*** VIBRATION UPDATE *** The new gibmal firmware update v1.78 fixed the vibration problem in 9 out of 10 situations, so I am keeping the gimbal. It's not 100% perfect yet, but getting there. And the majority of other users are saying that their vibration problems are solved. Wuhuu :) Will make a new review after using it for a few weeks/months.
You might want to add lens support as well. It might not be visually visible, but there might be tiny movement and that might tell the sensitive gyro sensor that something is moving and it will try to compensate. If the angle does make a difference in underslung mode, then there might be a slack as well in the bottom arm. So I feel it might be a design issue... But maybe they can fix most of it with some kind of filter that allow to not react to these small actions. But this might remove some future posibility... Anyway I ordered mine anyway.

I am using thwe Crane 3S with the Z Cam E2, 5200mAh NP-F battery, and DZOFilm 20-70 cinema lens, with both focus and zoom motors. It works beautifully with my setup.
@@tomstrojnik It doesn't take much past medium to power it, which may be why it is fine. The lens is really heavy, but I think the whole setup is about 5 lbs.
@@tomstrojnik Did you weigh it? I don't recall from the video. I just checked mine, and it's actually 6lbs 5oz. Still quite light. It works on medium as I recall.
Nice video Tom with great production value. Mine has the same issues and I fear it's not a firmware thing. Try shaking it and see if the horizon goes crooked.

Dude, this is an old issue and has been discussed a mio times by now. You need the PowerPlus Battery Unit to handle a payload of 6 kg and more. Ur research is sloppy.

I appreciate your review my friend. I've watched it a few times before I picked up the gimbal, now, I've balanced it perfectly and updated the firmware but I CANNOT for the life of my replicate your running with the dog without vibration. I continually get stabilized footage that looks like it's bouncing up and down, but standard ninja walk shots indoors seem fine. Very frustrated here. Sony a6400 with 16-35GM on the "low" motor setting.
When running after the dog I was holding the gimbal for the tripod extension and not the handle.. maybe try that? btw an updated review of Zhiyun Crane 3s is coming soon, I've already recorded it.. I've used it on a lot cool outdoor adventure projects and overall it performed well
Hi Tom, can you check if it makes any difference if you change the "scene modes" in the app? I got my Crane 3S some days ago, got it to work properly with the EOS R + Cage + Atomos Ninja V attached. But for some shots I prefer to move the gimbal slower. I found out that these settings are hidden in the phone app. But they do not have an effect on how my gimbal actually moves, it's always the same smoothness and speed. Even if I use the different presets "Gimbal", "Run" or "Sport" the camera moves with the same speed. The only settings that have an effect are deadband and control speed (for the sensitivity of the joystick). I am trying to find out if this problem is specific to my gimbal or if it is a general problem with the Crane 3S

Same issues here Tom but you managed to get some great shots with your gimbal. It seemed to work pretty ok (with less vibration) on my FS5 Mk2 everytime i switch but with the bmpcc 4k it is a night mare. Yes the motors are not consistent which is so sad because this is a really great tool if it works. The store I bought from says a new firmware comes out in a month but am scared to get stuck with it as I have had it for almost 30days now. Anyway lovely channel bro, am definitely on board. Ill be watching.

I tried mine (v 1.78 on 3/15/2021) with my C200 with CNE 18-80mm. It did NOT work! The gimbal could not hold the weight of the camera and lens. I stripped my C200 down to only the cage and lens....no go. Sooooo.....I use it with my 1Dx Mk II with the Polar Pro Matte box and it seems to work. But.....I did find that it would shake with the L 24-70mm lens. It seemed to have problems with a lens that changes length. Fixed length lenses seem to work fine.
@@tomstrojnik - Well, the CNE 18-80mm is a little heavy. But, the 1Dx works fine so I’m keeping the Crane 3 - LOL! Have a Ronin S too. The only rig it doesn’t have problems with is my BMPC4K. I do use the Zhiyun Transmount Transmitter on it and it works fine.
Yes the test broll is in RAW 4k 25fps. I graded the footage in Resolve. Yes, Zhiyun has stronger motors than Ronin M. However Ronin M is an excellent gimbal that's great to use for lighter camera setups.
Awesome video! I just got mine and had problems with it holding its motor strength and just completely shutting off in situations where there is more weight on the motors. For reference, I was using a Sony a7iii on medium-low motor strength. Have you ever experienced this with the old and/or new updates?
Thanks. I've experienced vibrations with the v1.77 firmware. The new firmware update v1.78 solved most of the vibrations, I've updated my gimbal two days ago
To be honest, this motor strength problem I also have with my DJI Ronin 1, I was so mad about this problem ... but I guess its a cinema cam on cheap gimbal problem ...
Hey Tom i owned 2 copies of the crane 3s both with the same issues you are experiencing, heavy vibrations on ultra and high. also first copy of the gimbal wouldnt balance the roll axis properly

Thank you for the video and update Tom. I have seen other videos covering this gimbal - with some people saying that the Crane 3S can start to feel heavy, when using it for a time, and there are videos popping up on RU-vid, showing the Zhiyun range of gimbals - mounted to manual stabalizers and also to steadi-cam vest systems - to create additional cinematic-like action shots , but I am concerned that the 1/4 inch screw fixing - at the base of the gimbal hand grip - may not be strong enough to cope with the downwards forces, when connected to stabalisers and operating the gimbal horizontally.......if the screw were to fail, then gimbal and camera, may part company with the steadi-cam stabaliser system..!
Whatever gimbal with big cinema camera setup you use it will start to feel heavy fast :D but yes Zhiyuns handle design has pros and cons. It probably wears you down faster, because the gimbal is further away from the center of your body than with other gimbals. Regarding the 1/4 inch screw.. yeah I agree, let's see what happens!
Not enough voltage from your batteries to your motors with the heavier load. Motors are surpassing their holding power with your current set up. More voltage... more holding power.
Hello Tom, I have had the crane 3s in combination with the fx6 for 1 week. In principle, I am relatively satisfied with the performance, but the one swivel axis is very, very difficult to move (the one with the extension piece). the other 2 are normal. i think this is a processing error or what do you mean? i just got the same gymbal from zhiyun. and i have experienced the same shake when the weight is mainly hanging on the center motor. i hope they will correct it in the future too.

I actually sold it and got the RS2 and Canon C70 (should arrive next week). Crane 3s is good, but a little to big for hiking with it in the mountains :) P.S. Fx6 is an amazing camera, I've had the opportunity to test it out on a recent project. But all my lenses are Canon, so I'm sticking with team Canon :)
Tom Strojnik THE PANORAMA AXIS IS STRONGLY PARALLEL TO THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT, AFTER HOW DO YOU CLICK THE RESET BUTTON? I just talked with the seller, he said that he took another Crane 3S, after calibrating it, the same problem arose as mine.
Well the BTS of this review was shot with the Ronin S and Canon R, so what do you think? :D I will probably do a comparison video, but I need to use the Crane for a while first, to really get to know it. In theory Crane 3S should be better, because of the extended plate design and heavier payload.. Canon C200 mounted on a Ronin S is not an ideal solution :)

@@valeproduction6296 I've used Ronin S till now as well. Awesome gimbal for mirorless cameras. But it's not made for heavier setups like Canon C200.. also the viewfinder is hitting the gimbal.
Well you can tell who got a free one and who didn't by the reviews. The people that got free ones or their video sponsored had no problems of course. I sent it back. It's broken and everyone not sending them back and looking for work arounds isn't helping. You'll just wait out the return date and be stuck. The horizon is off in most of your footage so add that to the list. This is what their support said: For vibration or wobble issue, it can cause by follow points: 1. Not mount and balance camera kits well. Suggest use two screws to tighten cinema camera. Must be manual-balance camera kit before starting.see video:lightollector.zhiyun-tech.com/activity?id=381 2. Without using lens support for fix lens. this is must, specially with big or heavier lens. 3. Motor force is very important. Mirrorless and DSLR camera with light weight or small size, motor force suggest to using low or medium; with heavier weight or big size cinema camera, suggest to using high or utra-high.
6:35 - check top left corner, I purchased mine. And even if/when I do a sponsored video, it will always be an honest review. I don't want to return it because I like the product, and I've been in touch with the support. If the update doesn't solve the problem, I can return it. 1. Yes I did that 2. The same day when I filmed the test footage, I tried it with the lens support at home and it didn't solve the problem 3. Yes with low or medium and with Canon R mounted - I had no problems. For C200 whatever strength I choose I had occasional problems Good luck with your next purchase :)
