I am a quilter, and a Prepper. Ive sewed and quilted reverse needle turn for years, nice hobby. In my studies of pioneers days, I learned that in the early 1800's when hubby return home from a hunting trip, on his shopping list for his wifeee, was a order of needles and thread... Makes sense to me.
i love sewing leather bags for my silver and collectible coins. Fun, relaxing thing to do when your in the wilderness. I just keep a needle and thread in my wallet, and a razor too... =)
I have a bottle of hot sauce with me at all times. It may sound weird, but I've found that all over the world, people who do serious woods time love hot sauce. The Soy Sauce came on board for wilderness travel after I spent some time with the R.A.T. team. Salt depletion combined with huge amounts of physical labor can lead to pretty severe problems, not the least of which is horrible muscle cramps at night. Soy sauce makes it all better. It also doesn't clump like salt.
Yeah. I'm putting together a 'repair kit' now that includes safety pins and a bunch of other stuff but fits in a chew can. When its done I'll post a video. I usually have a few safety pins applied to various parts of my gear. In the hat is one place to stick a couple. They always seem to come in handy.
Don't know if they still have it but county comm was selling Kevlar thread cheap at one time. Would be a good addition to your kit. Also get a roll of artificial sinew and some heavy nylon thread from a leather supply store. Those will give you heavy duty repair options in the bush in addition to normal thread.
It seems to make people more satisfied after eating less food. It also makes really monotonous food supplies (rice every day, oatmeal every day etc.) easier to stomach. It c an also make pretty bad foods more palatable.
Next trip though I'm really needing to trim weight so rather than carry the liquid in soy sauce and in hot sauce I'm just going to bring the dry ingredients.
There are bits and pieces of it on my channel. The Cook Up Rice in Guyana is one. Bomba Bushcraft is another. I'm only allowed to release little bits of stuff because I'm under contract for the rest of it. Google Amazon 5000 Expedition. I was part of that.
