The true beauty of this show is that they got Laurie Metcalf's (Sheldon's mother in TBBT) daughter to play her younger self. Zoe Perry has her mother's looks, as well as her voice and mannerisms down to an art, and creates a seamless bridge between young and old. What are you on about? She was a bitch basically the entire clip. She assumed because Dr.Sturgis was similar to Sheldon that Sheldon would immediately turn out the same. Sheldon has mental intelligence, Missy has emotional intelligence and Georgie is physically intelligent. Georgie has to communicate, make business moves through work ethic and physical labor in tires. Missy is emotionally intelligent and can spot and predict things instantly since the pilot through studying everyone’s habits, but is caught up with boys and popularity which bites her future (failed marriages). Sheldon’s intelligence carries him to theoretical success but he needs to become emotionally available with Amy to achieve his goals. In the era of sequels and reboots I think we’ll get a future series of BBT where Georgie expands his tire business in California, Amy makes a spontaneous connection with Missy through neuroscience and Sheldon learns to become a better father.

I feel it's because Sheldon became more jaded after George passed away. George was always around to set him straight in certain ways, when he passed away, leaving Sheldon with his mother who already coddles him, he became even more reclusive as he's said it before to Howard, how he didn't have any friends to help him Cope with his father's death, as obviously Mary and Missy would have been beside themselves and Geogie had to stepup and be the man of the house

not quite. there is a differnce between being sarcastic and understanding sarcasm. You can be a very sarcastic person while not being able to tell, if someone else is sarcastic now or actually mean what he is saying.
@arTIGstry
@arTIGstry 2 года назад
It's a difficult one, I can see why you might be confused. Although, like what a previous commenter has said: using and understanding sarcasm is different. To further explain this, as a neurodivergent person myself, I can say that while I do know what sarcasm is and how to use it, it can be difficult for me at times to understand when another person is being sarcastic; so I might sometimes take what they're saying a little too literal or take it upon myself to ask if they're using sarcasm. I have also been known to misunderstand a rhetorical question as an actual one on occasion, which I think can be seen as a similar situation.

So, she thought a professional's input and mediation might help. And it did. I think it's better than just saying "I don't want to hear about it again!" to a child because the parent is conflicted about something they can't seem to figure out on their own. I think Mary is right here for once. Sheldon does show signs of being more than an eccentric genius, since he is the only child in his family who acts like this I would be having him tested to see if it could become more than issue when he becomes an adult. From TBBT, we see it doesn’t become violent or anything really bad but it is still a problem (Sheldon doesn’t change but it’s harder to get away with his cruel unintentional insults and forcing others to make excuses for bad actions as an adult) but how could they know in Young Sheldon? Although Sheldon was never diagnosed with anything, I still think he is quite high up on the autism spectrum. Maybe he was not diagnosed due to the time period and people are less likely to be properly tested as an adult. Sheldon issues’s are never properly addressed in Young Sheldon or TBBT, which could have been detrimental.

I never was able to get into this "Young Sheldon" show. 😕 I'm a big fan of Big Bang Theory after my wife introduced me to it, and one of my favorite things about the show is Sheldon because of how I can relate to him. Not because I'm a super genius hehe, but because Sheldons character clearly has some form of autism like I do (high-functioning autism). 🙂 My wife thought it would be funny for me to see a show with a character who were a bit like me. 😂 And I love seeing Sheldons "moments", where he acts like an extreme version of how I am at a daily basis. It both makes me laugh, but also gives me a "helicopter view" on how others low-key view me at a daily basis, which is very interesting. 🙂 Adult Sheldon in Big Bang isn't mean to people on purpose, but is so unknowingly because of his lack of social skills. And when things don't go his way, or his routine is broken, Sheldon has meltdowns. And then we have Young Sheldon... Which makes him seem like a mean little "Sherlock Holmes" who manipulates everyone around him because "he knows he is smarter than them", while not acting like a kid his age. It is so far out of character from the adult Sheldon I loved watching in Big Bang Theory. 😕 I also noticed that young Sheldon clearly understands sarcasm... 😅 Which is one of the key quirks adult Sheldon struggle with trying to learn. It is VERY odd to see a young Sheldon, who is MUCH better socially than adult Sheldon. Kind of like his social skills regressed as an adult. And yes... Not understanding sarcasm means you won't be able to perform sarcasm. I see people in the comments defending the plot holes like this one saying "you can be sarcastic even if you don't understand it". Which is not true in Sheldons case hehe. 🙂 There is a BIG difference between "not understanding sarcasm", and "not knowing how to read sarcasm". One is a complete lack in understanding it (which adult Sheldon has), and the other is a typical autistic trait where 'emotion recognition and expression' is lacking (which I have). But in the end it doesn't really matter... Young Sheldon is clearly meant for a different target audience than Big Bang Theory was. They took the "Sheldon brand" and went a different direction with it, and people seem to enjoy it for what it is. 🙂 It's just too bad seeing some of the Big Bang Theory fans being disappointed when they start watching Young Sheldon expecting it to give off the same energy as Sheldon did in Big Bang Theory.

😕 I deeply agree especially the first part, young sheldon's clips alone make me feel the way sheldon did when he was asked to sit somewhere else 😹 Young sheldon is straight forward mean and manipulative, lacks a lot of basic manners when it comes to treating people in my opinion, on the other hand sheldon is just a genius who seems to be on the spectrum and extremely lacks social skills but is a sweet and lovely human who tries to improve

Well she might think she's being a good mother but coddling him and letting him get away with most of his behavior is setting him up for failure when it comes to normal human interactions. Proven by the adult sheldon and his life

@@TheChlozie Thank you but honestly I laugh about it because when my parents did spank it was rare I deserved it and now I’m a better adult for it. I think my dad maybe spanked me one time and it was when I was three. But my mom she maybe spanked me 5 or 6 times my whole life. I just know when that particular scene the way Sheldon was talking to her my mother and father would’ve never let me get away with that and I probably would’ve gotten an ass whooping for it. A whooping was always their last resort though
