This video is by far my favorite video that you have ever done… In my opinion, this is the most important thing on purchasing a puppy… Watching your past videos I tried to use all your wisdom from your videos to choose the FORD German Shepherd’s I presently have today And it worked 100% accurate so I really appreciate your experience knowledge love and patience for your dogs and I take that same attitude with my dogs… I think these videos you do are absolutely priceless and when I purchased two dogs from you in the future, which by the way will be female and I want the most laid-back dogs you have and I would like to come out to wear you have all your dogs and you help me pick out two of your best smartest laid-back dogs you have dogs that I’ve seen that I really liked are supernova, star, Sergeant, those type personalities. I really really like among a few others, but I forget their names. Anyway this video was so helpful and brilliantly done. I love this channel, and so do my German shepherds🐕🐕🐕🐕🇺🇸🙏⭐️☮️😇👍💜💜💜💜

Reference New Pup Dieter (Diet). Charles interviewed me by phone and in person. months ago. After many questions of my past adult dog experience, and my desires of what I was looking for, I went in person to his puppy ranch on 7/16/22, to look at the litter that was available. GSM new enough about me and selected a male pup for my family. This is the same pup I would have selected for myself. We will pick him up on 7/30/22. For 2 years before my retirement I search the USA for top breaders of GSD. When I eventuality met Charles I realized he not cared about his GSD, he also cared about the possible new owners. I wanted a laid back puppy from GSM... what I got was a puppy perfect for protection work. He's playful with a balanced prey and food drive... but man, when he's doing bite work, he turns into a beast. Not what I was looking for, but he is a Son of Sergeant.

Oh. if only we had the money to get one of your puppies. I gave up on the GSDs years ago due to so many are so poorly bred ones. The gsd that I grew up with came from my uncles farm in the 1960's. His gsd was their farm dog. Back when GSDs were still often born and raised on farms. They were also wonderful dogs for the farm children. Followed them around and kept them out of trouble and danger. Those gsds just had the instincts to know what needed to be done. And they were not the hump back gsds that we see today. Nor were they 100 plus pound gsds. Their personality was not bred to the extreme either. They could be just as content to lay on the porch or in the barn yard as they were protecting those that lived in the barn yard and pastures. Not to mention rescuing us kids when need be. Like the time I thought i could catch one of my uncles piglets. I climbed in the pen (momma sow was no where to be seen) and approched the piglets. Momma came running out of the barn after me. My uncles gsd leaped into the pen and kept her back as I ran and scrambled over the fence, then she leaped over right behind me. That dog saved my kid self. I am quite sure I would not have been able to get out of that pen before she got me, without that dog cutting her off. I have always said that if I could find an old style gsd, I would love to have one. By old style, I am talking like the ones from early 60's and earlier. The kind that can turn on the energy when needed and chill out with the family the rest of the time. Plus one that is physically built like a normal dog and not a freak of nature. lol Your dogs are beautiful and I love your breeding program and how well you know your dogs and their personalities. I always go for the reserved puppy. the one that is not so friendly. The one that does not have a desire to rush in and make friends. The thinking puppy. The one that thinks before they jump into something. The velcro puppy. The relaxed and chilled puppy. In hopes that the puppy will keep these traites as an adult.

You helped me pick my WonderGirl out. And she fit in so perfect. She is now 6 months old. I have your Puppy Training System when I bought her and constantly use it. It really works great. Makes raising her so much easier. I really am proud of my GSD puppy and love her more than I can say. She is so fun and shows her love back. You did a great job picking my GSD out. Thank you GSM.

I have a super athletic Black GSD DDR. Big heavy bones, square face, 125lbs of pure muscle. Don’t get a show dog! Working line are the best! 🐺🧬

Wow! I love all the in depth information you give. Selecting a breeder is sooo important. I have seen some that literally will throw a dog to anyone with the cash for it and they have no clue what they are signing up for. We are getting our second GSD in November, but shall we ever need a third I will look to your program!

I’m so excited to receive my GSM puppy this weekend! I purchased her remaining items, and they should be here by Thursday. Vet visit, earliest I could get, is set for next Wednesday. Originally, it was our other dogs appointment. I had scheduled that weeks ago, however, I was able to swap them out. (OT)

Really great information. Can you do a few more videos like this? For instance, if someone were looking for a calm dog that liked to be around their person (velcro-ish, but absent separation anxiety) isn't overly wired all the time or at least has an "off" switch, and is okay around other dogs and people, what puppy traits might indicate a high aptitude for this? In other words, I'm at the breeder's place, observing a litter, what do I look for? Obviously all of the traits I've described come from strong socialization and training, but as you suggest, every dog comes with its own personality and unique aptitudes.

Actually, the best thing to do when you decide to get a puppy is to visit the breeder, see the parents and litter, and let the puppy pick you. This is the only way I will buy a puppy. I have 2 black and tan Saddleback Heidelberg GSD's...my favorite!
