Don't dress the harness until the engine runs. 😆 I ain't superstitious, but I have learned not to even try to make it all nice until it all works. Just end up ripping it all apart again.

i agree, but the problem with making it run first is that then you never get around to making it pretty later.. :D cuz you're driving it all the time.

Just know when you twist wire like that, 2 things take place. A. Stretching of copper(when not careful & length shrinkage) B. It's difficult to separate or replace a single wire if or when something goes wrong with a specific wire. If doing that, do it in pair's.

Build it Yourself. Guys I left off at episode 12. Seems like a year ago it left me anxious for the next episode. Life went on, until my RU-vid news feed showed your reveal episode. I was beside myself. I can't express how hard it is to not go straight to the reveal. I am intrigued with it all but give you guys the credit you deserve, I can't sit still watching everything till the reveal. I'm hooked. I love what you guys have accomplished and you have done one hell of a job. Please by all means. If you decide to market anything from the build I will be one of the first to buy. I would love to have an engine like this. Great job

I have three sets of these four valve heads and man I hope everything you're doing works. I would love to just be able to buy a copy of everything you guys have done. Your cams, your head gaskets, your cooling system setup, your alternator setup, man you guys have done an incredible job. I would love to be able to just purchase the parts you guys have created keep it up fellas

There are some really fancy wiring loom fittings you can get. Hellerman and Alpha-Wire make T-Fittings and other neat convoluted tube fittings that will really clean up the harness. Digi-Key and Mouser Electronics sell them, not very expensive either.

We looked at a few options but heat shrink was still cheaper and we think it turned out pretty good

Everything you guys have done so far I’ve thought that would be fun to do and figure out. But wiring and harnesses, I can’t even imagine how difficult that would be. But what a great payoff. Great work as always!

Wiring harness work is my favorite part about the swap! So much fun to build your own harness but it’s definitely the most painful job on your hands, twisting wires with bare hands and such! So much fun! Edit: Those barrel crimps are the BEST! Only thing that comes close is a goooood solder joint but that’s way more time consuming and not necessarily better for vibration resistance. Nice find on the MAC thin wrench!

Just discovered this project today and I'm absolutely loving it all. Wiring is probably the most tedious part of any engine project in my opinion. You think you have it all wired up properly, and there's NO way it could ever be wrong, and then a random loose ground pin somewhere totally throws everything to the wind haha. I'll definitely be following along with the build!!

Also with the DBW humming: if you can change the frequency of the PWM in the ECU, set it to something over 20kHz and you won't hear it anymore. You might have to play with the control tuning a little bit assuming the throttles can handle it, but the noise will go away!

Manual for sure!!!! The MT-82 from the 11-14 GT should go in to the mark 8 if you run that platform, dirt cheap pretty good 6 speed.

Hey numbering the coils and injectors is not the firing order as in number of cylinder it’s the sequence. Apply your firing order to the sequence in the book. I’ve been there already. They should state that in the manual but I couldn’t find it. Had to figure it out cuz it had to be due to the backfiring

The only thing I've ever worked on with dual throttle bodies was a late '80s Jaguar V12. They were still mechanical at that point, with a turn table in the center that was connected via a cable to the throttle pedal then linkages that went to either throttle body, and their "throttle position" sensor was actually just a three position switch, which was actually three microswitches that engaged a cam as the throttle swept. I'm assuming that's all the data they needed to adjust the fuel tables, but I thought it was hilarious even before I knew how any of this stuff worked. What a turd that engine was in that incarnation. Apparently they were okay to work with in their original carbureted form but they could not be made to run well reliably with that awful fuel injection system on there.

I sub to alot of RU-vidrs and I gotta say, right now this project is the one I'm most excited to see updates on. Ps f wiring harnesses. I get that it's not hard but it's meticulous and the chance for error is high... Crimp something before you put a sleeve on... Cut it off and do it again... X1000

Since others are talking about transmissions, doesnt the 6r80 v8 bolt up to most v8 modulars? Pretty cheap option if so for the power levels you need and you can have paddle shifters instead of a clutch, 6 gears including first eould basically be a burnout gear lol. So then you could still do some crazy 4:10 rear gear

This is the first time im seeing this project, i feel like not doing twin turbos would almost be a waste with the dual throttle body lol.. but ive become fond of n/a motors lately also. Im curious what the end plan and goals are, ill be super interested to see the Dyno graphs both ways not alot of v10 info out there

If the intake is split, would twin turbo be a bad idea? I’ve never turbo’d anything, but it would only make sense if both charge pipes are connected in some way to avoid differing pressures from left and right bank/turbo. Is this a thing, and if so would it defeat the point of a dual throttle body?

We’ll be using the fueltech to sync the cam and crank sensors. It’s a pretty straight forward process with a timing light and the fueltech

Hi guys; I've got a question about crankshaft balance numbers. Normally on split pin crankshafts, the bobweight numbers will fall somewhere around 40%, but some machine shops will set them higher; I've seen ford v10 balance numbers published at 50%. Would you mind sharing what number you settled on? I know you aren't using the balance shaft, so I'm curious (and hoping) the engine is smooth. Good luck!

Do you two know what cam company you needed to tk talk to for the four cams of that V10 engine? I believe that Comp Cams is the best manufacturer of them. They custom grind them quite often for race engines.

Bullet Racing is finishing the cams for us. We had a contact that works there so we went with them.

Do the two of you know what? Ford needed to build that engine for performance enthusiasts. No, not necessarily as a production engine, except from their performance catalog. It has many specialty race components in them. The fact is that they have every component that you need to go racing with. Continue with the excellent work the two of you are doing.

Where did you get the connectors for the harness to the ECU? Are they just a generic connector or can you source a connector for a specific ECU? Are they expensive?

Those came with the ECU. But you can get them separately. They are TE/AMP connectors. I believe one of them are 3-1437290-8. They have unique keying.

In episode 1 they talk about converting the 6.8L 2valve v10 engine to a 4 valve version. They are using an unmodified v10 block, but have fused 4valve v8 heads together to make 4valve v10 heads. They did talk about having camshafts made though
