Shield K9 just recently made a video clip on food aggression / resource guarding and how to fix it. It is brilliant. I love it. With my own GSD I used to just trade or swop him if he stole something and he actually stopped doing it. And I used to hand feed him out of his bowl (quite ikky coz he is raw fed LOL). But he is totally safe around food, toys or something he took that he was not supposed to.

Jesse is 8 now and I have been blessed with such a wonderful girl . I watch all your videos and m always learning something new or refreshed on something I can do better or more of...After watching a recent video on exercising an older dog ...I took Jesse and Skye(my sons black gsd ) out for a run.. 50-100 yards at A time till we completed about a mile.The 50-100 yards was all I could handle 😂They were kind enough to let me catch my breath!

I have an 8 month old female black and tan GSD. I hand fed her kibble, then put my hands in her bowl whilst she ate and then I would grab her bowl whilst she was eating and have her sit and give it back to her. Now I get her to sit and stay and wait for the "Ok" release

Thank the Lord, Big Billy has never guarded anything. Ever. I can take anything from him and he doesn’t care. My kids too. I am lucky with this one! He’s just a sweetheart and seems to know his place in the household. And I do put his toys up. Great advice as always!!!!!!!!! Thank you!!!!!!!❤️❤️❤️

This is spot on and I'm so glad we got your system and followed it. I used to train my own dogs my way. But admittedly my way wasn't the greatest and my results were slow. We've done it your way since ours was just a puppy and she is amazing. Even in her rebellious teenage years. Lol. Often times I can teach her something new and literally within minutes she has a good grasp of what is expected. Within a couple days she's like magic. I get so many compliments on her behavior and manners it's great. Even our vet the other day was shocked at how gentle and well behaved she was for only being 14 months old. Thank you GSM. Couldn't have done it without you.

What a coincidence you just uploaded this!! My pup (close to 10 weeks) gave out a small growl for the first time during breakfast. Ever since I got him I would put my hand in the bowl, touch his body ect. Thank you for the great advice!!

I don't just put my hand in but I'd lift the bowl as well, get the pup to sit and put the food back down. Did the same with treats, toys etc. For the exact reasons you mentioned. In 30 years of gsd ownership I've never had resource guarding, I wouldn't put up with it. Our second growled once while eating, food taken away. Put her in a sit, food put down, told to get it and she never did it again. They're super smart dogs and, imo, the easiest to train

Better to teach your dogs/pups to sit and wait with their food in front of them with the dog focused on you. The dog can only eat once released. Not a fan of putting hands in bowls. It would annoy me if someone did that.
