Hey yogis, this week I'm offering you a yummy yin yoga class for your hips that doesn't require any props! This is a beginner yin yoga class to increase flexibility in your hips and legs while also relieving lower back pain. We'll also stretch a bit into the glutes and quads.
What is Yin Yoga? Yin yoga is often called the Yoga of the joints because unlike other styles of yoga, the emphasis is not on the muscles but on the deep connective tissue. Connective tissue is made up of fascia, ligaments and tendons which surround and form your joints. Yin yoga improves the range of motion in your joints and also strengthens them. The results and benefits are more flexibility and greater range of motion and also more stability within your joints. Although your muscles will also be stretched, that is not the focus of the practice. It is best to practice yin yoga while your muscles are cold and NOT warmed up, even if that sounds counter intuitive. The reason we do this is so that we can send the "stress" and the "Stretch" to the connective tissues. If the muscles are warm they will steal the focus away from the joints.

I absolutely LOVED the stretches in this video 💗 but for the first time ever I have a "complaint " (suggestion) 😬 I missed your wonderful affirmations 👍 and the background music was very dissonant 🥴 Maybe having healing Hz music in the background would be good? Just done your new class... Thank you. I’m knocking on the door of 70 and one of my hips is quite painful and stiff when I first get up... I found this class very helpful.

Did this class with hubby...we were silent until 20 minutes in he says, "D'they have a cat playing the piano?" and now I can't do this class without cracking up.

I love this yin yoga! On my playlist of favorites, I love that you don't continuously talk through every pose, and the no props is a huge benefit since im awaiting the delivery of my blocks!

I've really been enjoying these yin yoga classes, especially the ones for hips and lower back. I'm already seeing improved flexibility, several of the moves like reclined pigeon pose are much easier now. Thanks Kassandra!

OH my been practicing yoga for awhile...but first time doing yin yoga...wow!! Game changer for sure..felt like with each pose breathing deep into it, was feeding my joints, muscles ect....am always tight in my hips, back, and thighs. Also, this says a big SHHHHH to mind chatter!! very calming to do before bed, and my body feels so loose and wonderful...looking forward to more of these. For me with yoga, flexibility and stretch comes first!! Love your guideance Kassandra, tysvm!! xxx

Good stuff! I always need to open my hips to release energy, create space in my sacral chakra and alleviate potential cramps during my moon cycle. This was a great practice to tend to my hip space and divine feminine energies.

This was a great class. I try to do yin for my hips several times a week, so it's great to have new options. I loved the laying spinal twist with the quad stretch- it worked my back and hips in a totally new way.

I LOVE this practice. I have done it several times. I do a lot of strength training, and sometimes my hips get very tight. This practice always helps. Reclined shoelace is the BEST!

I love this video. I’d like more like this with maybe little bit of stretching poses added on for other parts but still focused on hips. I have been using this to fix an injury instead of physical therapy and my hip is getting such better motion thank you 🙏🏾

Hi Kassandra, nice to see a session without props, I have always used props in my teaching and just get use to using them. A bit like a comfort blanket, so thanks for the approach without blocks.

That was awesome. Thank you for creating these wonderful workouts. I have a love/hate relationship with yin. It forces me to TRY to settle down and not be so reactive and dramatic.
