It depends, but the best options are renting a car or Uhaul Truck. Depending on the distance Uhaul trucks are typically the cheapest and are in almost every small town.
Cool adventure. We’ve been on the trails of cour d alene and route of the Hiawatha. We love that area. Is the Olympian trail just on the east side of the Taft tunnel?
Awesome video! U have inspired me to put together a similar route! I had a question tho, and wasn’t finding the answers on google…were u able to leave ur vehicle at lake James marina? If so, was there a fee? Thanks so much!
That's awesome we have helped with some inspiration! We left our RV at the lake James Camping Resort & Marina campground and paid for the site the entire time. There is also a Marina with no campground which you may be referring to, not sure if they will let you leave a vehicle there. Give them a call. I hope this helps. It's a fantastic route, happy trails!
I'm an MTB'er however bikepacking looks incredibly appealing!! I have an idea to do a weekend tour to my old neighborhood, spend a day or two there then go home the way I came. it could happen =)
MTB is our passion, just like you. Defiantly should really give it a go! We got hooked right away with bikepacking/bicycle touring. You will love it! Happy Trails.
Singletrack Samurai group events are really good for newbie riders just getting into bikepacking, you can lean a lot from everyone. The prerequisite is to be able to ride up to 80 miles in one day. Most of his tours are around 60 miles or less per day and average 10mph.
I did the entire gulf before heading to the Atlantic side in 2021 then last year left the Atlantic, went midway through Florida back to the Gulf up to the top of Florida into Gulf shore last year.
Dang😊. My old stomping grounds. I'm 74 now living in Lower Michigan. I grew up in The Hurley/ Ironwood area. The Video really took me back. I Spent summer with my grandparents in Montreal. I've Swam in the Gile flowage and Montreal river more times than I can remy. The falls are only a Couple of hundred feet off the Main Street of Gile. Great memories. Thank you so much.😊😊
It's awesome watching our video helped bring back some of your fond memories. Really appreciate you talking about them and makes us really happy. This area of the USA is beautiful!
I have about 2,000 miles on it and so far so good, been really happy with it. The only thing I have had to do was re-tighten the motor mount, which was probably caused by me not tightening it enough the first time.
I am a fabricator and just ordered my 1 up rack today. I already have plans in making my own easy pole ever but was curious if you needed to make the mechanism spring loaded or does it come like that?
What a great video! I almost felt like I was there, except I didn't have wet feet and wasn't frozen when I watched it! Good for you all that did the overnighter!!! Looks like a wonderful adventure for those tough enough to endure. Special kudos to Karlos's kiddo in the piccolo. What a great kid!!
Another great video. Just curious when you go on these trips with gravel bikes and MTB’s together, what size chainring do the MTB’ers usually use (at least here in FL)? I know I can’t keep up using a 30T on long open runs. I know you’re limited by what your frame allows. It always seems like the group sticks together on your videos.
We use 32T front ring and 10-50T cassette and is doable hanging with the gravel bikes on open sections. With the 32T-10T we are good to maintain in the low 20's mph. Most of the time the group is not going that fast and it also does break up into separate smaller groups of people riding at different speeds which re-group thought the day. Karlos does a really good job setting up his events to have fun mid ride spots like restaurants, breweries, springs, other points of interest, etc. which helps keep everyone together. Thanks for the question and hope to see you at one of Karlos's events. Happy Trails!
Yet again, another great video! Like I keep saying I hope to maybe get down to FL one of these years and do one of those groups rides with single track samurai. You look like you always have so much fun and I want in!
Thanks! This is a perfect family adventure trip! We just rode it again last week and will have a new video coming out shortly that shows more detail on some of the sections that are a little more tricky.
I also Love watching the mileage tick over from 99.99 to 100 - sad when I miss it. Great video. Currently too many rides and not enough time. Thanks for filming and sharing! Bourbon 🥃
Love your video journals! What new panniers are you riding with now? Switch from the RD to these because? Thoughts and/or recommendations? Cheers! Bourbon
They are Bedrock Hermosa UL Panniers, and I like them. They are slightly larger than my old V1 Revelate micro panniers which allows me to get rid of the anything cages and fork bags, ultimately simplifying storage and saving weight. I bought these before RD announced their V2, if i had known I might have gotten those instead. Happy Trails!
@@PedalPowerAdventures Thanks so much! I saw the answer much later when I could scroll down the comments. Like your bike bell...any suggestions with that? I have had one but wasn't happy with mine. Thanks again!
What an epic adventure! Thanks for filming, editing, and sharing! It's on my bucket list so I can complete the Samurai Cross!!! Some of the sections brought back memories and smiles from some of Karlos derived bikepacking adventures! Cheers, Bourbon!
I've been a roadie for 25 years, dabbled in a bit of mtb out in AZ with some friends a few times and I really enjoyed it. My current obsession is bike packing. I need to snag a bike first, though. Once I do, Karlos' rides are going to be at the top of my list!
Bikepacking is an excellent obsession to have, it's such an amazing way to see the world. Excited to hear Karlos's rides are on the top of your list, it's a one-of-a-kind experience. Happy Trails!
Does it switch from paved to gravel with no go around? I have a road bicycle and need a full paved surface for the entire ride. I normally do about a 25 mile loop. What is good for that in Citrus County? Are the roads in town and around generally quiet and good for biking>
I'm sure you can make an all pavement loop that generally follows this. I have never researched it though and do not have any idea on car traffic. Sorry!
Karlos is such a genuinely nice guy. I’ve ridden some of his routes as many as three times and each time it’s a new adventure with highs and lows.Through him I’ve been able to discover the real Florida.
Easily some of your best work guys. This was an awesome insight into our fearless leader. Fires me up for the Huracan this weekend! Karlos has certainly changed my whole outlook on cycling, and I've made some pretty awesome friends along the way.
