The top play of this game however may have come from Italy's DP Chiara Bassi, who looked more like a track star than a softball player, as she leapfrogged Britain's 3B Chloe Wigington while running the bags to arrive safely (3:23).
Amanda Fama had two triples in the game, driving in one in the 3rd, but it was C Erika Piancastelli who drove in three on the day, two with a ball that was launched over the left field fence in the 5th (4:17). In the bottom of the 7th the Italians put up two more with a bit of small ball action that included a sacrifice.
Italian starter Illaria Cacciamani went the distance giving up just a single hit while striking out 8.
