Will I EVER Get Promoted to B Group?! Drifting with Club Loose at Englishtown in New Jersey.

Since first drifting with Clubloose my goal has been getting promoted to B group so I can drift the whole track at E-Town. As of this video I'm 4 events in and still waiting for the bump, so will it finally happen? Well, I guess you'll need to watch and see...
I explain this a bit in the video, but C group drivers with Club loose are only allowed to do one section of the track at a time, which is either "front track" or "back track". Then they only do driver promotions from back track, so if you're focused on getting promoted you basically wind up driving back track a million times (when I actually prefer front). The drones can also only run front track because of a cell tower, and primarily focus on B group, so it's been a blocker to getting footage for the channel as well.

My Story *********************
In 2022 after learning to drift on Assetto Corsa, I purchased a 2007 Nissan 350z to start attending my first drift events, and I've learned quite a bit along the way. The community has been great and I'd very much like to pay it forward and help anyone looking else looking to get into drifting for the first time. Any burning questions as someone wanting to learn how to drift? Send them my way and I'll either respond or cover in a future video.

I found this channel a couple of weeks ago when I was thinking of buying a T300RSGT and watched your vids about them from a few years back, having bought one now seeing you get bumped up to B class is so inspiring and makes me excited to see where my sim journey takes me. Congratulations dude!

Congrats on the promotion! We had something called Group A back in the day in Hawaii early 2000s. I always thought I couldn't make it because A group had all the SR20s so I drove without that pressure of making it or not.. Anyway I made it and was the only Ka24 (stock too) to make it.

Congrats on the bump up to B group dude! Your videos gave me a little inspiration to try actual drifting myself. I had an S13 240sx back in the day, but I sold it like an idiot, lol I've been on my sim for just over a year, hoping to get a 350z and get on track soon.

@JankyDrift
@JankyDrift 11 месяцев назад
Differs by event, but with club loose B primarily means you can drift the whole track without the training wheels and drive alongside more polished drivers. Plus the whole acknowledgment of your driving skills which is nice. A lot of other places, B group means you can start running tandems. I'm already B with Readysetdrift for example which is how i was running with that red BMW a month or so back. Generally harder to achieve with Clubloose, thus the celebration lol.

...Also, how much left foot braking do you do irl compared to on sim? I feel like I use left foot braking pretty much constantly, today I was in a Tsukuba fruits line lobby and the left foot brake was being pressed some way down for, I'd say, about 40% of the time, using it for almost everything: for slowing down a high speed, 3rd gear transition so I don't oversteer and start fishtailing too much, for tucking in the back on long drifts, for reverse entries in tight corners...so it's almost always in use. I can feel it in my left foot as I type this, it's a little bit sore because of the pressure of the load cell brake, whereas my right foot feels fine. So I was watching your footwork and there's not so much left foot braking going on. Is that me misreading things or is that really the case irl?
@JankyDrift
@JankyDrift 11 месяцев назад
My footwork is similar on the sim side as well, I dont really left foot brake outside of tandem. I've always been under the understanding that left foot braking is primarily a tandem technique when you need to slow the car down and push more angle while following. If I remember correctly, formula drift actually frowns upon left foot braking on lead runs. That said, everybody has a different style. Try doing a few runs where you focus on throttle modulation over left foot braking. Worth expanding your skillset at the very least.
@thesprawl2361
@thesprawl2361 11 месяцев назад
@@JankyDrift That's interesting. I assumed it was just due to not wanting to wear out the brakes or something. I think in FD left ft braking is frowned upon partle cos it slows you down and gives the chaser leeway but also I think they frown upon anything but pure weight transfer for initiating drifts. I remember an IRL pro critiquing a sim drifter's initiations because he used handbrake. I've done some competition drifting in lobbies with VDC cars, on a UKVDC course that's pretty gnarly. And I had to use left foot braking there to tighten the angle as some curves change shape completely halfway through, and unless you know the track like the back of your hand and pick the right line there's really no other way to force oversteer and tighten the angle. I'll have a think about this and maybe practise without it for a bit. It never occurred to me that left foot braking might be a bad thing. It's always felt to me like an extra skillset, like having two arms instead of one.
@fa5ajm

The track workers definitely dont make you stop there every time lmao. Half the time they just sit in their car and nod 🤣
@JankyDrift
@JankyDrift 8 месяцев назад
Sure felt like it at the time lol. But I mean I've got a ton of footage with me quietly doing runs, just not nearly as interesting to watch.

Hey I was wondering if you have pin 101 cut on your Z. Im about to go to my first event. I'm not not sure if it's actually necessary to left foot brake a 350z with the power it has. Let me know what you think if you see this. Thanks!
@JankyDrift
@JankyDrift 9 месяцев назад
Mine is an HR so the pin trick isn't the same as the earlier years, but I do have my car tuned via uprev though which allows you to do a left foot brake burnout and all that. That said, I have yet to left foot brake this car outside of a tandem.

Yeah I defintiely started getting more aggressive with throttle. Comes with experience I guess after driving that part of the course about 100 times lol.
@nickduplaga507
@nickduplaga507 11 месяцев назад
@@JankyDrift If you want to drift faster it’s important to feather the throttle to where the car accelerates in the drift the most (usually this isn’t full throttle, but it depends on gearing), and then angle with steering.
@nickduplaga507
@nickduplaga507 11 месяцев назад
@@JankyDriftAt 8:37 the way your tachometer rises slowly as the car is accelerating is good because that’s where the tires had grip in the drift. Your car hopped before that maybe less fast bump damper or softer springs could help. If you lessen the slow bump dampers it would grip your car up on transitions faster but it doesn’t seem needed. Spring rate changes camber grip in the drift.
