On October 1, 2019, Ali's husband suffered a stroke. His vision was affected for 5 months. He couldn’t drive or work after the stroke and it inspired Ali to turn to food to help in his healing. Ali also lost her father unexpectedly to a heart attack when he was just 55 years old, and she was determined to make any changes necessary to prevent another life-altering event.
She dived into the research and found many answers to prevention and long-term health through a plant-based approach. Through trial and error she switched her family of 8 (that's right-6 kids, including twin boys) to a plant-based diet and now is determined to inspire and help others do the same, and to help the process run more smoothly. On this channel Ali shares some of her favorite vegan recipes. She believes in progress over perfection, and loves living a 90/10 plant-based life. Because, let's be honest-it's a lot easier raising 6 kids on a plant-based diet when there is flexibility!
Would you please add how many ounces are in your cans of jackfruit? I buy it in really big cans and need to know how much of it to use. Thanks for the recipes! I'm excited to try them!
I watched your RU-vid video. Your every video is really awesome. But your channel and your videos expect more views and subs. I analyzed Your RU-vid channel and I found RU-vid video SEO is not done. This is why your video is not going viral and views are not increasing.
May i ask the model of that box that cut the onion? I'm looking for one like this. Does it work nice? As an italian, I would add cappers to the orzo pasta :) seems very good!
Love the sloppy joes! I needed to cook the lentils in the insta pot for closer to 20 minutes under high pressure instead of the 12. Other than that it was amazing and healthy! Thanks again!
I just tried the peach cobbler. It's alright. I do like that it is packed with fiber and protein. I'm not vegan yet, but I'm exploring recipes. It is my goal to one day be fully vegan, but I know it's going to take some time.
I don’t like cashews. Do you have to put nuts in it? Do you have to use the maple syrup in there and applesauce in the wheat rolls? I don’t like sweet, hot rolls, and a lot of the restaurants have started adding a lot of sugar to their hot rolls and they are awful to me. Thank you.
I bought some Better Than Bouillon veggie paste yesterday, and you're so right about it! I made some delicious pasta soup with some odds and ends and it was YUM! I also added Italian seasoning, which I noticed you use a lot. I'm making your Caprese sandwich on Friday to include in a concert picnic under the stars. I'm returning to a WFPB after some time off from healthy eating, and your videos have been an enormous motivation! THANKS! ❤❤❤
In the rare instance someone has night shade allergies and can't have tapioca, experimenting with psyllium husks powder can get the same melty feature. It'll be a softer cheese, and the color may be off putting to some, but I just like to share that as an option. Having a milk and night shade allergies make finding or making alternatives very difficult.
Crockpot meals "can be a busy mom's saving grace." Many dads cook and share childrearing responsibilities. So, crockpots can be a busy dad's saving grace, too.
TOFU BUD for the win!!! Here's my secret (if you want a more "meaty" texture). 1. Press the tofu on setting 1 for at least 60 minutes. Then drain the water 2. Press the tofu on setting 2 for at least 30 minutes. Then drain the water 3. Place the tofu in a prep container with a paper towel bottom. 3a. I'd recommend changing the paper towel every 12-18 hours 4. Let the tofu sit in the fridge for 48-86 hours. The longer it's in the fridge the more it dries out. This is a good thing. 5. Once you take it out and cut it up it seems to soak up any marinade better because it's so dry AND it seems to have a much better "meaty" texture because it's dry. I'm telling you. You're going to love it. - Aaron and Claire
I like to buy the broken cashews from my local Co-op's bulk food section; why buy whole just to break them up? Why doesn't this channel have more followers? I love these videos; she gets to the point and doesn't blah, blah and waste my time.
You are a great mom. The kind of mom I would want because of the healthy meals you cook. Your kids look healthy. I loved how you used a veggie chopper. I thought that was endearing and I subscribed!! Great channel!
Thank you! I think all mom's need to hear that often. Mom life is not easy, so thank you for your kind words. I am so glad you subscribed! You will love this community!
When cooking in large amounts it is cheaper to buy your spices in bulk. When I say bulk i mean by the 1, 2 or 3 lb. Not over 3lb. Amazon sells Frontier spices in bulk 1lb bags. This is a must for onion and garlic powder, tomato powder(when you dont want to open a can to add to ipot beans). Any spice you use to make a recipe 3 or more times a month, then its worth it. I actually keep my pasta sauce jars with a spoon and refill them instead of trying to refill those tiny spice jars. Try it! Life changing:)
Omg...no. You don't wash your lentils?! Just straight out if the bag - filth, dust, stones, bad ones all together? ::gag:: PLEASE rinse and puck through grains, beans, and legumes when dry. That's just nasty, honestly.
She did wash them. Listen again. She said ‘rinsed’ small red beans. Rinsed means already washed in water. She didn’t wash the lentils, true, because sometimes in some shops they sell lentils that have already been pre-washed in the factory just like salads in supermarkets here, although, I always wash them a second time just to be sure they are clean.
Please wash any dried lentils, look at the water, it's filthy, you 100% have to wash them. It's so disgusting, I can't keep watching. It's making me feel.sick.
Excellent ! Another fast hack: if you make some recipes often, prep your spices in advance and keep them in labeled smaller jars or baggies. It will be that much faster. And Dillon, from Well Your World, has taught us to skip the sauteing phase of the Instant pot and just dump and go and that is what I do now. Good video. I always look forward to your recipes. Thank you for sharing.
I'm not sure about using lentils in the form of sloppy joes or any sort of meat substitute. Using beans as a meat substitute always seems to fall flat. I'd recommend using seitan instead.
@@edyann oh no! Someone with an opinion different than mine that I can't actually refute! I'm going to call them a negative person, and leave it at that.
Although the lasagna soup looks mighty tasty to me that would be a little too much sodium that's over 12,000 mg do the math especially on the better than bouillon
