She’s engaged to be married, owns her own home, is on her 4th brand new car, and she still keeps spending. The only thing she doesn’t have is the cash to pay for it all. At just 21, Sam’s future is bleak.

When my husband and I first moved in together 18 years ago, I found out very quickly that he was a brand snob- food, clothes, vehicles, everything had to be name brand. I was raised by my grandparents and we were always on a budget, so I learned early on how to bargain shop. Well out agreement was that I would buy the groceries for the home and pay the power bill while he paid rent and everything else (I didn’t make as much money as he did, and I was 19 years old). He started complaining about the store brand foods I was buying. I know not everything store brand tastes good, but for the most part there is no real difference. Well I decided to teach him a lesson after he complained about the bread I bought 2 weeks in a row. I bought the bread he wanted and let him eat that loaf. Then I kept the package and put a loaf of store brand bread into it (Walmart brand bread in a Sara Lee package) and let him eat it. I did this for 2 weeks in a row before I told him what he had been eating! When he realized he couldn’t actually tell there was much of a difference at all, he shut up about it and let me buy whatever groceries I wanted to buy 😂😂😂 I will admit I buy Sara Lee bread these days, but we aren’t as broke as we were back then either 😂

well sucks for studying in the uk, america or australia. I dont know whats up with these english speaking countries charging ridiculous amount of study fees....I live in germany and our study fee is like 600 per semester. I got my degree from the netherlands because i wanted to study international business and it still wasnt that expensive. 2k per year. Only the none europeans have to pay 800 per month just for the study fees :P Im making 44k euros a year and there is more room for growth in that billion dollar company i work for. No masters degree tho cause that is a waste of time.

Perhaps she could write down the price of every item she sees and wants and goes home without buying. Add up the money she’s “saved” by not buying and start to see that sum increase and get a kick out of saving. A thought.

Why is the principle of "don't spend what you don't have" so incredibly hard to understand? Even if this was before the 2008 crisis? All my leggings have holes in them. I can't buy new ones because It's that or groceries. So I fix them. Ofcourse making sure they still look good😉. And most of the time I don't mind because it is what it is. The utmost important thing for me is staying out of debt. In which ever way possible. And so far I've managed😊..... I think this child, cause that's what she is, has a lot to learn about life and how to deal with it.

"Short term sacrifice, long term gain" is one of the best legacies my father has given me. Her behaviors of avoidance and indulgence - in unhealthy food, clothing, make-up, wine, anything shiny - was not serving her well in the long run. Good on her for starting to address them now at a young age.

I have always enjoyed this show but on this occasion I find it astonishing that a 'financial whizz' would give this girl a £40 per month budget for clothes/shoes (which she certainly didn't need !) rather than allocate some money towards her debt. The mind boggles. 🤔. I don't see the need to be mean about her personal appearance. This is a very old show and it's about her finances, not her shape/size.
