Friends and family often turn to me for tips, advice or just general knowledge about saving money, shopping, home design, crafting, sewing and life hacks. So I thought I'd see if others would like to share my knowledge.
I've had a lifetime of trying to lose weight. I come from a very big family, four sisters and one brother, and my husband is one of ten! So if I don't know the answer I will probably know someone who does!
Ta dearheart, for making me smile. I was once caring for my husband with MND, now I’m alone, life is different now, but having been with you all day, I’m subscribed to a bit of chat, fun and news about what to wear 😂, love from New Forest x
hi from New Forest, sooooooo enjoyed finding you quite by accident. Now spent all blooming day watching, laughing and learning, who knew for example that I never need femfresh wipes ever again, or that there are stores other than M/S who do size 16/18. Or I might need Magnesium! We must be near neighbours too. Just subscribed, thank you Helen. I too had my Mum until recently, and I’m a tad older than you! I’ll enjoy popping in to see you to check what I can wear! X
I enjoy your blog Helen. I can really relate to you. I’m surprised that your Mom is 93. She looks amazing, you have great genes. As far as confidence goes just fake it till you make it. You look like you’re confident so don’t worry about it.
Just thinking about your comment about silverfish and insects in the house, alongside good customer service in stores… We went to Costa yesterday for a coffee and as we were waiting in the queue we noticed about half a dozen fruit flies flying about and landing on the cakes, cookies etc. The unit these were displayed in had glass on 3 sides but was open at the back, presumably for ease of access for the staff serving. We drew it to the attention of a member of staff who looked at the situation and just said ‘there’s not much we can do about it…’ 😮🤢 We left and went elsewhere!
I don't know how anyone can make rude comments about you Helen as you're so lovely. I love your videos and despite obviously leading a lovely privileged life you are also kind and down to earth. Keep doing what you do😊
My husband always always gets bitten by bugs, very often at night , ( I can’t sleep without the window being open), so he blames me 😂 I don’t get bitten. I’ve ordered the insect bite cream, so fingers crossed this works, and he stops complaining at me!
I love the way you simply, but thoroughly, go through your recommendations. You are sooooo good at this, Helen! I'm so bloody fussy at what I watch, but you ALWAYS give me really useful ideas - and help with my own inspirations. If I was well (I've got quite severe me/cfs), I'd love to do what you're doing! In the meantime, thanks so much for your useful, very comforting videos. This is a lovely safe space for so many of us. That colour looks beautiful on you ❤
If it’s a dress you’re wearing in this video ( just started watching) I think this would be lovely for the white night. If it’s a blouse then pair with great white pants 🎉👍 ps - loved the last dress too from next 😘
Can I start by saying I love your videos ,however I have to disagree with you about the customer service in space nk , you can’t expect an assistant to know to know everything about every product in the store would you rather have had the assistant make something up or at least try to help even if it was by reading the packaging
I can agree with you to a certain extent, but she literally just glanced and said "I think it's thinner". I would have thought she would have known the difference between a BB and a CC cream, which is much the same across all brands. But I take your comment on board. Thanks for watching xx
Have just looked online &, interestingly, the first listed ingredient in both Blastoestimulina and Erborian cream is Centella Asiatica. Apparently it has an anti microbial healing property. Love your videos btw! Always disappointed when I log on and there isn’t a new one!
Hi Helen! I always look forward to your videos. Thank you for working so hard to deliver them to us all. I have just ordered your bag! Looking forward to using it! Take care 😊
Diatomaceous Earth is a great product and so cheap. It gets rid of many types of insect. You can buy a Food Grade version. I bought a "puffer" and puff it into dark places like the back of the airing cupboard floor and along the top of the kitchen units where they meet the wall. In countless corners and even just where the carpet meets the wall. You don't need much. It kills insects because the shards are so minuscule and so sharp that it punctures them if they walk through it. You don't want to be hoovering loads of it up, because it can bugger your vacuum cleaner up - just research that online. It's used a lot by people who keep poultry, you paint a slurry on the hen house interior, you can even use it on their feathers, I believe. So it's safe, just not for insects! Many people just call it Diatom. Side note I take half a Phenergan (Clinical name Promethazine) tablet to help with sleep - same thing, an anti histamine. I'm sure you can substitute another non/lesser branded anti-histamine that's cheaper, and they're non-addictive, unlike many sleeping tablets.
Helen this was a very informative video, such cool things, i use a deodorant from walmart that is pricey but works great too. I would be interested in the mosquito ointment i doubt they have it here in Canada my husband suffers from bites quite badly, they don't affect me at all i think cause i am a redhead my blood is different, not sure. My granddaughter is visiting and she has quite a few bad ones, i have been putting vinegar on them to stop the itch, my mom did that, but would love to find something that works. I have an acquaintance who uses Korea skincare all the time, we looks younger than anyone else and swears by them. I swear by my castor oil which i use all over my body and also for pain. I do the same with my candles and clean out the jars and they are handy to store things like cotton balls etc. Bath and Body Works has lovely prints on their candles so i love to keep some of them.
I took a deep breath and ordered the white muslin type cotton dress with the pleats round the waistline. It looked so slimming on you and was a bit different. It arrived today and I love it but would never have ordered it if I hadn't seen it on you. I have also ordered the Next cotton slips which I'm hoping will be a nice change from Marks slips. All thanks to you.
You could melt the left over wax and pore in to a smaller container, especially if you love the fragrance. I loved Dunnes store when I visited Dublin, some lovely things to buy . Look forward to seeing your mum soon X
Morning, another great video thank you. Just an idea - instead of throwing away any unused wax from your candles (part burnt taper or the unburned bit at the bottom of your jar) why don't you use as a fire starter if you have a wood burner / fire? I save all mine and give them to friend as she has a log burner. If the candle is scented you also get a nice smell too. x
Aww sorry to hear your lovely mum has been poorly 😢 but glad she’s on the mend ❤️🩹 wish her well from me 😊 my sister lives on the Island near Sandown xx
Hi Helen, a very interesting video, you put so much effort into each one! And work so hard (,you make it look so easy). Looking forward to the next one. 💕
Hi Helen another great video 😊 I have followed you from the very start and your doing amazing so thank you 🙏 we are the same age 😅 and I find you very inspiring 😊 our difference is I lost my lovely hubby 3 years ago last week 😢 but watching you makes me want to go on with my life so thank you again 🙏 take care xxxxx
Thank you very much. I'm so sorry for the loss of your husband. It takes time to recover from such a huge loss. If my videos help in any way, then I am humbled by that, thank you xx
There used to be a Dunnes store in Southampton, not sure if it is still there. It was in an enclosed shopping centre up by the civic offices. Maybe it went when they built West Quay, do you remember it?
Hi Helen, the blue dress looks amazing on you. I buy those magnesium tablets from Amazon as you recommended them to me still have a little trouble with my IBS but it has greatly improved so thank you for that. I take antihistamine tablets every night at the advice of my doctor so I never get bitten now. The wild deodorant I started using when it first came out but it brought me out in a rash so gave it to my daughter and she found the same thing so I haven’t tried it again. So glad your mum is getting better.❤️❤️❤️
That blue really does suit you ❤ I have been usind Wild deodrant for some months now and love it, I think I saw it on one of your videos. Going to try the magnesium and the CC cream as I feel they both will be of benefit to me. Hope mum feels better soon ❤❤
I also felt the white dolman sleeve was lovely on you, Felt like the fit was appropriate for that style, like it was mentioned a dart would take care of the access. I also did not feel the T-shirt under the denim dress was a compromise at all! With the fringed thread around sleeves, it was very complimentary and looked great for your next family camping holiday.
