Direct from Las Vegas, "Carpenters Legacy” is the definitive act celebrating the music and legacy of the brother-sister duo. Starring Sally Olson as Karen Carpenter & Ned Mills as Richard Carpenter, the show features hits including “We’ve Only Just Begun”, “Close to You”, “Superstar” and much more. "Carpenters Legacy: A Christmas Portrait" recreates the Carpenters' 1977 & ‘78 Christmas TV specials, including the holiday classics "Merry Christmas Darling" and "The Christmas Song”. Olson is the only Karen Carpenter impersonator to perform with Legends In Concert. Carpenters Legacy maintains a Las Vegas residency in the V Theater at Planet Hollywood and is a Best of Las Vegas winner: Impersonator & Tribute Show.
The album “Carpenters Legacy: 1976” features the Carpenters' classics, in addition to a unique twist on “Superstar” (performed in Spanish with bolero and reggaeton influences.)
❤Thank you for this video. I have loved the Carpenters for 50 years. I have been honored to meet Richard years ago. Such a respectful man. Karen has been asleep for over 40 years now. When she awakens, we will hear her sweet voice again. I even named my business , Yesterday Once More , which is my favourite song of theirs. Gracious greetings from coastal Mississippi ❤
You are most welcome, Scott! We had such an amazing time meeting Richard and we wanted to share those moments with other Carpenters fans like yourself. If you’re ever in Las Vegas, come see our show at the V Theater in Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. ☺️
It a ,,, good ol American 🇺🇸 thing for me and my generation, we loved these songs for a life time , thank you for that ,thanks BigAl California, praise Jesus Christ grace amen
Wow! Thank you, Richard, for inviting us in... February 4, 1983, my innocence and childhood ended... You both crafted musical spiritual soul food unlike all others... Thank you... "Few are the choices we are given. The sands of time pass quickly by." Love, from Jimmy Pinet Winchell, Dallas, TX.
I so thank you guys ; you are so talented and I plan on seeing you in Arlington in September. I hope to meet you guys one day. Thank you again.. I know there is a lot of work that goes into making this
You are most welcome! And thank you for your kind words. Looking forward to seeing you at our show in Arlington in September. We will do a meet-and-greet after the show so you will be able to meet us then. Yes, there's definitely a lot work that goes into what we do. It's a labor of love and we are honored to share our joy on stage with audiences every day. 😊
Yes, absolutely! Ned is amazing and has what it takes to play Richard. P.S. Things have been super busy so I haven't finished the Downey Theatre show video compilation, but will have it done soon. 😉
Richard has Karen's Mercedes (there's a photo me standing next to it in the thumbnail image for the following video- see link below.) Her Jaguar is owned by a guy in Florida now. I'm on the waiting list. lol ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-o0VIDrhyI2Y.htmlsi=h3dwx4RqYDu6COmI
@@artistbrindle Yes! I've had my eye on Karen's jag for years. Another Carpenters fan and friend of mine (Steve Manzi) has actually been in touch with the current owner, so he's next in line. Too bad that jags are so high maintenance though.
Thank you so much. Yes, I was a little nervous wondering whether or not Richard would like the painting. I was very relieved to see his happy and nostalgic reaction when it was presented to him. I'm assuming that your RU-vid channel image is your own artwork? Very nice!
@@SallyOlsonCarpentersLegacy thank you, yes my profile is a watercolor of Mick Jagger . I’m an illustrator but first and foremost an unapologetic fan artist ;). Carpenters lover since I was around six.
I grew up with '70's radio, which of course included the Carpenters in heavy rotation. Karen is my favorite female singer. ❤ Sally, you are, by far, the closest to match her voice. It is truly EXTRAORDINARY!! 👏👏👏👏 Hopefully, you will go back on tour soon. 🙏
Thank you so very much! I sincerely appreciate your comment. I've been performing as Karen Carpenter since 2015 and perfecting my craft as an impersonator and tribute artist every day. I'm blessed to naturally have a voice very similar to Karen's, but the perfection (or close to perfection) comes in the details...attention to the vocal inflections, phrasing, gestures, mannerisms, etc. We are busy at our Las Vegas residency in the V Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino Mondays through Thursdays. Our touring schedule will pick up again this fall. Where are you located? Thanks again for your lovely words. ♥💕🎼🎵🎹
@@SallyOlsonCarpentersLegacy You're very welcome and Thank You SO much for all of the replies! 😊 You really are blessed with an extraordinary voice. I don't know a lot about all of the technical details, but I can hear Karen's sound in your phrasing, especially in the higher notes. It gives me literal chills! 🥰 I can hear your improvement in just the last few years too. 😊 I think you were close to where I live in the South on your last tour. I missed it, but searched for you and Ned on RU-vid and was amazed! 🤗 Don't worry, I won't miss your next tour, if you are close enough. 😉
@@LM... Thank you again so much for your kind words. Yes, I've paid very close attention to Karen's phrasing, vocal inflections, movements and mannerisms. All those things are so important to recreate the full essence of Karen, in addition to the tonal voice quality. I would agree that I have improved in the past few years. I'm sure it's mainly due to the repetition as we perform our show a minimum of four times a week. Practice makes perfect! Where are you located in the South? We have more tour dates coming up this fall and winter.
Rwally enjoyed your videos. Im in my mid 40's and have been a Carpenters fan since i was about 14. I was captivated in school hearing their song Top of the World and its beautiful melody. Their Voice of the Heart album is a real tearjerker, especially Now and Look to your dreams. I play piano myself and love all the major 7th's and Richard's frequent modulations. He is a wonderful all round musician. I have managed to get a ticket to one of the 'Evening with Richard Carpenter' shows that he's doing in the UK. I'm from Liverpool but now live on the Scottish Isle of Lewis. I first came here as a teenager in holiday, right at the time i was getting into the Carpenters and also i became a huge fan of Petula Ckark at the same time. So for me the Carpenters music also evokes happy memories of holidays in a beautiful part of Scotland, where i now live. Really looking forward to seeing Richard when he comes over here in Sept. God bless you
❤❤❤❤❤ Sally, I can’t wait to see the version from Downey you’re posting shortly 😁👍! This is so warm 😊 - I even get a kick out of the way your voice is actually clearer and with more edge than Karen 🙂 - great singing, even if it isn’t a *complete* carbon copy of the original 😁👍!
Why thank you! I would never expect to be a complete carbon copy of Karen as everyone is unique. However, I'm blessed that to come pretty close to the original. You can expect the Downey Theatre video compilation in the next couple of days. 😊
It took me a little longer than I was hoping…I finally had the time to put the Downey Theatre video clip compilation together last night. Here’s the link… ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lfTSdg2lE-c.htmlsi=dweljgpQw3-klk3e
Fantastic 🤩! Even all the little chirps and slight voice-breaks that are the fine points of a Karen vocal ❤🎤! I trust this also went over well in Downey 😁👍! Still can’t get to the other videos, at least not directly - I know you’ve sung it, but is there video of you and Ned doing “Hurting Each Other”? I regard it, especially the opening, as being another true test of “Getting Karen Right” 🤩 (requires the extreme low-end)!
Thank you, THANK YOU!! I love hearing that. Yes, Downey went wonderfully. I mentioned in a comment to you that I just posted a little while ago on the Bacharach Medley video that I will soon be uploading a video compilation of our April 24th Downey Theatre show. I just checked the video clips and the excerpt of "Hurting Each Other" in the Hits Medley is indeed there. Yay! I will post it soon. Meanwhile, you can also check out our studio recording of the Hits Medley on our recent album "Carpenters Legacy: 1976". It's available on Spotify and other streaming platforms at the following link... distrokid.com/hyperfollow/carpenterslegacy/1976
Here I am, Sally - I tried replying directly to you below, but this board is acting weird 🤪 … I wanted to add that the lower-end of your range is getting lower and stronger ❤️ - that’s where Karen lives, as you know well 😁 (her so-called “basement” register)! I was trying to rummage around in this site to see if I could find a recent reading of “Rainy Days and Mondays”, but couldn’t get to any of the other videos 😮😅! I think that’s the lowest Karen went on-record - I think she’s down into male tenor range 😮! Just exquisite 🥰!
Sorry that you are having issues with the comment board. That is strange. Thank you for your kind words about the lower-end of my range. That's where I love singing the most and I think it's where I most sounds like Karen. I just realized that I don't have a full version video of "Rainy Days And Mondays", but I do have an excerpt from the very first version of my promo video that was filmed back in 2017. This is actually one of the only moments from the original promo video that we keep in our current promo video because it came out so well, both visually and sound-wise. I just posted the excerpt on our RU-vid channel so that it's easy to find (see link below.) In our show, "Rainy Days And Mondays" is in the context of the Hits Medley, so naturally it isn't the entire song. I'm putting together a compilation of video clips from our recent show at the Downey Theatre on April 24 (part of the Carpenters 55th Anniversary Celebration). The video will contain "Rainy Days And Mondays" as performed in the Hits Medley. I will upload it to our RU-vid channel soon, so stay tuned!! 😀 Rainy Days And Mondays (Excerpt): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_9Djzvw7A94.htmlsi=3c6nP4l6_1J5BOOG
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. The Bacharach Medley is definitely one of the trickiest Carpenters numbers. We perform it in our live stage show as well.😊
“Bacharach Medley” is one of my favorite Carpenters musical piece. Sally, you did magnificent job with your interpretation, and singing in a “closet”! It must have great acoustics. Enjoyed very much, as with all your Carpenters Legacy performances! 💜🎧🎤🎼🥁🎹🎵💜
There was some “waffle foam” acoustic paneling on parts of the walls, but this is fantastic sound, for not being recorded in a true isolation booth, as vocals sometimes are - Sally can fill you in on that 🙂!
Thank you! We love the Bacharach Medley too. It's a challenge, but also a lot of fun. We've since moved into a more sophisticated recording studio since this was done. However, we got a great result here just the same.
This is one of my most favorite Christmas songs. Karen had the ability to sing seemingly effortless. It seems like you're able to capture this facet of her unique talent. Beautifully done!
I saw them when I was about 12 (early 70’s) Front row, in Lake Tahoe. She came up and sang to me, and later had me sing a few bars of Doe-a-deer-….I’ll never forget those boots Richard was wearing, as he tapped his foot at the piano. I had to go out and get some of them…lol
Thanks for sharing that memory. How amazing that must have been! I'm wondering if the boots Richard was wearing at their show in Lake Tahoe were similar to the ones he wore in their 1976 show at the New London Theatre. If so, Ned Mills who plays Richard in our show "Carpenters Legacy" wears a very similar pair. 😉
@@SallyOlsonCarpentersLegacy I think they were black, sleek, with high heels…been a long time:) I recently did my own act (magic) at the Carpenter Theater in Long Beach, where my sister (who was the big KC fan of our family back then) came out, and we checked out her drum set. Such great memories! Miss her, left us wayyyy too soon!
They had so many great hits! Here's a video of us performing "We've Only Just Begun"... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-svKaZw1KSg8.htmlsi=OnKtUOMBy73-nsI2
Amazing performance! Carpenters Legacy is the closest thing to the Carpenters. Sally looks and sounds just like Karen AND she plays the drums too! She even has the same mannerisms. It's uncanny. And Ned is just like Richard with his amazing piano skills. Everyone should see this show!!!
I don't think Karen got the help, she desperately needed. A very fragile woman, she was the white Whitney Houston of the day. There will never be another like her. Sue Lawley interviewed Karen with her brother. Sue Lawley's questions to Karen, were absolutely discusting. Yet Karen Carpenter, will be remembered for many years to come. In Sue Lawley's case, Sue WHO? Rip Karen Carpenter ❤⭐️🎶🙏
