Good info for the 10X owners out there, thank you. I love the K-wheel damper on mine. As for the creaking.... Early tip from Falcon PEV was to alternately tighten the stem clamps multiple times, top one/ bottom one/ top one bottom one, and so on, as each time one is tightened the other becomes a bit looser. After doing this alternate tightening several times, the stem is really rigid, and there is no creaking. I believe a lot of those beefier collars are sold due to lack of owner awareness of this procedure. I shy away from that upgrade because it makes folding a lot less convenient. Using correct technique provided by Falcon, don't find I need it. I'll check out your brake bleed post for the some day I will need to do it!

Hi, thanks for the positive feedback! Yes, I think those heavy duty clamps are probably not essential if you pay attention to the way you tighten the factory clamp. Ride safe!
@spud.9875
@spud.9875 2 года назад
@@MarksElectricLife I disagree, I’ve been using my 10X for a while now, put over 2k km on it and I’ve had to replace my whole collar. After tightening it over and over the metal starts to stretch slowly and it gets to a point where you can fully close it and you’re unable to tighten it any more.

i just figured out the same method today with top then bottom then top. now i have 0% creaking and i saved money on a ridged clamp!

i use the electronic brakes for the most part, theres very little need to brake really hard except for emergencies. its a good way to preserve the actual brakes and its components.

I also have a 10x,you did cover in general the tightening of front and back end.The fasteners that hold the top of each shock should be paid special attention too,they back off easily due to the forces of course but the top of those shocks coming loose and dropping onto the tires is a world of hurt in the blink of an eye,I use heavy loctight to hold these in.

My 8mm stem bolt was also loose, I caught mine brand new out of the box though setting it up and got the right advice from the place I ordered. The heavy duty clamp is also a must, I agree. Living in UK waterproofing with silicon is also advisable.

Hi Steve, thanks for the comment. Yes, waterproofing (or the lack of) is probably the biggest gripe I have with Zero scooters. Hopefully they will address this in future models.

@@DanceySteveYNWA Hi I'm in Australia and bought them on eBay here : www.ebay.com.au/itm/363094163281 You will probably find someone on ebay where you are who sells the same item or similar. Yes, I think anyone who rides on the road without at least one rear view mirror is crazy. It's like driving a car with no mirrors - you are an accident looking for a place to happen. I felt much safer as soon as I fitted them. Tried two other styles that were useless before I got these. First was the one with a bendy stem. It wobbled too much. Second was like a motorcycle mirror but smaller. It couldn't see around my body. These are the best type to get. They were also the least expensive. Good luck !

If you fold the stem down you will find 2 small metal grub screws that tighten against aluminium that wears down and is the stem creek noise . Tighten them a little and it goes away . Also put a dab of thick grease right where they rub !
@TheChazas
@TheChazas 3 года назад
These are more like maintenance reminders and not the issues. Brake bleed is quite common, and often needed out of the box, specially for rear brakes, since the more you fold the stem the more rear brake cable bends and creates unwanted pressure and air bubbles. And well bolts should be checked all the time and every few rides.
@MarksElectricLife
@MarksElectricLife 3 года назад
Fair point. That said I think these things should have been checked by the seller before the product went out the door. Imagine if you picked up a new car and one of the front wheels fell off the next day, I think you'd be pretty angry with the dealer for not doing a proper pre-delivery. Also, if it is your first scooter you don't know what you don't know. I just thought the creaky stem was normal as I'd heard many other owners complain about it.

One thing i find out when buying an escooter. Don't trust that it is installed properly and screw are screwed in properly. And don't trust they bleed your brake properly and ready to go.

It would be a good idea to move up to 3" tires rather then the 2.5's. Far better control and ride comfort.
@michaelmeleady7303

First tip. Get rid of those skinny stock tires and buy the aftermarket street tires. Then, replace that narrow handlebar with a wider mountain bike carbon fiber bar. Makes all the difference in the world
@Patiboke
@Patiboke 3 года назад
Got this escooter a few weeks ago. All the bolts are tight but the stem is a big dissapointment. Feels like rubber! I'm scared of hanging on to it, I always shift my weight to accelerate or brake so I don't lean into the handlebars. I would make a sturdy one but that means rewiring the whole thing!
@DanceySteveYNWA
@DanceySteveYNWA 3 года назад
Get the rugged clamp upgrade. The larger bracket stops this exaggerated stem wobble on acceleration. Why its not standard is beyond me.

well done on the video!! ive got a machine fox dual 1200w scoot that seemingly randomly develops insane wobbles... caused a few broken bones and im not sure why it happens... ive just wound up the shocks but haven't taken it back out yet... any suggestions appreciated!!!
@MarksElectricLife
@MarksElectricLife 3 года назад
Hi MC, I don't really know much about the Machine Fox but its design looks similar to the Zero 10X. I guess you have done the obvious thing and checked that all the bolts are nice and tight. The only other thing that comes to mind is perhaps you have a badly unbalanced wheel. Usually that shows up at certain speeds. Have you noticed it happening at the same speed everytime ?
@Madchuck42
@Madchuck42 3 года назад
@@MarksElectricLife cheers for the reply... I've noticed it at mid speeds,30ish km/h. Done 150km now and it's happened 4 times, all at different places/terrain... It's what brought me to your video!! Bolts are all tight, almost no stem play... Once I'm healed up I'll be back it to test the tightened shocks...

I've got my Zero10x with ZOOM front brakes hardly doing any job. Service technician at the dealer bled them and they were fine for couple weeks. Then stopped doing any braking... Went back to the dealer, got fixed them again. Unfortunately they did not last long. I was informed that next time I will be charged for the service plus the dealer is quite far from the place I live. So there is a dilemma... should I get bleed set from Amazon or maybe whole new braking set. What is your thought on that?
@MarksElectricLife
@MarksElectricLife 3 года назад
Hi KT, your situation sounds familiar to me. When my scooter was new it had spongy brakes and I was advised by the seller to take it to a bicycle shop and ask them to do a bleed. However the bicycle shop didn't have the right fittings for Zoom brakes (these are very different to the common bicycle brands like Shimano and Nutt). So all they could do was open up the master reservoir, top up the oil and pump the brake lever a few times. This did improve the braking but it didn't last very long. After a week or two they were as bad as before. So the first thing I would do is ask the dealer whether they actually bled your brakes or just topped them up. If they only topped them up then I would definately suggest buying the bleed kit and doing it properly yourself. If they actually bled the whole system and it still isn't working then you will need to buy a new brake set. Good luck ! Mark.

If a bolt is done up correctly, it should never come loose. If it vibrates loose, then it was never done up properly in the first place. (Or it is the wrong type of bolt for the job)

Hi, please, what is your experience with this A5 front suspension? is the 125mm model? Is the front of the scooter not too low?
@MarksElectricLife
@MarksElectricLife 2 года назад
Hi Eduardo, not sure what you mean by A5 suspension. The wheel diameter is 10 inches and the suspension is designed to allow enough travel for the 10 inch wheels. I have had no problems with it so I assume the design is fit for purpose.
