Can you PLEASE NOT SPOIL in the preview of the video I can't believe it got recommanded to me when I'm just about to finish the game The game was out on pc not even a month ago, the least you could do would be not to spoil in the preview and title...
We purposely picked a wide shot to not show what is happening up close. You still have to play the game to know what's happening here. What did we spoil? - Spencer
I loved this game. It was beautifully written and acted. But, man, was that last hour a downer. I understood it thematically, but it's still somewhat disappointing.
As someone who isn't particularly close with their siblings (for various reasons) and yearns for the kind of brotherly bond Clive and Joshua have, this scene (and the ones leading up to it) absolutely WRECKED me. Also, completely agree, Ben Starr's performance was top-tier 👌🏻
Micro-transactions are not targeted to you, they’re targeted to children who don’t know better. This is a weird flex, good for you for having more common sense than a child…
Especially for games that sell you things that you can get for free just for playing. Like if I can earn gems from doing quests or dailies I'm not gonna spend money on gems.
I refuse to ever pay a single dollar in any "free" mobile game. but I will watch an ad if a floating fairy comes flying across the screen and says hey would you like to watch this ad for 500gold/gems nd gives me an option to tell fairy piss off. I will 9/10 times watch that ad for the gold.
DUH! In Rufus' own words: I want Sephiroth DEAD. That simple sentence in Rebirth was PRETTY CLEAR to me. I mean if someone murdered my dad like that, I'd end up wanting Sephiroth dead, too! I mean the man killed President Shinra back in Remake! And it was NOT Jenova! I mean how would YOU feel if Sephiroth MURDERED someone you loved? Heck, I'd want Sephiroth dead 100% in Part 3 and I HOPE it DOES happen so he doesn't come back.
Interest convergence. (My anti capitalist politic partially developed by my interest in history and socioeconomic snafus in society and third world cinema that I learned as a film major coming into play here), Rufus is a rich kid who wants to get rid of Sephiroth and he wants Cloud and the others to do it anyway because of the threat he poses to them individually and to the planet but Rufus will probably use the opportunity to endorse them as his puppets to make himself look better. If they look complacent or even on the same page, then this Avalanche splinter cell would be the team commissioned by Shinra to save the world, using them as faces for more reactors, turn Wutai in their favor even more (even more than Yuffie’s dad being in their pocket from the OG game), possibly nullifying the grassroots support Cloud and his friends get from all the anti Shinra people they’ve met up to this point and gaining more cover for atrocities they’ve committed like the Corel Reactor, Black Robes, etc.
I only pay money for new story content. I don't ever buy extra costumes or weapon packs. Even if I think it looks amazing. Because I know that if you do it once, it gets easier to justify it the next time. Even if it costs "just a little bit more."
I didn't even question it. Not that I didn't find it unusual, just that it never occurred to me that it might be unusual. I've never been on a ship, cruise or otherwise, so I have frame of reference for it outside of things like the movie, Titanic.
Each Mothercrystal had one of the Ultima race inside it. So Joshua only sealed one inside his chest. That is why he says they were getting stronger. Each time one was freed Ultima Collective became more powerful. I believe Ultima's true form are Ifrits. Clive says that his body couldn't handle the power because the curse is finally taking hold of him. Throughout the game, Clive is the only one not effected my the curse.. After healing Joshua and possibly using Raise on him, he realizes this body can't handle all the power I'm in the Joshua lived and wrote the book camp. Ending the memory montage on the baby Joshua being born symbolizes birth and Joshua is the Phoenix. Ultima needed Phoenix and Ifrit to use Raise (says this is the spell in the Tomes.} Joshua says this earlier after Odin. I think Metia is magical and represents magic leaving the world. Also the Founder was a man and was one of the Fallen who created a society without magic. He founded Rosaria. It says this in the Lore if go to the Tomes.
@michellearmstrong2585 - Thanks for the insights! Really interesting -- appreciate the share. I especially like the idea of the montage ending on baby Joshua symbolizing potentially be born again. - Jolie
I'm going to be honest, I didn't really consider the morality of their actions in the OG. Part of that, though, is due to the lack of immediately noticeable fallout to their bombing runs. You see the reactor go *BOOM* and then some people running around on the streets. It isn't until Cait Sith calls them out later in the game that it hits that it wasn't a 100% good thing that they did I think Remake did a better job at showing just what a big deal that action really was. Ironically, the game also shows that the horror and mayhem wasn't really their fault. They accept responsibility (particularly Jessie) but their goal was to stop the reactor with minimal fallout. In neither version does anyone bring up the murders of innocent security guards who were just doing their jobs.
I find Aerith's choice of words interesting. Because she doesn't say "Cloud" but "boys." Which suggests she is either unsure how Tifa might react or that Cloud isn't the only one on her mind. They do have conversations about Cloud later on but there's no specific call back to this particular conversation. If I had to guess; why this scene is in there is tied to Aerith's fate. The things left unsaid or the proverbial "unfinished business." I'm also on the side of wanting to know where that conversation was going to go. I have a suspicion that it has to do with the similarities between Cloud and Zack.
I wanted it to continue cause it’s another aspect of Tifa and Aerith being girlfriends and they have the BEST friendship out of all the characters in this trilogy so far. Yuffie and Barrett are a close second. No, that subject never gets brought back up. It is a pretty healthy and realistic thing to bring up cause as Jolie said, they’re crushing on the same guy, and since Tifa and Aerith are written so much better than most other characters who would delve into this topic it kept me on the hook.
That's a nice figure. I don't have any figures from XVI. In fact, I bought my first FF character this year with the PlayArts Rebirth Tifa figure. I've been saving to track down Cloud next.
I just love the incongruity of it. Barret is probably the most self-serious party member, and him being oblivious to how ridiculous he looks really sells the humor. It's kind of like Batman wearing yellow rubber gloves and an apron to do dishes.
