Are you familiar with the concept of "types"? I'm not sure if Jews study them but basically they are prophetic stories within the narrative of the Bible itself. The easiest one to understand is the imagery found in the binding of Isaac which foreshadows God providing His own Son as the sacrifice (Genesis 22:8). You need to think about the types and imagery in the Book of Esther if you're going to understand what Jesus did and why it does not take from the promises to Israel in the Hebrew Bible. In the beginning of His ministry Jesus told His followers (Jews only) that He had the authority to forgive sins on earth and to prove it He healed a lame man in front of everyone (Matthew 9:1-8). After He had been crucified and resurrected He told His followers that He had been given ALL authority on heaven and earth (Matthew 28:18). This is an important distinction and its biblical prophetic "type" is what happened when Esther married the king. Just like Esther, Jesus was given ultimate power and authority that He did not have before. Just like Esther, Jesus used His new authority to WRITE A NEW LAW that would supplant the Law of Sin and Death that mankind has been under ever since Eve and Adam took of the fruit and were cursed (Genesis 3). Just like Haman, Satan was blindsided (1 Corinthians 2:8, Colossians 2:13-15) that he had been "supplanted" by Jesus the Jew, one of the sons of Jacob (which I'm sure you know means "to supplant"). Jesus created the Law of Spirit of Life in Christ to override the Law of Sin and Death because the weakness of the flesh makes eternal life by the Law of Moses impossible (Romans 8:2-3). I believe your father will live to see elijah come before the great and dreadful day. I'm not sure of the Jewish stories about him . But do the jews really want him to come and eat with them?
