So a thing happened at the Oscars and before we start picking sides, I don't really care. To me the whole situation is simply just unfortunate. Here are my thoughts on the Will and Chris Rock situation.

Anyone supporting Will’s sophomoric actions, really needs to evaluate their upbringing. Rock is a comedian, a comedian that tells jokes. If Will had an issue, he should have addressed it privately. That slap was not jiggy, at all.

Not jiggy 😄 well said.

Supposedly Will told him in 2016 & 2018 to stop talking about his family

Being a comedian doesn't mean you get to control whether or not someone gets offended. Telling jokes doesn't mean you're exempt from consequences. Any comedian should know this going in especially if you make fun of someone's family. I don't wish harm on Rock but I don't feel bad for him at all. Being provocative won't always get you the results you desire.

@@MistyDusker Rock told a joke that was innocuous. Professional comedians understand people will get offended by their jokes. That did not give Will any right to act like a criminal on national TV. If that slap had connected in the right spot, Will would be looking at manslaughter charges today. Sadly, Will has to live with his choice for life

I agree, however I do beleive if your a comedian the jokes you tell won't anger certain people. Nonetheless, the way Will reacted was really dissapointing, especially not knowing if Rock knew the entire situation or not. 🙏🏾

I'm glad you pointed out that G.I. Jane was a boss. Because it wasn't a real insult. But no, Will wasn't protecting his wife; he was protecting his own ego. The violence was real but his anger was fake. He was just laughing until he saw his wife's response. He hit Chris Rock to beg for validation from his wife... over-correcting the fact that he was laughing.

Yeah I guess it can be offensive depending on the context simply because they're both bald, but other than that GI Jane was a badass woman so idk. I just felt like it was really tame even if you do consider it a joke. I also agree that Will was definitely trying to show his wife he was "on her side", which I have no problem with, except for how he did it. Also, I think he's been through a lot these last couple of years and honestly just lost sight of who he was for a second. Not trying to make excuses for him, but he looked like a man that really didn't want to do what he did.

@@itakeonmovies Big question: If there was a G.I. Jane II starring Jada Pinkett-Smith, would you watch it?

@@johnnysilvercloud4470 lol man I don't know only becasue I find Jada semi annoying. But I'd probably still watch it if they were making a serious sequel. You?

i think he made a point to demonstrate how seriously we take protecting Black womn. a very good point.

Definitely can see how he felt like he needed to protect her in that moment.

That’s interesting. Because most black men don’t seem to be protecting their black women at all. They continuously put them in vulnerable positions all the time. It’s kind of a community epidemic, in case you’re not paying attention.
@diggs1989
@diggs1989 2 года назад
@@floydjr1478 there are certain things that you don’t make fun of. A black woman losing her hair is one of them. Chris knew better, especially after making a documentary on the importance of hair in the black community. you say she didn’t need protection although the expression on her face deemed otherwise. Will clearly defended his wife.

they could have settle it behind the curtains, or just walk up to Chris and call him to apologize, there is certainly many actions he could take, unfortunately he took the worse possible, instead of Chris alone cracking a joke on Jada, now the whole world is cracking a joke on her

Good take on this man. I can’t feel anyways about this just because we don’t know what happened behind the cameras. I do remember Chris rock going at jada about the Oscars back in 2016 so I’m sure there was the friction
@itakeonmovies

Thanks man! And exactly, it looks like some new info has came out stating that, Rock didn't know of her condition and that he didn't even write the joke. Either way the entire situation was unfortunate. I feel bad for Will, my guy looked mad conflicted and stressed

I was planning of implementing open marriage. I think I can't handle the stress either.

Yeah I think there is a peace and confidence both have to be at within before implementing something like that. I think if you have a healthy foundation it could be successful. I know I'm not capable personally.

I was offering a take very similar to yours earlier today - it’s easy and somewhat understandable to react physically when your blood gets boiling about some slight against you or a loved one, but that’s what is respected about those who choose to take a different path - that’s it’s harder to do so in the moment and requires a lot of forbearance. If Will had taken that stage and had a direct conversation with Chris ( like you said, maybe Chris didn’t know Jada has alopecia and was just making what he thought was a light hairstyle joke) you might have seen Chris offer some peace, make an apology, everyone moves on. Plus that shows Will and Jada’s kids what I hope most of us were taught by our parents, how you can handle some disputes with words and reason, not violence. And like you said, Will’s gotta live with it now. If he’s the guy I think he might be, he probably regrets it at least somewhat and might reach out to where he and Chris can each make their own apologies to each other.
@itakeonmovies
@itakeonmovies 2 года назад
Yeah reactions that strong are always emotional and those are the scary ones because you're not thinking clearly. However to your point I am 100 percent confident that if will would have explained the situation, Rock would have completely apologized and they both could have went on about their nights without them being ruined. It's all just unfortunate. But will has since apologized and I'm sure Rock will forgive him. ✊🏾
