Wise words, Nathan. Something else I heard years ago and it's guided me a bit; People forget what you say, and they'll even forget what you do. But they never forget how you made them feel.

Wise words as ever Nathan. Thinking back over my European travels it's not the buildings and cities I remember. I remember the owner of a B&B in Troyes telling me about her side-line in pottery and her child just starting school (a small vase I bought and gave to my mother only to claim it back years later after she died, is on my desk now) I remember a heavenly evening ride around the coast of Lake Ohrid and a flock of birds flying along side me and I remember a woman in Burgas asking if her son could sit on my bike and his eyes lighting up when I gestures 'yes' even though we couldn't understand a word the other said. All unplanned little gems amongst many many others, few of which were related to the bike i was on. I'm sure if I was on 125 scooter the sense of wonder would've been no less and probably more. Now there's a thought for a video for me, South of France on a pizza delivery bike :) Safe travels!

On your last comment on what does it matter about how you travel. I live in the Highlands and I see people arriving here by all sorts of transport from clapped out old bangers stuffed to the gunnels with tents etc, supercars, truck campers that look like they are off to do the Paris-Dakar, all sorts. There are a couple of instances that stick in my memory. The first is the three French teenagers that I saw once in Ullapool who were riding mopeds, and by mopeds I mean the ones you had to pedal to start, had they ridden all the way from France, were they even legal to be riding in this country? but they were there and had achieved far more than I had at their age. The second was a young guy on a Dutch bike just pedalling along the road at Clachtoll, in shorts, T-shirt and best of all flip-flops! with just a few bags strapped to his bike. Now Dutch bikes are single speed with a laid back riding position which is ideal for the flat suburbs of Holland, Assynt is anything but flat, but he was just riding along with a big grin on his face without a care in the world.

Saw this on the back of a womans t-shirt in Italy "Il mondo è una biblioteca. Chi non ha viaggiato ha letto solo una pagina" The English translation is "The World is a library. Those who have not travelled have only read one page".

If your going to Beatty get yourselves in the Happy Burro Bar, probably one of the smallest bars in the US but probably one of the best!! Say Hello to Kitty and Karl at the bar from Big Andy , i was there last year on moto Guzzis out of Vegas. Lovely people in Beatty 😉

Superb video Nathan as always insightful I always think we all view the world through different lenses and different experiences, I’ve known lotta people in the industry that I used to be in that had what some would class as the dream yet were they really rich that’s the question I know in my life my entire outlooks changed 5 years ago when we lost our family company, n especially now with dads stage 3+ prostate cancer certainly makes you focus on what matters the experiences an the memories an shared experiences through the people you meet, It’s funny really some of the best adventures I’ve had were on an old German import rd250lc that I used to do 2k miles a week in was rough round the edges but mechanically spot on, met so many people through that coming up an talking an sharing memories, an same for the old Nortons it’s those memories that are always worth treasuring I think :) an that’s why I wanna travel when I’m able at the mo caring for dad is the top priority, awesome videos so far Nathan n thanks for sharing

Nathan the life guru …. Like your views on life very grounded. Ride safe and keep the observations coming. Btw rode the 452, not something that lives up to the hype …. I bet yours is quivering away at Cooperb as I type knowing what a life it’s going to have at Dorothy’s !!

Well put, I think that spending some time in Vegas leaves you questioning the authenticity of everything you see after a few days. That's when you know it's time to move on, the glamour fades fast once you see it all as a money making machine. Good for a short visit though, for the spectacle.

I agree 100% with your reasons why we travel. Me? The reasons I prefer to not travel with others, particularly groups. It tends to prevent real, meaningful contact with 'locals' when riding with others. It also puts off others from approaching you as they see you are already in company and conversation. I have had amazing contract experiences on the road when alone. Seldom when riding even with just one other. 👍

Totally agree Dave. It's why I encourage people to break down into small groups and even ride solo, which pretty much all on this trip did at one time or another. For me it means they get the freedom and interaction when travelling, plus the camaraderie on an evening or when paths crossing during the day. Kind of a happy medium. But yes obviously, solo travel is going to be what gives some people their kicks

I guess it’s each to their own. Some like to see new places, experience things they’ve never seen or likely to see again, and get a feel for a place. Might be to decide whether somewhere is worth going back to. Probably the difference between travelling on a bike and holidaying on a bike. BTW really enjoying watching an Aussie chap called Joe Ryan and his many travels and adventures round Australia and most recently, New Zealand.

I find there's no point in having things unless you share them. I remember meeting a young guy who rode a tiny Honda all the way from Australia.... I even bought his book. As you say, it's the people you meet on the way that matter Ride safe Nathan (the other arf doesn't like me talking to strangers)

Welcome to our world of illusion, Nathan😂. We have individuals from all over the world who visit. The real Vegas is out on the road on a motorcycle living, breathing, and experiencing God's great outdoors. Be cognizant of phony facades. I rode the Red Rock canyon overlook this morning and most every day, and it is a fabulous ride. Stay safe, and I can pray for your safe travels 🙏. We dig your footage from rides and reviews. Watch out for all that fast food like "Smoky from Belgium."

Funny exactly Today last year we married at the little white chapel. After that take the route through the desert to san Diego. From there up north to San Francisco. San Francisco was a big disappointment. That City is socially dying.

Travel broadens the mind. I think some travel (especially early in life, but it's never too late) is an excellent innoculation against a lack of empathy.

Politicians realized homelessness is incredibly profitable. When they clam “a war on” anything, hold on to your wallet, because they will be profiting from it. It’s a disgrace we have homeless in this country. Fact: California spent $24 BILLION to fight homelessness…with nothing to show for it…but wait for it…more homelessness.
