We swapped from Yamaha F350 to Mercury 400 V10 Verados on our 2017 42' Yellowfin! Power Increase Better Fuel Efficiency 10mph of top end speed gain! Shout out to Kyle at ProMarine on the swap Chad at Stategy Marine for the dash
Just doing the math in australia. Full speed burning 100 gallons per hour = 378 liters would cost us Aussies about $800 per hour AUD, roughly $540 USD. Nothing costs like fun in boats and planes hey. Helicopters prob worse lol
Between fuel and little pickup trucks, Aussie boats end up being pretty small. Not that I don't still drool over them. You guys are the master of aluminum pilothouse weekender fishing boats.
Fellow Aussie here. This boat is an epic setup.. I would also add cars to that list. If you want to play, you gotta pay. Boats, planes, cars. Basically anything with an engine.
You can fix the vinyl by using Seabright, mold and mildew remover from West Marine, and then power wash. Don’t forget to get a vinyl reconditioner also from West Marine.. I had the same exact problem on my pontoon boat and thought my final was trashed but after doing this, it looked brand new I was amazed
Beautiful piece of machinery. I love the wrap and all the sponsors. Huge shout out to Chad and Kyle. Please get Caroline set up driving with the new motors. I will be excepting a race between this boat and Gatortail in the near future. Peace.
The lower unit of the motor spinning opposite gets more wear because it is a single engine working to counter the rotation of two engines running the same direction as one another. More strain on the one for sure.
I was a cop for 24 years and was lucky enough to do a temp with our marine patrol one summer. The boat was very similar to this one, only bigger. I have to say it was one of the funnest things I ever got to do in my career. If you think 62 mph looks fast on video, I promise you, it feels like light speed at the helm.
Curious as to how much your trimming the motors on the top end?? I trim up and up and up until they start reving too rpms or start loosing bite.. then bump the trim back down just a tad… getting the front of the boat out of the water , less wetted surface means more SPEED !!!!! Oh and keep an eye on that water pressure…😮😅
Don't worry about running aground, I think running aground is the same for boaters/sailors as dropping a motorcycle. There are only riders that have dropped one and riders that will drop one. Its only a matter of time. I watch SV Delos regularly and they have been sailing the same boat for years circumnavigating the world, so Brian is a very experianced captain and knows his boat yet he has still run aground once or twice. Hell one of them might have been earlier this year.
How Long was break in? 150hp more horsepower and how much top speed did you Say? Or my hearing must be Off. Did you say 8 mph more ? Hope you got a Great deal on those Yamahas
Nice. if you tap the power button on the Simrad you get an option for night mode in RED or GREEN. Hey you probably already knew that but maybe that helps.
Hey Parker holler at Blue Gabe, or Deermeat for dinner thay are down in Jupiter FL thay might know someone to get your seats and everything re covered I like the fresh units on the back of the boat!!
Was wondering what your wide open fuel flow was per engine… looks like 33ish gph… I have quad Suzuki (first gen) 300s and my max fuel burn is never more than 99gph…. Love those Mercs… Thanks for posting!
I had dodi Fayeds old jet tender from his superyacht 3L 2smoke 0 to 57.5mph rev limiter just over three seconds absolutely brutal. It drunk so much fuel i couldn't afford to run it 🤣🤣🤣
Sweet boat. That 42 Yellowfin full of fuel, with the triple 400s and the generator weighs around 21,000 pounds. Then add the people, ice, drinks, and whatever else that is on board that didn't come on it from the factory. The boat alone, without engines, generator, and fuel weighs 15,000 pounds. Those trip' 400s push it very well.
There are two kinds of boaters out there. The ones that have run aground and admit it. And then the others that have and lie about it. Sand groundings are no biggie. I think it was the third day in my 35 that I put it on the sand. Not at idle! But mine was an inboard and I dinged up a couple of pricey props. Oops Duh!
I built your underwater lights and controllers for the Garmin. Shadow Caster scm 10 extended. Made local in Clearwater. Come tour our facility to see some behind the scenes.
Parker ask the guys that rigged it if they used g3 when they propped it. Those engines won't let you over rev. There might be couple more mph left there. It's all about the 3 "d"s brother.
I know a place on mh side of Florida cocoa Beach actually the shop is in cape canav6hes awesome just look up upholstery in cape one thing I don't miss there is no way I would pay the fuel prices especially at Mariana
