Hornets have had the most atrocious draft selections. Literally one real starter and that's Kemba Walker. Luckily Devonte Graham is good that saves them.
reversed rewind they just don’t select the right guys and I don’t think players wanna play for the Kings when is the last time they had a winning record ? The team still has no direction
reversed rewind this is the correct answer. Their player development is the problem. Look at a team like the Spurs who are renowned for their player development, it’s not a coincidence that they always seem to draft ‘hidden gems’ in the late 1st and 2nd round.
The Kings have guys who have very narrow vision of how to build a team in the modern era. Granted Sacto and Phoenix will def look like clowns for the next decade passing on Doncic (hell the Mavs traded up and assets to get the chance to pick him) but it speaks in volumes when they don't believe that a big athletic wing with with loaded offensive skills as a scoring ball handler is premium value. Better than separating that into 3 different players who are limited in their own way with Fox, Bagley and Hield who the Kings now have as their future core and trying to surround them just so the Kings can sneak into the playoffs. And when one of those 3 guys gets injured and misses games, then it becomes a struggle for the team to be competitive.
*>Kings hire an analytics team to determine who to draft* Analytics Team: "Draft Payton, don't draft Stauskas." Kings: "Alright, sounds good." *>Kings draft Stauskas*
@Todd Lerfahndler Yes to an extent but a good player development can really improve your skills and reduce injuries. Like for example, Derrick Rose never had proper development on his landing techniques which resulted in him being injury prone
@Fries being a kings fan 😔 these fuckers really picked Davion Mitchell at 9th when we have 2 Franchise Level guards 2 Fox and Tyrese. I love Davion but bro he’s a fucking guard and he ain’t even a lengthy long guard like 6-6 so we can’t even move him to the 3 to play with our other 2 guards, and they took a fucking center when we signed C Alex Len, C Damien Jones, C Tristan Thompson, C, C Maurice Harkless and resigned our starting Center Richland Holmes why tf do we have 5 centers and draft a rookie center just to not develop him 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ I stg our organization is fucking doomed they could’ve drafted Brandon Boston or some kinda wing.
4 rookies averaged 20/5/5. LeBron, Oscar, Jordan and Tyreke Tyreke had one of the greatest rookie seasons ever, the Kings stunted his growth by moving him from the PG position which was the beginning of the end for him.
@@Knowledgebaby1 you had Doncic on the board and every draft hand Doncic #2 but you chose Bagley because Divac thought Doncic dad was not a good coach. That's a big time L. you almost sound like a Hawk fan trying to justify how both teams won the Luka- Trae trade
De'Aaron Fox, DeMarcus Cousins, Isaiah Thomas, & Tyreke Evans were great picks. Tyreke didn't peak during his rookie year. That team is just a mess. He also played well for the most part on the Pelicans. Numbers aren't everything. He's a pretty dynamic player. McLemore & Thomas Robinson were drafted when they were widely projected, in fact I believe McLemore was projected to be off the board before the Kings even picked. You can't just say these are poor draft picks with the benefit of hindsight.
Looks like the kings said screw the scouting efforts and wanted to pick up big name players from big schools later in the years lol. The trend has obviously moved towards hidden international gems.
James Robert um... okay... we’re just not gonna mention the fact that the hawks record is ass and the mavs are fighting for western conference playoff spot. Don’t get me wrong, Trae is balling but he’s on a sorry ass team, which could be why he’s not getting any recognition rly.
@@superblaze1 really if we weren't so god awful at drafting we'd probably have much more success as a whole. Main issue has been a complete inability at drafting and/or developing talent when we do draft well.
This is why I’m subscribed to you....filled you video with information and facts that’s it’s worth watching for 15+ minutes....please when ever you get larger don’t start making videos just to hit the 10 minute mark and to make some revenue...keep the work up
Tyreke was forced to play small forward, not his natural position. I didnt think it was entirely his fault for failing in the league, other than the drugs
That's who I was expecting to get a mention, but by comparison, they've made the playoffs twice this decade. Plus Detroit drafts for need, they have a system in place, it's terrible, but it's a system. Sacramento might just be throwing darts, blindfolded.
nah they both limited. The thing with Willie is that scouts got a boner thinking of a super athletic center like him who was long and won't be a liability on defensive switches. Except Willie didn't have the commitment and the BBIQ to be that kind of player so he doesn't get big minutes as he's a liability overall on the court. Look for guys like JJJ or Jonathan Isaac to be that super long dude who can be smart and defend multiple sequences and even protect the rim.
@@Supcuzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz exaggerating skal can shoot its just injury bug with him dude put up 8-9 pp as a back up plying 18 mins a game and was very raw and hes only 23
Jimmer was scoring 30 plus in college (reminded me of Curry in college) and Frank Mason was a stud at Kansas as well as Hield at Oklahoma. And Bagley did ridiculous things at Duke that year (I think he's in a few record books at Duke) but you never know. Some kids wanna play and go all out and some get the money and lose their love for the game. PLUS they are always told "ITS A BUSINESS" AND THATS WHY I LOVE COLLEGE BALL!
My man Ibe was a part of that analytics team. At the time all I could remember was why the hell they would help the Kings draft Stauskas. This makes a lot more sense lol
When Geoff Petrie was still there, they were one of the best drafting teams in the league. The problem all these years has been lack of good leadership & organizational dysfunction.
2009 Pick: Evans/4 Best pick after Kings: Curry/7 News/Rumors: Curry had 2 interviews in Sac Overall result: Peaked rookie year 2010 Cousins/5 Paul George/10 Greg Monroe was being considered ahead of Cousins Developed into great player but never resulted in many wins 2011 Biyombo/7 (traded for Fredette/10) Kawhi/15, Klay/11 Can't remember Should've been obvious Jimmer wouldn't be Jimmer in the league 2012 Thomas Robinson/5 Lillard/6 Idiot Maloofs were "ecstatic" that Robinson was available Another obvious one - probable the worst "tweener" ever 2013 McLemore/7 Giannis/15 - One of the better cases for bad player development 2014 Stauskas/8 Jokic/41 - This was Jimmer 2.0 - minus the fanfare 2015 Willie/6 Booker/13 - Not horrible, but nowhere near great 2016 Chrisse/8 (Traded for Papagiannis/13 and Malachi Richardson/22) Siakim/27 Top 7 was rated much higher than 8 and lower. Big fat fail Vlade. PapaG was an out of nowhere pick that sucked and never stopeed sucking. 2017 Fox/5, Zach Collin/10 (traded for J Jackson/15 and H Giles/20) Mitchell/13 Kentucky starting backcourt I was hoping for Mitchell. Now I hope Giles develops 2018 Bagley/2 Doncic/3 Many Kings fans bought into the Luka hype. Unfortunately, Vlade didn't
Top 3 drafting teams Warriors (litterally won 3 championships by drafting) Raptors (won a championship without any lottery picks) Spurs ( drafts a lot of steals, and knows how to develop players
I think you are underestimating the difficulty of drafting sure in hind sight every team should have choosen a player like kawhii but it is very difficult to predict that he would become an offensive superstar when he showed very little on that end, I will agree though they are incompetent by ignoring the stats guys and their actual needs
But when you miss on that many picks it’s difficult to defend that. Especially if they didn’t pick based on need or who was the best player available. Everyone and their grandmother knew that doncic should have been the kings pick
Jesse Lende No the best prospects in the draft were between Ayton and Doncic. I vividly remember that. It was assumed the kings would take doncic. Especially because of vlade
@@kohsmoger1567 nah bagley was supposed to be number 1 overall all season ppl though this lol . luka was gonna be lottery too. bagley isnt even bad dude was putting up #'s he just cant stay healthy
im sac kings fan and oakland raiders fan,, and except the derrick carr leg break season, we are going on 33 seasons consecutively with no playoffs :( :( its been real tough with these kings picks and the likes of jamarcus russel etc...
I don’t know why the entire country is giving the the kings such a bad time for not drafting Luka. Here in Dallas were as happy as you could be. So stop it. The kings did great!!!
It was funny cuz I heard the other player the Kings wanted to select in 2012 was Damian Lillard but they ultimately went with Robinson. I also heard if Sacramento selected Lillard, Portland was going to draft either Harrison Barnes or Andre Drummond.
The problem with Tyreke Evans was 1) injuries 2) he only got to play PG his Rookie season. Which is why he was successful. He was an early example or a larger PG who needed the ball to succeed and instead of playing to his strengths they tried to play him at SF/SG off the ball.
I'd argue that the NBA draft will always be an unpredictable mixed bag and hindsight is 20/20. Scouting and pre draft workouts can give you some idea who to pick but it will always be factors like the system in place, minutes available, injuries, and player development program that will very much dictate a rookie's success in the league. I believe the 1st and last factor are the King's true problems when it comes to rookies. Their draft selection is just the tip of the iceberg.
TheShyRage - yep on Ayton.. he has done crap yet.. but booker was a better pick than any of them.. but 1 pick doesn’t make you a good drafting team.. Kings picked: IT, Fox, Boogie, Whiteside, Terrance and etc.. so naw Kings are alright
I think the Phoenix Suns would like to have a talk with you!! honorable mention is the 76ers for how many top 10 hell top 5 picks they have that have either busted out completely or at the very least busted for them... The Lakers have a good collection of top 10 trash they have acquired as well!
Naming the players that have done well after sounds fun but do you honestly think Klay Thompson would be who he is today if he was drafted by the Kings? They don't develop players well anymore and give up on them to fast. You should have mentioned how bad that Nik Stauskus trade to the sixers was as well. Cool video though man =)
Yeah but still the nba draft is all about predicting what these players will be years down the line and some of the people they drafted weren’t even good in college
THE ACTUAL LEGEND Ya but some of the guys they drafted WERE good or Atleast decent in college. Jimmer averaged like 30 in college while people were saying Steph would be too small to play in the league, guess which one is the bonafided HOF lol
It’s very easy to look back at a draft and say they should have selected someone else. That’s my issue with this video, you were saying they could’ve drafted Donovan Mitchell, but at that time many teams may not have had Mitchell that high. Enjoyed the style of video though.
