Wow the insurance is way cheaper in US so is maintenance. In South America usually the insurance is between 67 up to 82 k and the prices start around 2.8 millions that is including taxes.
Your stats are a bit off , depends on which version. I picked up a 1996 VodoChody L-39 that was upgraded to L-39NG+ specs . De-tipped and wet wing , Genesys avionics , Garret Code 1 turbofan . Will do Mach .089 and 2000 miles with extra drop tanks . Also sports a twin 23mm cannon , unfortunately it has been pinned and welded . Just for looks . It is a blast to fly and will definitely pull 7g , it is rated up to 9g , however I am not . A brief 7g is my max , that was with an experienced Ex F-18 pilot to man the controls in case I passed out . Pressurized cabin and onboard Oxygen. 39,000 no problems.
No parachute involved (unless you carry a reserve). That is a “glider,” or “wing.” It’s actually designed to be an AWFUL parachute. It an aerofoil: it makes lift; a parachute cancels lift. Just being that guy, but if you’re going to make a video as an explanation of something, don’t immediately start by calling it the complete opposite of what it is😊
Love all of your videos! I'm casting my vote for a video like this on the M20s :) Would you ever do any consulting for someone like me looking to buy their first plane?
Thanks for this... Love the whole Vans line.... However, I have to point out that as an RV4 builder and Pilot, I CAN accommodate my Golf Clubs....AND a PAX ....!!!! Cheers.
I was hoping when the graphic of all the twins were stacking that the SR71 would pop up for a split second at the end. So you'd be like wait.....did I just see that. It IS a twin 😂
I see you're two inches taller than I am and with this plane's small overall size I have a VERY specific scenario to ask you please, sir. Would you gladly fly this plane 3 hours XC, land for lunch and a fillup, get back in, and fly another 3 hours to your destination? Would you take the next day to do fun things and then on the third day do the whole thing again in reverse? OR would that not be fun? Would that be painful? Just your opinion if you don't mind. Thank you!!!!
Ah ya. I have, though without autopilot I wouldn't do it again. Truth be told 6 hour cruise I'd be tempted to stop twice. 2 hours 3 times. I haven't gone that far since installing autopilot yet so not sure
- What is the depreciation curves of these planes? It's never listed. I'm supposing a C150 will hardly depreciate, while a brand new DA42 will lose more value. - Fixed & Variable costs don't include the depreciation either, I presume. - I think it should be included in "cost to own", given that it is a cost. An old plane for 100'000$ which will barely depreciate, flying at 1.5$/nm or a newer plane at 400.000$ which will lose perhaps 20.000$/year, flying at 1.5$/nm are not comparable, which is not clear from these tables.
