On the design labeled "My Design + Cat/Maxx Air" that appear to use 8 filters and achieve the highest CFMs by far, are those 8 filters 1" filters or 2"filters?
Kind of a bummer to find out the kit I bought specifically to use as a push configuration to reduce the spread of dust and mold in my space CANNOT be used in push configuration.
If you can then try BLDC high rpm fan with contra rotating blade . But im thinking 🤔 fan blade airodynamics are not capable , you need less blade and more thust

I’ve got a bunch of 1” filters. Would stacking the 1” filters help any or would you recommend just using a single 1” filter and replace them when needed?
My Model-B Carbon came in today, it was easy and quick to assemble and it's quieter than the cardboard monstrosity I taped together waiting for this to arrive. If you get the refillable carbon and the plus model fan for the wifi control don't put the three filters on first or you'll have to tweak the fitment.
I’m trying the Catepillar fan version. Question about another subject: disregarding these particular fan types aside, do you have any thoughts or research on impeller type-fans? My understanding was the impeller fans move a lot of air without encountering as much resistance as these types of fans. Correct me if I’m wrong.
It's a real bummer how all of this is SO SO USA centric, I can barely make or do anything with all of this knowledge.. Furnace Filters are hard to find and seem to cost double of the US. None of the fan options are available in Europe (no CAT 14 inch, no maxx Air, no typical box fans, no AC infinity S12 or S14). I can only find cheaper floor fans, or very expensive industrial ones that are probably super loud. Also a toon of 20 or 24 inch fans that are enormous and don't fit an affordable filters. Shipping from your etsy shop to europe is crazy expensive, and you don't share any of the 3D files to print yourself....

Do the pc fan CR box filters really push the same CFM at a fraction of the energy consumption of a box fan CR filter? Some clean air kits claim 7-10 watts!! That would make it over 10x more efficient than the air king box fan on its lowest setting!! 😮 Definitely something I want to consider, since it’s much quieter at almost the same claimed given CFM, if that were true.
Right now I am incredibly frustrated. Have the model B with a 14 inch diameter hole. Ordered the the AC Infinity Cloudlift AS14 and surprise the fan is 16 inches in diameter and doesn't even come close to fitting the14 inch diameter hole.
Sorry about this issue! The default Cloudlift design is for a 12" S12 fan. The number in the name of the fan indicates the size of the fan blades, not the hole for the fan. I do have an option for the 14" Cloudlift S14 but, as you noticed, the hole has to be larger. Please contact me through Etsy so we can figure out what happened with your order.
@@The3DHandyman Ordered the model B that fit the 16 by 30 inch filter. The top has a 14 inch hole. So far so good. So using my apparently flawed logic I ordered an Infinity model S14 which to me would logically be 14 inches in diameter and fit the 14 inch hole. The model S14 is actually 16 inches in diameter to my surprise. Would not think there is any thing you could do except perhaps state don't order the S14 model.
@@ArnieD17 That's right, the diameter of the S12 is 14in. The S14 at 16in wide is to large for kits that have filters smaller than 20in wide. The S14 is an option for the kit. In the Etsy description it has all those details but I think you have to click 2 buttons to actually view the description. Etsy seems to hide it for some reason. I want to get a website set up where I can make this sort of thing more clear but haven't made it that far yet. Hopefully you can return the S14 for an S12. They seem to be back in stock this week. They have been a bit scarce since I launched this video.

These are really well produced videos. You have given me some ideas for dust control during a home remodel. I look forward to future postings. By the way, this is the only channel for which I have turned on the alert bell.
So glad I found your videos! I’m wondering if you’ve ever thought about adapting your system to a mini split filtration system. I think Jay Bates has done a few videos on this topic. Also could be worth exploring using a quad filter with a mini split to see if it filters the air enough to still use the factory filter in the mini split. Mini splits are becoming popular in workshops and garages, so I think a product aimed at mini splits could be popular.
Great job on the video a few years ago I had to paint a small 25 x 25 9 foot ceiling classroom with red paint and I did my best to mask off but I decided to take a 20 inch box fan and I had a 20 x 20 filter and I taped it on the back and was quite amazed at how much Particulate that picked up just by itself I loved your design work
This is an impressive amount of designing and testing, thank you. Although I am getting a bit confused as to which would be applicable for a residential / bedroom situation, given that you discuss industrial situations throughout the video. Could anyone that has a bit of a better overview indicate to me which kit would be best for smaller residential rooms? Thanks in advance!
If the top and bottom were 3 pieces maybe 1.5” then ?12?” then 1.5” the 2 “side filters” could be removed and the whole thing stored on the wall at maybe 5-6” thick. Also do you sell multiple fans tops that fit your 20x30 The CAT would work well in the garage but with kitchen filters and fan it would work quieter for sour dough bread flour.
You truly are a man of the people. Kudos to you for sharing the science of air filtration from knowing the filtration rate, the static pressure, and understanding CADR, and not only explaining and demonstrating has got me wanting to know more. I notice I'm not the first 300 comments on this video but I figured I would comment anyway as I believe you doing a giveaway is so wholesome. I look forward to buying one when I can save up the money. My son is allergic to almost everything and suffers daily from ezcema and allergies. I feel this is the most affordable answer especially the one with the charcoal to filter out the house. Thanks Sir for sharing.
I've been thinking about a better solution for air filtration in my garage when using my laser cutter. Thank you for the research you put into all these different fans and filters. I look forward to future episodes.
I have seen people making one of these “ quad filters” with five filters, adding one at the bottom. I would imagine when used, this is popped up with a few sticks. I wonder if you could try something like that and run the numbers.
Having another panel for the bottom is much better for air flow but also much harder for us because square filters are not popular and cost more and they also usually come in even number packs rather than odd number so you will have left overs.
Why would this even be the case? Who in the right mind would be suspicious of that? Doesn't even sound artificial to begin with. People really be out here squinting at shit trying to make themselves see any of these bullshit tech investment scam "AI" products actually being used in the real world lmao
I've been taping a 20x20 filter to my box fan for years, but after watching the videos I'm going to upgrade to a quad filter configuration. The 12" AC Infinity and 4 16x25 filters seems to be what I'm looking for. Can't wait to put one together.
It's great to see the scientific research and data on this. I always wanted to see this but could never find anything of much significance and didn't have the means to do much significance myself. Finally the void is being filled and it's of major significance and benefit to the world.
