I still haven't seen this thing attempt high speed cruise. I'm beginning to doubt it really works.

I know right. The ME-262 sure does look fast sitting on the run way, but whole jet concept thing ain't never going to fly....

Brian, the crew at Opener are great especially Jenny G. I have been to their R&D lab in Palo Alto many times. There equivalent of Dyno pulls are amazing and very loud.

A more lovely test piolet they'd be hard-pressed to find. That craft could benefit from a couple of windows opening onto the ground

They don't have a technical problem, they have a legal problem. There is a reason even Amazon doesn't have unmanned drones in the sky, let alone FAA allowing manned ones (in a scenario like Blackfly claims to target: that of a commute, which means populated area). I love the innovation though. And for now, it is at least a glorified toy to play with out in a field.
@Mobev1
@Mobev1 2 года назад
Wrong….the faa has always adapted. They’ll let balloons float around but not this. You’re iq is probably 86. I high iq person doesn’t speak like this.
@groachslayer
@groachslayer 2 года назад
@@Mobev1 it takes a high IQ to be intellectually honest about a given situation. I never said the FAA wont adapt, I said its a problem (i.e. a challenge, a difficult one)

While I appreciate EAC in an often ridiculously amateurish industry... How about to *stop click-baiting* with half year old material and show us some user experience of the quoted 25 machines they sold in early fall 2021!?

With aviation fueled versions, these rotorcraft things fly every day carrying people in cruise mode. Theyn ow have dino fuel powered quadcopters. Alexa, what is a helicopter?

Fly this from your back yard and all your neighbors are going to the gun store to buy shotguns. How many miles away does it have to be so you don’t have to hear that horrible noise on takeoff.

With all the new aircraft like this it's very possible those could become common place for rescue in city's were helicopter's would be in possible due to the main roter. Just thank if those had been in use on 911 it's just possible lives could have been saved. The down wash from those small props is small next to even a small helicopter. Once the power Bank is work out it's possible those units could fly for hour's
@gpaull2
@gpaull2 2 года назад
The amount of downwash (thrust) required is based on aircraft weight, not rotor diameter. If anything smaller rotors require a higher speed downwash (low volume/high speed air vs high volume/low speed air to get same thrust). If you’ve been around old low bypass jet engines you’ll know that low volume/high speed thrust is much more destructive and loud.
@terriecotham1567
@terriecotham1567 2 года назад
@@gpaull2 you have a good point on the amount of air as big jet's can easily flip over light aircraft or suck in someone as the power is increasing But the much lighter aircraft and small fans using electric motors can go from off to full power at the flip of a switch With no big rotors it's possible those units could easily become life savings tools EMS or fire unit'in location's were the helicopter is impossible to use

You have to hate the look-at-the-sky attitude of this thing. Better design is possible surely? The best thing about this video is the girl.
