I have a great passion for minimalism, a balanced lifestyle, and deep human connections. In 2020 I decided to bring this passion alive, and Sunny Kind Journey was born.

I agree with everything. However, I love music in the same way that you love sports so the only money that I spend in a collecion is my vynil/cds collection and music concerts. It just that I gave myself a monthly limit of how much I can spend on that 👍🙂
Hi, I would like to recommend not buying a replacement for a thing you lost/ was damaged/ broke, immediately. Sometimes you can actually find out that you didn't need it as you thought. I broke several plates, one pot has been burnt terribly, some clothes were torn, my desk lamp got broken and I didn't replace them straight away. I wanted to check first if I used them because I had them or if I had them because I needed them. In all those situation, several years later, I can say I don't need them. I use other stuff that was already in my house. I like the term "shop in your own house" - big money saver!
From firsthand experience and backed by science, one of the most impactful changes to make in your life today is, as you mention, to achieve a controlled mind by establishing routines when you start and move through your day. This is of great help for conditions such as bipolar disorder and depression, but can benefit anybody in reducing chaotic thinking, forgetfulness, ruminating, and anxiety. Good advice in this video from you overall!
I love your content! I’m so ready to simplify my life and completely see the benefits it could bring for my free time and mental health. I have young children and work outside my home so I’m not progressing to where I would want to be just though lack of time without sacrificing time with them. They don’t understand what I’m doing they just want to play haha but I’ll get there ❤
the social situation applies to everything, quitting smoking/drugs/alcohol, or wanting to live a different life, like eating healthier or sleeping earlier or quitting clubbing or heck, even working or having kids whilst your pals aren't. change in relationships is normal and should not be feared just because of decluttering/minimalism, however as you are doing, should be noted.
Come, visit me in the Philippines and let's talk about this also. Been a minimalist for a decade. Or can I say that I am a minimalist artist or artistically minimalist? Almost everything you speak resonates with me.
I removed about 20 large bags. Now I brought them back to my apartment after a few months, but it's much easier to see that I don't need the things. I just came across your videos this evening; I love your channel and subscribed. Good luck in all things!!!
Thank you for sharing your grandfathers garden. It looks beautiful and both the raspberries and cherries 🍒 look so yummy. I agree with you that everyone’s ’minimalism’ looks different and we need to remember to be true to our personal values and do what is right for us. 💕🇨🇦
I think that minimalism is the wrong name, I think that it should be intentionality. How I chose to live my life is very different to how you chose to live your life but we’re both living our lives intentionally.
I’ve never liked labels. I’ve always leaned towards minimalist lifestyle. But I don’t like to pigeonhole things. One saying I’ve seen, that’s made a big impact on me and I never forgot it, is to live simply so that others can simply live. I don’t like to waste anything I can avoid. And I don’t like consume more than I need.
Yesterday my hubby and I picked cherries and today we made squash of them. Nice to see that you help to garden with your grandpa. Your thoughts are very fresh and relaxed, and that's in line with one good point: to have less stress & overwhelm, and find freedom from the rat race, which comes with consumerism and status-cravings. Thanks for the video and the resources! So great!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts in this video! I found it very inspiring! I continue on my minimalism journey... learning so much about myself along the way. Thanks for letting us join in on your personal journey!👍❤
I can't fathom living in a way that you can only buy the absolute necessities. If you're in a rough spot financially, that's one thing, but I couldn't live like that long term. It must be an absolutely smothering existence.
I completely understand, as also I feel OK with having possessions that bring positivity into my life in a profound way. I call my kind of minimalism "simple living" and I'm not much for rules which make life complicated. But for those who enjoy and need that, I think it is OK, because we are individuals after all. One learns to look at life and oneself more calmly when not being dependent on having the same norms and arrangements as other people. I wouldn't do a smothering existence, either. I love to feel independent, creative, stress-free, healthy, generous, caring, mostly glad, and content with much less than what is needed to "keep up appearances". Sometimes I'm inspired by Blue Zones, or my older relatives and their DIY ways of organizing life, sometimes by vegans and people homesteading, sometimes by frugal or minimalist RU-vidrs. How do you yourself fathom a decent, good life long term?
Smothering! Not at all! It is liberating. And life feels much lighter, easier, and simpler. Not for everyone, I know, of course. I’m 69 and trying now to have only the essentials. I would like to be an extreme minimalist but not quite ready for that! 😊
I am a minimalist and yet I know no one in my personal life who is too. I have my mindset and they have theirs. I don't care if they understand or approve of my way of life. It is my life and I live by my values. I don't judge them and really don't care if they judge me. I feel I am helping the planet by living intentionally and not contributing to waste. The way I live makes me happy and feels purposeful.
I realize that it's still winter in Finland, but seeing you in a wool sweater in the middle of July gives me the heebie jeebies. Nevertheless, I will say that you look like a very normal ordinary person, but we all know that you possess the superpower of minimalism. Thank you for using your superpower for good, and sharing your insights to help others. And thanks to you and your grandfather for allow us to appreciate the beauty of a Finnish raspberry garden. Oh, and please give my best to your uncle, Mr. Pascal.
LOVE your content. I'm turning 39 this year and I'm so over clutter in my life physically, digitally, socially, etc. I've been editing down my possessions, my digital footprint, my schedule, work hours, social commitments, even friendships that havent resulted in mutual respect and authenticity.
I created a new email address for important contacts. My original email address was so flooded with junk that it became a pain in the neck instead of a useful tool. I check the original address about once a month to ensure important contacts aren’t still using it. Then I delete all the messages. Hopefully, I can ditch that address by the end of the year. Also, I removed all apps that I don’t use regularly from my home screen.
I graduated my mechanical engineering in 2006 and kept all my books, documents related to my studies, every calculation, every drawing and exam, etc. in the basement. It filled two large shelves. Only last year did I manage to emotionally separate myself from them and throw them away (but not the books), as I know that as an educator I'll never look at technical documents on mechanical engineering again😊. It was a sad separation somehow, as I prefer paper and pens above all other things. I just like paper and pens so much. It was funny too, as I looked through some of the documents, memories came flooding back. Few of my professors passed away. One of them was my favorite professor in chemistry and physics. I asked myself how I managed to go through this jungle of numbers, symbols, lines and equations for 5 years😅. When I read my thesis on sensors, I felt "dizzy". So many complicated calculations and experiments. However, it was still liberating, this separation. Over time, I notice that I quickly become overwhelmed when I stand in front of a full wardrobe or in front of the pile of shoes (even though I'm not a shopping queen - i hate shopping 😅) and things... It tires me out very quickly and makes me nervous, so I keep getting rid of things that are overwhelming me. And I feel good. Thanks Seve for your work and share. I really like to listen to you 🍀. Love from Germany 😊
Moi Seve! Terveisia Kreikasta! Puoli Suomalainen, puoli Kreikalainen! So happy to find a Finnish channel, speaking English!! I am a scandi minimalist living in a maximalist country...quite an opposite!! Thanks for sharing! Heido!!
I love the 6. consume minimalist content.... because that´s so true - and it's more approachable than the advice "hang around with likeminded ppl" ...unfortunately I don´t have likeminded people around me, so as you say...it really helps me to consume that content, to stay inspired and motivated. Thank you so much for bringing this up:) much love 🧡
😅I had my first smartphone 6 years ago and my Facebook account 4 years ago, while my friends in Vietnam have had smartphones and Facebook accounts for over 15 years 😅. I don't think I've missed much. I hardly spend my time on Facebook. Most of my time on social media is spent on RU-vid because I'm a very curious person who watches and listens to a lot of documentaries, news etc. including your videos😊. I prefer to be in nature and admire the many wonders around me. That relaxes me, especially after working days full of the liveliness of my little students 😁
Very interesting list, some things on it that I hadn’t thought about and will now consider. I disagree about tablets, when my current laptop needs replacing, I’ll probably not replace it and just have a tablet. I also replace my phone, etc when they stop getting software and security updates. Last year, I bought a Google Pixel 8 because of the promise of 7 years of updates. Also, I’ll consider replacing my phone if/when the battery stops lasting from, say, 8 am to 8-9 pm. I’ll look at the cost of replacing the battery versus a new phone and decide on what’s the best approach.
I like your approach to things! The tablet is something I may reconsider in a few years but since my laptop works just fine, it would be another new device I don't necessarily need. Kind of like the smart watches 😄 Thanks for the comment!
