This is just my brief review of my Radar 135 and some of the upgrades I have done to it. Its my 4th fishing Kayak and the stability is great but the pedal drive makes it.
Any questions please feel free to post and I will respond ASAP. Most items bought for this I got from Amazon other then the Pedal Drive which came from Austin Kayak. This is currently For Sale Approx $ 2500

Thanks for the video. I really like your trailer!

As mentioned by others remove the last pad eye closest to the rudder. It helps quite a bit. If you partially disassemble the rudder and spray lithium grease in the pivot points, the difference is incredible. Mine now requires very little effort to raise & lower.

Pro Tip: For your rudder take the cable out of the last eye that holds it down (the one closest to the rudder) and it will be much easier to pull up. The one at 8:52 in the video. The cable will be in a straight line making it easier to pull the cable up

Sorry it took so long to get back to you....Are you saying just remove the last padeye before the rudder? I would have to shorten cables to correct?

G’day mate, is your trailer just a box trailer that you’ve taken the sides off and customised?

Why did you mount the wheels so far forward? Did you have the rod holders installed prior? I am about to buy one for mine and launch my channel, so that you for sharing.
@keithmoore408
@keithmoore408 4 года назад
I mounted the wheels where I did because it was the best spot in my opinion, and wanted it as far forward as I could because with all the gear this weighs close to 200# and with 1 shoulder , 2 back surgeries I was trying to do myself a favor

Hey Keith, what month do you start getting out on the black river for some channel cats. I want to try catching them for the first time. Also, what pound test line would you recommend? On fishbrain I have seen people catch decent ones, then some absolute monsters and I want to make sure in equipped right. Also, what do you run? Cut bait? Thanks.

Anytime Dom. Problem right now is after the winters high water there is about 3" of silt/mud getting to the ramp to launch...a real mess. The township usually cleans it up by may. I just dont want all that in my boat then my car. May run down there today to take a look at it

40# braid Carolina rig, 12"-18" 20# mono leader, 1/2 oz egg slip sinker,, large #7 Gamakatsu circle hook i think. To me...bigger hook+bigger bait=bigger cats. I use Tyson chicken liver. By the frozen turkeys at meijer. If u have access to fresh cut bait that may be better. My email snoshoe62@yahoo.com

@@keithmoore408 awesome, yeah I found you on fishbrain and saw you were catching a ton of cats over there! I heard there are absolute monsters down the black river.

Question, minus the pedal drive, which kayak do you like better, the sea ghost or radar?
@keithmoore408
@keithmoore408 4 года назад
Without Pedal Drive Id say the Vibe, seems like much more storage within reach and $600 cheaper, little easier mounting the Lowrance. But I cant discount the pedal drive, its an awesome feature...much further without fatigue

Hey keith, where abouts on the black river do you reccomend fishing? I'm not sure where they have launches at. I'm trying to fish for some crappie or walleye (not sure if they have them there).
@keithmoore408
@keithmoore408 4 года назад
Until they open the canal from the lake, seasonal, you'd unlikely ever catch those, even when it's open it would be pure luck. BR is best for carp, catfish, LM Bass, SM Bass, silver bass, pike and sometimes a stray salmon or steelhead. You want walleye ur gonna have to venture into St Clair river
@DomBogey94

How is the stability? I’d like to be able to stand and fish a majority of the time I’m out fishing
@keithmoore408
@keithmoore408 4 года назад
Well I think stability would be different if your 5'7" , 175 lbs vs 6'2", 235 lbs. That being said, I am 5'10", 240 lbs and I can easily stand in it. Ive had 2 other high end fishing kayaks and this is the most stable. It can be tippy sometimes, id probably not do it in 40 degree water. Hope that helped.

Did you end up selling the kayak? I have the atak 120, but thinking about selling it and buying the radar 135.

No i decided to keep it. Why don't you like the ATAK. Where are you, I may be interested
@alejandrolariosmora9339
@alejandrolariosmora9339 4 года назад
@@keithmoore408 I like the Atak 120, but when you paddled 5 or 10 miles away from your car and you need to get back, and the wind is not on your side, it can be very exhausting to paddle back to the boat ramp after a long day of fishing. Things I don't like about the Atak 120: the amount of money you need to spend to accessorize your kayak after $17000 just on the kayak itself (I have everything you can image on my kayak), the leaks and rudder you mentioned. I have a nitro bass boat, but sometime I like being in kayak. In retrospect, I feel I should have gone with the cheaper option and purchase the radar 135. The cheapest I found them online was $1247. I live in beautiful Wisconsin. Where do you live?

I find a big pain with the rudder lift/ lower...why wilderness guys made it so hard to use it? Needs too much of force..., any hacks to suggest for easing life with it?

I totally agree with you, maybe my next project to fix that
@m14hh5
@m14hh5 4 года назад
Take the cable out of the eye closest to the rudder. The cable will be in a straight line instead of having a sharp turn. Refer to 8:52 in the video and look near the bottom left corner of the screen if your not sure what I mean. Just loosen the screw a bit an remove the cable.
@Psevdokranos
@Psevdokranos 4 года назад
@@m14hh5 did that and now it's smoother, but have another thing that puzzles me. That's the rudder, it keeps on losing the trim. I trim it and before I enter the sea it's fine, it obeys the handle's move (for/ back) but...when i enter the water I have a problem keeping it trimmed with the handle at its full back position. The rudder does not turn right in maximum. Any ideas how to fix that?
@m14hh5
@m14hh5 4 года назад
@@Psevdokranos Not sure if I know what you mean. Cable might have stretched a bit. I think it will do that a bit over time. It did for me anyway. I just had to adjust if a few times during the first few months of owning it. How long did you have it?
@Psevdokranos
@Psevdokranos 4 года назад
@@m14hh5 just 2 weeks...and have been in the water 5-6 times only, had to trim/ recalibrate the rudder 3 times before entering the sea. And i really don't know what's the issue. I have not made the initial setup, but the local distributor.
