Can all TED talks be like this? Sweet, concise, and actually innovative.

I used to attend a high school in a very low- income area and of course; we couldn't afford the interactive smart boards which basically every other school had at least a few of. My math teacher who was so passionate about education and technology adopted this system of a budget interactive whiteboard to make her teaching more visual and enhancing and seeing this video, I feel so grateful for some reason. Great work Johnny! Your work really did enable less advantaged people to maintain the technological advancements that everyone else was achieving.

Why the need for the headset display then? I mean this demo uses head tracking software and an IR camera with a pair of LEDs attached to some safety glasses to create a 3 dimensional effect on a 2d TV screen, why then, are developers opting to mount stereoscopic displays in chunky visors? Surely this eliminates the need for VR... more to the point we've had a generational leap in home consoles with another one due soon since this video and no-one's developed a game around this very simple set up.

Johnny Lee deserved the standing ovation... It's not just about his current experiments, but on how many people it can affect, and how accessible he made it for the general public. Great stuff! Happy to see some game development companies are already considering doing something with the idea!

If you shutter the left and right lenses of those glasses to match a rapidly alternating image on the screen, you can have true depth perception AND head tracking. And if you have pupil tracking cameras mounted on the glasses, you can even have eye tracking data that would feed into the computer giving high fidelity field of depth changing in real time with the natural focusing movements of the eyes.
