My name is Joe. I live in the upper peninsula of Michigan. I love cars, trucks and all things automotive. I like to share tips and tricks, pontificate about cars and drive just about anything I can get my hands on. I wasn't born in the wrong generation I was born to keep the old one alive! Let's drive!

Have a 99 Tacoma, owned it for 20 years, great truck, but can’t argue a single thing that was just said, everything is accurate- frames rot, parts are expensive (have to use oem if you want to maintain reliability), way, way overpriced, in the northwest they routinely get in the high teens for trucks with 150k miles. It’s pretty stupid what people pay. That said, mines been pushed very hard, and regardless of mileage or abuse, it’s like a Timex, takes a licking and keeps on ticking. I’ll also argue, reliability wise and build quality wise, there’s no comparison between a Ford or Chevy and a Toyota. If you’ve got rear ends and transmissions failing, you’re asking too much of the truck. You don’t buy one to tow, or for fuel economy. You buy one because every time you turn the key it starts
@@junkyardjoe1994 had one back in the '70 s it was hard to start so my dad found an 8 volt battery for it and it started great and didn't damage the starter.Tha lights were better also
@eagletek1 I used a Powermaster 255-9100 starter. There's cheaper options and there's more expensive. This was about 130 online. Has been working great though
The Tacoma is one of the best trucks ever for the bang of the buck NEW... I personally would never buy a used one, but back in the day, they were worth very penny.
Yeah, sorry this from General Motors. We don’t need to spark plugs per cylinder to make power power thank you. You Ford and Dodge guys can stick to your spark plug eight cylinders. Because you can’t clear the cylinders of unburnt fuel with one spark plug you have to use two. Sounds like there’s more unofficial areas in that engine that need work. Otherwise always stay thirsty for knowledge. I wonder why that spark plugs there anyway oh, it’s to clean the cylinder out of any unburnt fuels that didn’t get burnt during the combustion stroke. So it’s a very efficient motor and burning fuel for that second spark plug just in case you didn’t know.
I used to buy junk cars for scrap or restoration and I have seen trucks and cars that have a tree 2 feet across growing inside of them I try to buy them but they say I am just about ready to restore it lol.
I was told to replace this part on my k1500 90 I’m only getting 1st and 2nd gear automatic transmission any advice or help you can lead me before having to replace transmission
You might try replacing the solenoids first. However they're usually fail because they get packed with clutch material. They can be had relatively cheap though so I might try it.
