Brilliant yet again Lee, I have followed your journey, and been subscribed from day 1. I’ve been struggling lately due to needing a hip replacement which I had done a week ago. With this is mind I’ve rebuilt my bag , T Rails, and on your recommendation, Wilson LP driver and Fybrid.
I have the Launch pad Fybrid which is a hybrid and fairway combined. Its one the best clubs in my bag and I am not taking it out any time soon. So pleased you are giving Wilson some deserved airtime.
Just bought the 4 hybrid after watching your review Lee! Absolute game changer, carry distance averaging out around 175 yards, maxing out at 199 carry. I play off 18 and have 90 mph ish swing speed! No tweaking , just aimed straight and trusted the club, the results for me were spectacular. Straight ball flight, nice height and the carry distances I was looking for. Perfect club for me, just what I was looking for so thanks for review. Going to buy the 5 wood now!!! Almost looking at ditching the driver which is erratic at best and playing fairway golf with these beauties
Bought the 5 wood yesterday after watching this again. Down to £109 now and AG have the whole selection in stock! Perfect for the 18 handicap 50 something golfer! Great review Lee
Don't take this the wrong way Lee but you have imperfections in your swing that helps relate to a lot of club golfers. That's why I enjoy watching your videos you don't shy away from the truth (your 9 hole video was excellent you said it as it was). Also brutal honesty of saying about your club reviews particularly the Ping G430 range. I been out and bought 2 G425 fairway woods just based on honest opinion
Just added this to my bag. So now have Launchpad Driver 3 wood and Fybrid . Then Wilson D9 456 hybrid and 8-gw irons. Callaway Mack daddy CB 52 and 56 and a Wilson Infinite Bucktown putter. Really happy with my set up
I have 5 wood and 4 hybrid. The 5 wood goes like a rocket. Highly recommended, just change the grip that suits you. Mine is GolfPride cpx. By the way Lee - to my beginner eye you are not rotating your hips enough backwards on the downswing. It looks to me that hitting too much with your hands. Sorry for this analysis but that was my problem. And your style reminds mine former swing. Thanks for the great videos.
Most golfers would benefit from keeping the ball in play rather than hitting it far, but into the woods. As I've grown older (60) I can't hit it 280 anymore, but I hit a lot more fairways and score better, even though my short game still sucks. I also save money on golf balls. I have played my last 5 rounds without losing a single golf ball and I'm still the longest hitter in my group. My drives go about 225-240, but I keep them on the golf course. I have a Taylor Made Jet Speed driver which is about 10 years old. I have a mixed bag of clubs that I mostly bought used because clubmakers have priced new clubs out of my range. I probably have 5 or 6 different brands in my bag. TM driver, Cleveland 7 wood, Callaway 3 wood, Ping 5 wood, Mizuno irons and even a Warrior 9 wood which I purchased new from an online source for $15 still plastic wrapped & came with a head cover. It feels great, is super easy to hit and fills a distance gap in my bag. Everything except the 9 wood is at least 8-10 years old. Love them all except I'm ready to ditch the MIzuno irons for something a little more forgiving. Probably look for some used Pings.
How many mid/high handicappers would even expect to hit "bombs" The challenge, especially, as you get older is to get even respectable distance. I would also suggest that 100mph swing speed with a fairway wood for a mid/high handicap golfer could be considered quite fast. I struggle sometimes to hit 90mp with my fairway wood (a 5 wood delofted to 16.5 degrees.
