What is more important than any of us liking the colour of your windows, is if you and Ilia like it. That's what is essential. Lots of work but very rewarding. 😁

It is not hard to understand. The farmhouse is a huge project to make it a home for the whole family. I understand the stages, leaving the place you were living, making a temporary home in the mobile home while fitting out a building that can be lived in year round while the final stage can commence. Being able to have your family live safely and comfortably on the property while the big house is made habitable is a logical move. Sometimes things have to come in stages. In the mean time, the whole property is coming alive. Everything from the bees and butterflies, the cats, the children, and even your neighbors the cows are benefitting from all you have done. I almost forgot the koi looking happy and healthy. It's not just the house you have taken on but the land too.

I laughed out loud when Ilya said, “No shortcuts! It’s technology.” And I love the color. My summer project has been staining my house siding the same dark blue. Beautiful as always, and I can’t wait to see them installed.

Well folks ... We appreciate you taking the time to speak to us about the renovation.... Please note that this renovation is quite big overall, and just the two of you are working on it. quite a lot of work to be done .So please note that we are not rushing you in any way.... this is your home and we realize that a lot of work needs to be done to bring it up to your needs. So we wish you well in the rebuilding... stay safe..

That’s a gorgeous color! Don’t be afraid to use the colors you like. If you are happy, that’s all that matters. The rooms in my house are all different, and it makes me happy every day. If other people don’t like it, well, they don’t live here. Most of the comments we get are positive, though. And later if you get tired of a color … it’s just paint, and you can paint again! 👍🏼😁 Beautiful color, and beautiful work!

Love the dark blue windows. Tip for the future, have the paint company tint the primer a medium gray and this way your dark blue will cover better. I cut along my seams between the tape and the glass before removing the tape. (especially with acrylic based paints), I also use a single edge razor blade to clean the glass. 💙💛💙💛💙

I just love the color. It will be so pretty when they're all put in the walls. I also am over the moon about your wildflowers. You have made such a difference in the area. The fish, the meadow, the trees nd plants are all so very pretty. It must feel so good to be there to take care of everything. You will have the little house done in no time at all, then you can work on the big house. If your kids had to change schools, I hope they have an easy adjustment and a lovely new school year.

Great video's, I never miss an episode. Here's some painting tips and tricks. When putting on masking type just let 1 mm or so of the glass unmasked so the sealant gets protected too. The colour is beautifull but be aware that dark colours absorb a lot more heat from the sun and thus are less durable then light colours. When painting in dark clours it helps a lot to use a dark primer also so you will struggle less to get coverage. Good luck!
@familiewensink9705
@familiewensink9705 9 месяцев назад
Very true! Also buy a good brand masking tape. That will give you much more joy in painting and removing the tape!😀

Agree with previous responses. As an addition to the tip regarding the colour of the primer, mix a bit of the final colour through the primer, then the primer in the base as a colour similar to the final colour.
@matjacobs1966
@matjacobs1966 9 месяцев назад
@@ratanashifu With my tip, I also don't mean that the colour should be different, but if you mix a bit of the final colour (in this case dark blue) with the primer and then apply the undiluted final colour afterwards, the coverage will be better. Now, as was also told, you could see that after the primer and first final coat (dark blue) was applied that the white primer still came through in a few places. So if you had mixed the in primer a bit of the dark blue, it would have been less brightly visible and thus the coverage of the final paint would have been better right away.

A tip for removing painters tape: use a small sharp knife to slice the painted edges fist before pulling off the tape. That way the paint will not 'break' along the edges but you will end up with a bie straight edge.

Oh, I love the blue! 😍 It complements all the brick on the property, the green of the fields, the wildflowers, even the koi in the pond. I also prefer to tape off glass when painting, but I tape a tiny bit away from the frame and use a razor for cleaning up the edges. Scraping glass is very satisfying and leaves a clean finish but I don't want to make a huge job of it.

When your topcoat is dark use a grey color primer and for a light topcoat a white primer, so imperfections are less visible. As already mentioned by other viewers remove the tape directly after painting. Use a roller for every layer of paint. It s gives a more even layer. And if you want to upgrade your paintskills use a round brush. In the corners you have to spin around the brush slowly in the direction of the corner. Don’t turn away from the corner. At the tip you will notice a bit of excess paint will occur but that is what you want. Just try it. When you master it you can reduce the use of tape. Schildersbedrijf Edens has a youtube channel where you can find a lot of painting tips. The blue color looks great. Keep going.

When you are painting a dark color you should be able to get a dark primer to make the top coat cover better. Paths through the wildflower meadow would be wonderful. The easiest way is to mow them in when the flowers are still small. Then you can make the paths meander however you feel, wider or narrower tn places to make them more fun. I really admire all that you have achieved so far and your sequence of projects makes perfect sense.
@eriktaylor754

The blue is amazing! In the future, when you choose a deep saturated color like this blue, it will help if you use a "tinted primer" first. This will help you use fewer final coats of paint. Your paint supplyer will be able to "Tint" the primer to help prevent the "white" color from bleeding through your final color. I love your spirit and dedication to refurbishing this farm house!

Project management can be very difficult, you really depend on the employees to be knowledgeable and honest when estimating costs or time consumption, for example. And here you are dealing with so many unknown factors… family, children, school, your professional occupations, economy, and the fact that you probably have family and friends in war zones in Ukraine…Along with YT friends and expectations from Patrons… you are truly outstanding! be VERY careful of each other, that's the most important thing!
