One of the most important keys, and you touch on it, is to be smooth. Smooth is fast. Watching your demos, you don't look fast, but the timer tells a different story. It's because from the draw to the shot, it is one smooth, fluid, continuous motion. Focus on doing it correctly and doing it smoothly. The speed will come. You remind me a lot of Ron Avery, another great shooter and teacher. Rest in Peace friend Ron.

I like how drilled it into people's brains. By the end of that, I can now recite everything he said and can practice at the range after watching a few minute video. Thank you Pat!
@seanoneil277
@seanoneil277 2 года назад
The chant he uses as he's making each presentation and shot is an excellent way to drill. I'm guessing it goes back to when Pat Mac was first perfecting his pistol skills, and how he drilled them himself long ago. Absent the institutional inbreeding, of course!

This video is perfectly timed for me. I was taught this way of presentation during my LE career. As an instructor who works with many other instructors, I run into the argument of “the fastest way from point A to B” vs a flat presentation. I like how Pat lays it out in this video. Always top tier info from Pat!!

@wolverineqtg976

Respectfully I would disagree with the no look re-holstering. If one has had to draw your firearm for a defensive shooting, then one would be moving. Your cover garment would pull out and possibly foul up the opening to the holster. If one has been in a combative situation as well, then ones clothing would possibly be even more messed up. If you are holstering your defensive pistol, then the fight is over so you then have time to look, clear any fouling and re-holster your firearm.
