and training them, but he's deeply loyal, eager to please, and kind and welcoming in a way that I've never encountered in other dogs (much as I really love them all). An absolutely extraordinary breed.

Our Buddy passed away last year, unexpectedly. He was a pit mix and my absolute best friend, my shadow. He was amazing. And chances are, our next shelter adoption will be a pit of some kind. Thank you for all that you do, Lee!

Beautiful message. I rescued Oslo a 1 yr. old Pitbull April 2022. He had patches of hair and scabs all over with every bone showing, it broke my heart. He is now 88 lbs. with a beautiful blue coat and a heart filled with love and joy. In the beginning he would lay on the other side of the room with his back to me. I'd throw a toy and he would get it and then back to the other side of the room. LOL Anyway I took too fast of a sip of coffee and started to cough, and he ran to me jumped up and started licking my mouth trying to help me. That was the most precious thing that I have ever experienced with a dog, and I have had dogs all of my life. 🥰

My sister in law is a pit bull whisperer. She understands working dogs so much. While walking on a beach with her pittie Sammy. They bumped into a guy that was walking his deceased fathers pit bull called Mia. Mia and Sammy got on so well that they arranged to meet up the following weekend to see how the dogs greeted each other. It was at that meeting that Mia became part of the family. She had been staying in a kennel after her owner died and his son would take her out every weekend. Unfortunately, Mia couldn’t go and live with the son because his wife was far too house proud to have a dog. A quick visit to my brother and sister in laws house and the man knew instantly that Mia was in her forever home. He still comes to visit but not so frequently because he knows how settled and happy Mia is. Sharon Milne the dog whisperer of Aberdeen, Scotland. Thank you for taking Mia into our family. 😘

Worked in rescue for years and a part of the reason so many attacks are credited to pits is due to mislabeling. Anything with a slightly square shaped head will be labled pit mix. That being said, Dolce was the best dog I ever had. Lost her young to bone cancer in her pelvis. Inoperable. She was a darling to every person and dog she ever met. Smothered the puppies in affection and would ragdoll in your arms. Miss her so much every day.

My dog is part pit - he is so bonded that he has rarely been on a leash in 7 years he's been with me, and we have been everywhere, from the deserts of Arizona to the mountains in Tennessee to the remote beaches in Louisiana. I know he will never leave me. I have never done a minute of training with him - he knows no 'commands', I have never, once, even raised my voice to him. and I wouldn't have it any other way. We are just 2 old guys living together in perfect harmony. He is approaching the end now and when he goes he will take a part of me that will never be replaced.

Got my first pit bull mix in 2001, Violeta aka Boo. She was the sweetest pup. Next, Brandon, aka Noodles, was a former bait pup and came with baggage…. He was my heart. Then Strawberry Blossom, Goldenrod, Daphne, Froggy (my service pup, rip) and now Iris…. I’ll only have pitties for the rest of my life

I have had pitties all of my life, from my parents getting one when I was an infant and another when I was old enough to start learning to care for an animal myself. They are the original Nanny dog!!!! my husband and I had one together for 16 yrs and he was amazing!! Gentle, loving, loyal and total goof ball. after 16 yrs he passed and we were determined to adopt. which after searching we found our new fur baby, THANK YOU, Pittie love rescue! We have added to our pittie pups and adopted again from a private adoption to insure that she would NOT be used as a breeder. They are our light and are treated just like our human kiddos. kuddos to all those who rescue and live, and love their fur babies🥰

Thank you for your spot on commentary. I adopted a brindle staffie mix and had 10 amazing yrs with her. The first day I met her she climbed up my kids playhouse and went down the slide. Sat on a patio chair with us adults. She stole my heart. She took her last breaths by my side New yrs day 2018. April that year I fostered my current big baby boy. He looked at me with his beautiful eyes and accepted me straight away. The owner never came back for him. They have been companionship and love that is priceless!!

When I got my pit mix. I had watched some videos and I didn't know what I was getting into...I used to, must admit, be scared of pitbulls and that was something it drove me even more to have one. I had to face my fears because I so LOVE animals and was no reason to keep being one of those that would cross the street. Wow....My dog helped me grow as a human being, He taught me so much and I am so thankful. I learned what it is to be a responsible dog owner, how to care for him and not care for what the media or people say while still being respectful since I had been there on the fear side and I know they mean no harm but is the fear that took over their minds. I have taken my dog to classes, watched hundreds of video on training and care...I now can say I am equipped to have a pitbull and one day when I no longer have my dog I will get one from the shelter. I am deeply in love with this breed. I had many dogs before but these dogs are the best of the best.

Thank you for your beautiful words about this special breed. Pit bulls are definitely misunderstood. But from experience, I can say they are the most dorky and silly dogs I have ever had. Their strength and power need to be recognized before having one - not as a bad thing but more precautionary. My beautiful pit was so strong that he could knock my young nephews down in his excitement just to play !! Never a threat; just a zillion pounds of love and joy !! I would love my next dog to be a pittie.

Hi this is a question related to a few videos ago. I'm sorry I couldn't figure out how to go back to that video. It was the video when you, Lee when you were unexpectedly gifted a beautiful New Finland. You shared that no one had ever given you a dog before and that you were so touched and grateful for this gift and that you'd always wanted a Newfie. It was so beautiful to see your reaction to your new dog! I just wondered if you still have this dog? I'm new to your videos but have not seen your Newfie since that video. Maybe this question has already been answered? Thx in advance for catching me up on this!

I agree with your comment about pits being so close and devoted to humans so much! They legit have individual personalities and are so in tune with emotions and expressions. I will never be able to explain the connection that I have made with my boy Moose that I haven't had with other pets in the past. I love all dogs but there is something about pit bulls that is just so extraordinary, if more people gave them a chance and enjoyed the love they have to give the world would be a better place.

Pitties are such big goofballs. I never have met another breed that is so gentle, protective and totally misunderstood as the Pitbull breed. And you are right about their lack of spatial awareness, they think they are little itty bitty pups. The first time I met a Pitbull was amidst the 2000's craziness 'Pitbulls are bad & need to be put down' era. Oskar was a beautiful little idiot. Fearless, loyal and such a gentle soul. He loved everyone, and got so much hatred. Ppl crossed the street to get away from him. He just could not understand how he and his owner got yelled at etc. on the streets. Some neighbours even tried to construe a case against him, but fortunately they had a backyard cam and had footage of the neighbour antagonizing and abusing Oskar when he was in his pool. But we almost lost him (we had very stiff and cruel breed specific laws at that time) because of someone who had heard all that crap about the breed and just wanted him gone. Unfortunately that guy just got a slap on the wrist and Oskar was afraid of going into his own backyard and pool afterwards and they moved afterwards. Anyway, Oskar lived up to a ripe old age of 16 before he succumbed to cancer. He was the best ambassador for his breed. Chihuahuas, Yorkshire Terriers and Goldies lead the list of bite incidents worldwide!!! Not pitbulls, not rotties, not even Aikitas.

My neighbors two pitbulls killed my Aussie while we were in our yard with her 5 week old puppies. I was outside with my two youngest children- out playing with the puppies & momma. It took 3 grown men to get them off my dog- but unfortunately it was far too late. In the years that have passed, I’ve gone out of my way to stop and meet every friendly pitbull I can. I had to refuse to allow that nightmare to change how I saw a whole breed.

I had an 85 pound pit mix who never, not once, showed aggression. When my daughter fostered a 65 pound pitty, he was immediately protective of her and her boyfriend from day 1. Wouldn’t let myself or my husband walk around him, his toys, his bed, my daughter or her boyfriend. I took my cues from him, never got up fast, only interacted with him if he approached. Out of the blue he attacked me, bit my breast then latched onto my leg and cause severe damage to the back of my thigh. Daughter had to pry his jaws off of my leg after he started shaking the flesh. I’m still recovering after 2-1/2 months - puncture wound healed but hematoma still fairly large and bruised. I no longer trust pit bulls or any dog for that matter. I’m glad there are people who give these dogs unconditional love, but I’m no longer sympathetic to the breed.

I have met a few very sweet pit bulls. Unfortunately, our complex is growing in number with Pit Bulls and you can’t count on people being responsible. I have a super social Golden Retriever and he wants to play with any dog or cat willing to. Unfortunately, the people around here aren’t responsible, their Pit Bulls are trying to attack whenever we come across them. With this type of response, these dogs should be muzzled when out. They are strong and have gotten away from their owners. So maybe its not so much the breed that starts out dangerous but becomes dangerous being raised by irresponsible people. Just yesterday I was out walking my dog and a Pit Bull tried started growling and was trying to leap out of a car window. Tillamook, OR.

Working with the homeless ive had the pleasure of engaging with many pitties, they are genuinely the most incredible, intelligent, happy and loyal creatures. We had one guy whose pit didn't like other dogs, he was on the smaller side as the runt of the litter and felt he had to constantly assert himself. Sadly this meant he had to wear a muzzle and that meant that people avoided him - even though he loves all humans with zero bias. I can't forget how thrilled he always was to see me, his owner would drop the lead and this buzzing ball of joy would leap into my arms, every time. Out of all the homeless doggies I engaged with, never once did I deal with an aggressive pitbull. The high level of socialisation they get in that environment makes them really loving to humans and other animals. The only 2 dogs I ever had in the service that were genuinely a risk to people was a chihauhau jack russel mix and a belgian malinois - but in both cases it was nervous reactive dogs paired with nervous reactive owners. When I was alone with both, neither were aggressive. We need to learn to judge each dog as its own "person" with its own needs, desires and traits. All dogs have potential to harm, and labels won't change that. We need to be realising that cause and correlation are not the same thing, dog attacks don't occur in a vaccuum - It's really important to take into consideration the type of homes that tend to get the type of dogs associated with aggression. When times change and popularity of a certain "guard dog" aesthetic wanes, this title goes to a different breed. Its been Dobermans, its been Rottweiler, its been German shepherds - right now its pitbulls. This is not coincedence.

Unfortunately I always believed in the stereotype that pit bulls were dangerous and would attack if possible. My aunt had one and from what I remembered (granted this was almost 30 years ago) they seemed so dangerous and was chained up. My neighbor had one as well when I was 10 and they always barked at me when I passed the house. When I moved to a Puerto Rico my perspective drastically changed. Dogs roamed all the time. While staying with family I freaked out when a black pit bull puppy walked onto the property and I just froze. When I saw his wiggle butt move I relaxed and I immediately fell in love with him. He was the sweetest thing I ever met and played with him when I could. I now have a hound pit mix and he is my world. He is came into my life and the perfect time when the pandemic was at full force and I was dealing with my depression and anxiety which was hitting hard yet again. He was there for me emotionally just as I was for him. He came from a dangerous area in central Virginia where if his owner had not found a home Lord only knows what would’ve happened to him (not because of the owner). Personal space is definitely a thing of the past. He loves to sleep either on my neck/head or on my pillow when he’s above me. Loves playtime and rough housing with his abuelo and human cousin. Is spoiled rotten by his abuela…and me. He has taught me so much about having that pit in him. Wouldn’t trade him for the world.

I wish I could share a picture of my Shepherd/Pitbull mix. She's absolutely gorgeous and a total sweetheart. Loving, loyal, goofy as all heck. But like you said, she has potential just given her size and strength and yes, her prey drive is immense. I have to listen to what her body language is telling me, and 9.9/10 times, she just wants to play with other dogs and invade people's spaces bc she's SO curious. I rescued her 4 years ago and through all of her growth and personality changes, I wouldn't change a thing. Pitbulls are amazing creatures and so grossly misunderstood 💔

Dude. You are the whisperer, for real. I finally found someone that loves dogs to a higher level than me, BUT. Pitbulls have very, very good Spatial awareness, it's just they are, because of they're high awareness and confidence, are so comfortable with everything once they feel ok to do so. It is a function of the design of their heads and jaws. Their jaw pressure is astounding. Couple that with their determination, and once they bite down, it is very hard to force them to release. Unless trained. Any future pit owners should be forced to take a MANDATORY 8 week class, Basic Dog Training, for the PRIVILEGE of owning these wonderful dogs.

Thank you for sharing your view on pitbulls. It is sad that people get a dog and dont cant handle it or abuse them. If you want to own a pet, learn, train the pet, play, give it food, give it love. Every human needs to have dog licence of some sort. In america you have so much problems with homeless animals (and humans) and that is not acceptable.

Who is causing the problems, the abused, abandoned animals, the people, who for whatever reasons have no homes, are abused, neglected by society...USA should spend their billions they spend on wars in other regions on your homeless, animals, and safety for all citizen. Just my take. Good day.

I've owned 4 pits. They're loyal dogs but need alot of socialization from a young puppy age so they don't become animal aggressive. Also always watch them things can get out of control. My current puppy is 8 months half dogo argentino half pitbull he's going to be a big dog but is really calm for being a puppy technically a good thing, he's protective over my kids

I am 70 years old and I have always been terrified of pit bulls. Then a neighbor moved down the road, we live in the country. 2 years ago this crazy scary pit bull ran up to my 5 week old 1/2 Golden 1/2 Lab retriever, and they have been sweethearts ever since. Thank goodness they are both fixed or we would have silly looking puppies. Sometimes I call my buddy and ask “ can Wiley spend the night? “ I absolutely love this pit bull.

We just adopted a beautiful specimen of a pit bull. He is paraplegic and built like a line backer. He came from a method house and was abused resulting in the paralysis. He has chronic wounds on his legs and will become a double amputee Sept 13th. He will be so much happier and healthier and be able to get around so much better without his wheelchair. He is such a honey and listens well and is truly a good boy. His name is Brody.

Thank you for taking on this very special boy! A lot of people would have hesitated making a commitment to Brody just because of the medical costs alone. He is very lucky to have found you with your large and generous heart! The thing that astounds me the most about these pitties is their huge capacity to forgive! It seems that no matter how truly horrendous they have been beaten and abused by humans, they are still so willing to forgive and love the next human that comes along and shows them kindness. Get yourself ready to be showered with undying gratitude and unconditional love when his procedures are over and he's able to move around again! You deserve every bit of the love and loyalty he gives you. I hope the two of you share many many years of long walks and sheer happiness 🥰

@Mariska B. It's illegal in some countries. You call the RSPCA or whatever local authority deals with animal abuse when you see it and the dog owner gets a visit, is informed and warned not to do it again, or if the animal is in poor shape in any way it's confiscated and you may get to go to court, be banned from ownership of pets. It's inhumane as is crating a dog all day when you work full time. Totally animal abuse in Scandinavia, Germany and other nations that insure an extreme level of animal wellfare and dont have ferral, abandoned, broken dogs everywhere because of it. Americans hate all form of regulations. Even though it means any sick person can get an uzi, hoard and mistreat animals systematically, keep their children isolated from society their entire childhood, and let their company dump toxic waste in the water without repercussions. That's your choice. Your version of democratic equal rights and fair government. It will forever be completely mystifying. Yet everyone seems hooked on guys like Lee and what they do, it makes NO sense!

I had a pitbull - the biggest ball of love. He was so emotionally in-tune and aware. So incredibly loving of everyone - cats, dogs, kids... everyone. I believe that it is the most misunderstood and abused breed on the planet. They are intelligent and cannot just be left in the backyard “for protection”. They NEED socializing, they NEED walks, and human interaction. They NEED protection from harm just like every living being.

One day he was weeping and Ricky quickly went to him, climbed up and licked his tears away. He touched both out hearts. Ricky is a source of joy to me .
