A quick demonstration of a cold start, plus an empty float bowl. I had run the generator out of gas the day before and the generator sat in sub 40 degrees (f) through the night.
So I thought I would show how easily the Costco generator started up. I have been quite impressed with this little Yamaha motor and the iA-Power inverter.
I have only overloaded the circuit a couple times just trying to see what it could handle. So far I can run a large oil heater on medium heat with another small fan style heater on low. If i turn on any light in the 5th wheel after that, then the circuit goes.
Resetting the circuit, I have to turn the dial to "OFF" until the red light turns off then quickly turn it back to "RUN" Otherwise you'll have to pull the crank again. For some reason, I can't just push the circuit reset button?
Also, the generator can't handle our A/C unit or an electric staple gun. The A/C trips the circuit, while the electric staple gun acts like it has no power.
Overall the Costco generator powered by Yamaha works great for our needs. We have only used it for our renovation in the 5th wheel, but we can see it handling our needs while we boondock with our new home.

I run the Smarter Tools version. A little bit older variant of the same machine. Mine runs smooth and quiet after proper break in and replacement of the spark plug with an NGK plug. Seems like this one was surging in the beginning and the regular idle seemed a bit high compared to mine. I do a five step break in. Massage the cylinder, replace the plug, and one hour oil changes. I coat the air filter with oil and run ethanol free gas with a combination of seafoam and Lucas fuel treatment. My other generators are 10 to 15 years running and run like new. I attribute this to meticulous maintenance, proper fuels and break in. The smarter Tools 2000 has been a great little generator for topping batteries and keeping power tool batteries charged up.

Great instructional video, Thanx. The reason that there is a little oil in it is because at the factory they had to fill it and test it, then drain it for shipment. I have another new generator that was filled with oil and it leaked and made the bottom of the shipping box soaked. . Noise level: There is no such thing as a "Quiet" generator. ALL generators are noisy and have to be to run a good load. Also I wonder if the Generator/Inverter is Pure or modified Sine wave ors bonded. I tried to run a small window ir conditioner (600w with 900 watt surge) in my RV and it did not get cold though the fan ran. I bought from amazon a bonding plug in the 120 volt outlet and ran the RV power from the 30amp with surge protector and the air conditioner then ran freezing cold. Fact most small generators will not run the RV Air Conditioners that are installed in them, bummer!

In case your all wondering, the Ai power 2300 watt unit has a Yamaha engine. Ai power did not yet have the Yamaha approval and licensing to put a Yamaha logo on the unit at time of manufacturing and production. The red Ai 2000 unit does not have the Yamaha engine and the blue Ai 2000 watt inverter generator has a Yamaha engine same as engine in the 2300 watt Ai power

Any idea why the choke run off knob would get stuck. Well not really stuck, I ran it to charge my off grid batteries and it ran fine and ran out of gas, stopping normally. 3 days later I went to use again, filled with gas and when I went to turn the knob to the start choke position it will not turn in that direction. It will turn towards the off position. But won't go past run position towards choke. If you have any suggestions I would be grateful. (FYI I change the oil and clean the air filter regularly. 3 runs after last maintenance withoutany trouble.)

Bought the A-ipower red model runs real quiet not easy starting and overloaded it once and goes into overload mode every time its started really wanted to like it but poor electronics/quality control and own a larger Firman and it fires up and runs awesome so look at a smaller Firman instead returned A-ipower 2000

dunno yolo dang! That’s a bummer! Did you try claiming a warranty? I thought I saw it had a two year warranty? Maybe that didn’t include the electronics though...

@@Svaren it was first time ever using it so just returned it to amazon and they had no replacement out of stock like the look and feel of it just bad luck

My dads goes into overload every startup as well. I’ve been trying to find a fox for it the last couple days but no luck.

Are you still running AiPower? Taking bookings on you've upgraded to MORE power. Instead of A-I power. : ) "I've got $50 on UPgrade . . . . who'll see $75 ?? Now, a hundred . . ." Let you know the results later. Sorry, I can't let you bet on this one.

That is a light Duty engine designed by Yamaha and made in China under license from Yamaha. Everything else is not Yamaha.
