I mean if I understand it right, the entire point of Ywach's plan was he wanted to piss Yama off so much he'd waste his energy fighting his double, even if theoretically Ywach could contain Yama's bankai from the get go, he didn't think it was a good idea to fight Yama at 100%, even if he thought he'd win it'd probably be a pyrrhic one.

The biggest problem of Yamamotos strength is that it is known - so every enemy that has to fear it, will make a plan to get around it. 95% chance the whole "bankai stealing" thing was originally developed to counter Yamamoto. It just proved scalable enough, it was used against all captains.

Yhwach was much smarter than Yama, unfortunately Yama relied on all that power when it came to a fight among peers. Was smart as hell for him to wipe out his Bankai, even though Yama has monster physical strength and other kido abilities, Yuha knew it just wasn't enough compared to that Bankai. Yama's raw power is hands down undisputed, but it was like Royd Loyd said, 'You give into your anger'. Overall a great way to take Yama out, and progress the story to make you loathe the villain and the ground he stands on haha.

He was focusing the heat around himself. What evaporated the water in the air was the miniscule amount he couldn't contain. That's why touching those flame robes instantly erased Yhwach's (Royd's) sword. If Yamamoto relaxed his spiritual pressure he'd probably spawn a full sized star

Both Aizen and Ywach had to rid him of his Zanpakto in order to defeat him. Aizen himself said he would have lost to Yama if he didn't have Wonderweiss seal his sword. They also never really explained how Royd Loyd's power worked and how he so easily defeated Kenpachi while also standing his ground against Yama. We'll probably see Yama again in Hell since that's where Captains end up after death.

It's ironic that Byakuya in his fight against Ichigo stated that the small blade of Tensa Zangetsu can't possibly be a Bankai since it cannot be so small and fragile. It's almost iconic that the Bankai of the Head of Gotei 13 is just as "small and fragile". Goes on to prove the naivety of Byakuya. 😊

I would say that the flames and skeletons are all part of his bankai giving it an overall big effect, even if the blade is the focal point of it's power. Ichigo does have a peculiar bankai because it wasn't bankai. Almost all other bankai are large or have powers that are widespread

@@tonymack4120Ichigo's Bankai is a cloak-type. His Bankai only affects him, not his Zanpakutō or the environment. That's why he gains tremendous speed and power when compared to his Shikai state. Byakuya literally corrected himself during his first battle with Ichigo saying exactly that. It's further proven by the fact that his shihakusho is a direct representation of his current reiatsu level (see post-Ulquiorra fight in Garganta with Unohana Captain).

This was always going to be Old Man Yama's final duel. Had he killed Real Yuha, he wouldn't have a reason to use his sword anymore and could've stepped down to let Shunsui take his place. I mean when you think about it, he always knew that one day Yuha will return because he didn't finish the job thousands of years ago. And there is no other threat after Yuha that the other Captains can't handle. Soul Society would be in good hands under Shunsui. So if Old Man Yama won, he'd retire.

Honestly, even if I hadn’t already know from reading the manga, I knew Yamamoto would lose against Yhwach. His sheer power was matched only by his arrogance. The moment I realized he never got his arm fixed (either from orihime or some other way) I knew he would die in the final arc/battle. Not to mention, at every opportunity his opponents have found a way to circumvent or deny his powers, yet he never seemed to learn from it. All this on top of the fact that due to his sheer power a defensive battle would end in a loss regardless of victory. Yeah he killed yhwach, but those few seconds of his bankai being active probably vaporized a decent chunk of the souls in the rukongai, and probably finished off a lot of injured soul reapers.

No that isn’t true. Back then Quincy could only use bows and arrows. Later generations learned how to create other weapons like swords.

@@gwstreamsand the qunciys split off too. Uryu’s grandfather’s people used more traditional qunicy abilities and wanted to work alongside Soul Reapers. Stated when Ichigo fought the quincy in Huco Mundo. Ichigo compared his awakened form to the one that cost Uryu’s his powers and he gives that explanation.

Had the real ywha fought Yamamoto at first he would have in character stolen his bankai and ended it in one shot however lets say for some reason yh didn't steal yammas bankai yh would definitely have had to use the Almighty to win but since he couldn't awaken the Almighty at this time he would have lost again so good thing Yamamoto didn't wait to hollowfie his bankai
