I have owned both. My home HVAC generates brutal noise since my antennas are located in the attic. Bottom line: the Yaesu receiver by far achieves better results. But I loved the 7300.
Hi, do you know if the yaesu has a delay when utilizing the linear out Jack to trigger a soft keying circuit of an amplifier. Before the actual RF transmit is turned on? Someone mentioned that there is a 50ms delay but I wasn’t able to find any info. I mostly use vacuum relays but still wanted to make sure that I am closing the relay first before a ton of power passed through them. Tony NB785
This is the comparison of TWO small cheap SPEAKERS, that inserted to the body of both expensive radios. The speakers aimed to check DO THE RADIOS WORK OR NOT ONLY. The title of this video has to be changed: The Speaker FT-710 vs Speaker IC-7300 😀which is worst ?
There's something wrong : the 710 sounds "better" i mean the audio is bit "rounded" because it's under the shelf ts the speaker isn't on open space/air like the 7300 does . That's why the 7300 shouds bit "crisp" and the 710 more "comfy" but that's because one is on open air while the other one doesn't . In other words the 710 has sort of acustic chamber because the speaker is pointing toward the the wood shelf top instead of the open air . The two radios should be "shoulder to shoulder" or by using a matching external speaker of any sort with a switch to select the audio source .
I wear headphones while operating and I can say that the FT-710 sounds much better than the IC-7300 using the same headphones. The FT-710 is quieter and much easier on the ears
Interesting to note the 7300 came out in 2015 and the Yaesu 710 just last year; yet the 7300 easily holds its own. One would think a rig 7 yrs newer would be head and shoulders above, but alas it is not…not even close.
I have had 50+ radios...none had better receive audio than a fully loaded ICOM R71A. My bias is that I don't like DSP...it reminds me of downloading mp3 when they first came out...
My favorite memory of my two 7300s was when they were carefully placed on the seat of the car owned by the gentleman who had just handed me a wad of ca$h.
We can't compare the audio because both radios are in different places and the FT-710 is in the recess. As for the rest, it is obvious that the FT-710 has a much better receiver, which is confirmed by the tests and ranking of Sherwood engineers. The IC-7300 has weak filters, a poorly designed ALC that limits the power in SSB to about 70W and many other disadvantages. The only advantage is a large color display and extremely simplified operation for undemanding users. What can be discussed are personal preferences regarding operation or menu solutions, but these are only the subjective feelings of users.
Any real audio comparison has to be done in person. Not online because the speakers on computers or Smart Phones are not reproducing the true audio response. I see these type of comparisons every day on various channels about HiFi speakers and electronics and I’m just amazed that they do these comparisons over a RU-vid Channel and there is absolutely no way someone watching and listening can be getting a sense of what the true response really is. The presenter can easily notice a difference but the viewer may hear a difference between A and B but it’s not an accurate comparison of what is really occurring in the listening room or the Ham Shack.
I disagree, some folks like to watch video comparisons before they purchase a radio "I am one of them" and it may not be perfect but at least it gives a person an idea of what the radio sounds like...
I do agree that many people like to see reviews and opinions about products, whether it be cars, washing machines or radios. It does offer much information. Where we politely disagree is in the presentation of accurate audio quality which is better suited for a different type of presentation and an audio presentation online will not be a good representation of an aural experience. Many other important features can easily be accurately presented and compared. Audio is just not one of those features best demonstrated online. Thanks for your input and the presentation of ham consumer products.
