Something interesting I found was that in the Wycliffe and the Tyndale Bible, in Genesis, both books show remorse from Cain after he killed his brother “my wickedness/sin is too much for me to bare” while king James shows no remorse there “your punishment is too much for me to bare”. I prefer reading the Middle English texts. It’s very interesting.

Fascinating! Since the KJV translators put so much faith in Wycliffe, this puts a pretty big damper on the Combined TR’s, starting from the CT to Schrivner being the foundation of KJV onlyism.

One amazing thing I found out is that modern day Greeks that don’t speak English can easily understand the TR. I was watching a couple channels where these men were sharing the Gospel with Greek speaking folks and they understood it just fine. But you have to speak modern Greek. So If you learn modern Greek you can use the TR to witness to them. The TR is to the Greeks as the KJV is to us, very understandable.

Psalms 91 mentions goblins in WYC I've seen a goblin before. I believe they are what puts thoughts into people heads like kill cause i think it was attached to someone i used to work with that told me he fights those thoughts. I want a aramaic plain English Bible too.

I thought John Wycliffe was persecuted and the same with his Bible was persecuted with him... I read he was persecuted by the Roman Catholic Church for his translation because he wanted to bring a translation for the common man.

@@Qhther The Wycliffe translation was made in the late 1300s from the Vulgate, a Latin translation of the Bible made by Jerome. Wycliffe translated from the Vulgate because that was the official Bible during the Mediaeval period, but as a result Wycliffe's version is effectively an English translation of a Latin translation of Greek and Hebrew texts. Starting with Tyndale, virtually all Protestant Bibles have been translated directly from the Greek and Hebrew original texts. Wycliffe's Bible was a noble effort and an important piece of history, but there is no reason to use it as your primary Bible today.

In revelation 17, the wycliffe translates the eight as a she, rather than he, in reference to the whore that rides the beast. It kind of makes sense, as a woman riding a seven headed beast would technically be the eight. Do you think there is any validity to this interpretation? 8 The beast which thou seest, was, and is not; and she shall ascend up from [the] deepness, and she shall go into perishing. And men dwelling in earth shall wonder, whose names be not written in the book of life from the making of the world, seeing the beast, that was, and is not. 9 And this is the wit, who that hath wisdom. The seven heads be seven hills, on which the woman sitteth, 10 and kings seven be [and be seven kings]. Five have felled down [Five have fallen down], and one is, and another cometh not yet. And when he shall come, it behooveth him to dwell a short time. 11 And the beast that was, and is not, and she is the eighth, and is of the seven, and shall go into perishing.
