Welcome to the channel! My name's Gisselle, I'm a budget solo traveler and have been to 6 out of the 7 continents, visiting 20+ countries, living for some time in Sydney, Australia as well as in Saigon, Vietnam. I am currently living in Cairo, Egypt and exploring all this beautiful country has to offer while visiting nearby countries as well. I am a lover of language and a culturally curious lady just making my way through life one day at a time. I live to learn, I love to travel and explore, ride motorcycles, try new things and meet interesting people anywhere and everywhere in the world. Come along with me as I solo travel the globe and discover fascinating new places, try delicious local food, meet lovely people, and share a moment in time on this beautiful planet, our Earth.
I remember my dad telling me that in Iraq if a woman had any kind of "funky" non-natural hair color like platinum blonde, blue, or red like yours, that it would be seen as a sign of promiscuity 😂. I'm just wondering if it's kind of the same in Egypt now or not? I'd imagine not.
Helpful video, Gisselle, covering several useful aspects of your visit to Budapest. I was there on a brief visit many years ago when I did a coach tour of "Historic European Cities". I remember being impressed by the beautiful architecture, and I also remember visiting the iconic Heroes' Square which is a major attraction in the city. Thank you for giving us your perspective of one of the great cities of Europe. At the same time, I could tell that you were itching to get back to your beloved Egypt, and I look forward to your next offering from there, which I know will be interesting! 😀William
@@Gventures I know right..lol.😂and now I remember you said it,but my memory has been messed up since I’m moving and have so many different things on my mind.😂
Visiting my mother! She went on a trip there, and as I don't want to fly back to the US and I hadn't seen her in a few years, I figured it was the perfect opportunity 😁
Curious about phone plans. I’m planning to be there in Sept and want to make sure I have a solid phone plan with good data. Do you have recommendations? Thanks!!!
I'm making an updated video about SIM cards right now and it should upload within the next 2 weeks! 😁 I'll be showing the prices, different companies, etc. 👍😎
Nice professional clear explanation on the youtube videos superb! i am Irish passport holder though originally from India i believe i can board flight to Amman just without any visa and get the visa on arrival should not be rejected thanks
@@markshaw1629 Maybe! I never know where I'll be at a certain time, I can be pretty spontaneous, but also am planning a motorbike trip for the winter. But message me and see what happens! And good luck with the visa stuff 😎
@@Gventures I am very happy to have you among us in Egypt. I hope that your trips inside Egypt or inside Cairo include visits to modern parks and places for shopping and entertainment. I miss you very much.
@@papa3amr158 Oh of course I have been to some parks and shopping malls, I filmed the fseekh video inside one of the parks 😁 But honestly I do not like shopping, so I don't go to malls. Also, not allowed to film inside the malls anyway. Next video I will be back in Cairo! 😁😍
Hey Gisselle, amazing posts of life in the real world as usual!! Totally unrelated random question tho but any idea the best way to get to Aswan from Cairo on a budget especially if only have 36hrs from when arrive to when leave Cairo, lol??
Thanks Eddie! Ah, I think you already know what my answer will be 😅 Best way from Cairo to Aswan, with that kind of time frame?! A flight. Even then, you will be pushing it. Why do you want to rush down to Aswan? There is no other way to get there with the time you have, a train takes like 19 hours, a bus even longer because you have to take local buses part of the way, there isn't a bus like Go Bus that gets you all the way there. Yeah, no such thing as budget when it comes to tight time schedules, sorry 😕
@@Gventures Thank-you Gisselle, hmm yeah I know dilemma!! Not that tight an itinerary overall for my trip but just didn't fancy Cairo apart from a day doing all the pyramids thingy, lol! I've travelled loads places and think like yourself prefer to experience the local way so not daunted by a long travel day. Was hoping to go by 1st class Spanish train but don't think will get there in time to book tickets, agh! Online/group chat not that helpful, even my hostel staying in ((Madina) not too helpful, bless em. Not to worry sure will wing it somehow, ha ha!! Guess you're outa Budapest now, was there few yrs ago, loved it. Hope managed visit the ruin bars or even the 'musical fountains'. Thanks for taking the time to reply, much appreciated and looking forward to watching your next post......
@@eddielecornu4003 Well, there's plenty of local things to do in Cairo too, but if big cities isn't your thing, then yeah you will hate it 😂Long days of travel is certainly a part of budget traveling ahaha, I think the longest bus ride I've been on was 24 hours from the capital of Laos to the capital of Vietnam during Tet. I don't know anything about the Spanish bus, I usually just take the cheapest option with GoBus, and the bus does take a long time to get down there, definitely not within the time frame you were mentioning. Budapest was great! My friend also has a YT channel and made a video about the ruin bars a few years back so yeah, I know about them, it's a gorgeous city with lots of history, I just didn't research that much about it! Good luck with figuring out your route to Aswan 🙏
Hi! Budapest local here. The prices at the restaurant Frici papa is kinda the lowest you will get at the city. Around 8 usd for a goulash is not really normal. I eat at local places and I pay around 11-14 usd for a similar thing and even that is not that expensive.
Wow! So that was a good deal....thanks for letting me know! I am just unaccustomed to these prices after living in Egypt I guess 😅 Really good food though, I was unexpectedly and pleasantly surprised with Hungarian food! And Budapest is beautiful ❤️
@@fadohungaro I'm not even sure what the average salary of a Hungarian citizen is, but $8 USD for a meal isn't that great in my opinion either. And $11-$14 is crazy! I was talking to a local guy while there that was telling me nobody eats out anymore because it's so expensive, only visitors are eating at restaurants. While I am sure that isn't entirely true, I get his point. Inflation around the world in the last few years has been insane
@@Gventures The net (!) salary of an average Hungarian person is around $ 800 (not according to official statistics, but according to reality) a month. The cost of living - particularly in Budapest - is very high compared to the salaries. And yes, the person you met said it right: it is no longer typical of Hungarians to go to restaurants or to those beautiful Turkish-era baths on the Buda side of the river Danube as they cannot afford these anymore.
@@fadohungaro Yeah, that's not a high salary for the cost of living. I live in Egypt and don't make a lot of money, but more than most Egyptians make. Still, prices in Budapest were high for me. Inflation sucks
At Frici papa's (to be pronounced Fritzi, meaning Uncle Fred's tavern) you had beef stew, however gulyás - which is thought to be a stew - is actually a beef soup with vegetables, so you will have to try it as well, I mean the real one!
Ahaha, well thanks for clearing that up! I said "Freaky Papa's" and as soon as i said it, thought "Nah....I'm not going with that name" 😂 I have since tried more goulash or gulyas that was more of a soup and had vegetables, it was also very delicious! I am so far loving all the Hungarian food I have tried. Thank you! 🙏
@@fadohungaro Yeah, that's the trouble with RU-vid, unless it's a live video, it's always usually a few days later from filming to upload time. But thank you! And I would like to return, it really is a nice city, I liked it a lot. I was in Vienna a few days before Budapest and, not trying to knock Vienna, but I much, much preferred Budapest 😅 City is beautiful and has vibes 😎
🤣🤣 You have a problem with my showing how beautiful Egypt is? Go make your own videos then if you have a problem with a foreigner doing that. And by the way, this is a local market selling vegetables, and the prices are listed. It's not a touristic market like Khan El Khalili. That should be obvious to anyone with a brain
Egypt is waiting for you 😁 ❤️Anytime I leave Cairo I enjoy my travels, but there's a piece of me just itching to go back too. I love it a lot, VERY happy to live in Egypt 😍
Welcome to my hometown, dear Gisselle! I am really impressed that you pronounce the name of the capital city correctly! I would be happy to meet you for a little chat. How about that?
after seeing the tour you did to the new administrative capital im in love with this channel, i wish i could be like you when i grow up a travel vlogger!
Must be nice to be able to film without being mobbed by the locals. It looks so calm and peaceful compared to Cairo. And there you go with your "costed" again, ha, ha, ha. Thanks for another wonderful video, and from one American to another, enjoy your upcoming 4th of July! 😉
It is calm and peaceful, which to me translates to a bit boring, at least at this current moment in my life 😅 But Budapest is a very beautiful city, I just choose to live in Cairo because it's a lot more lively and I love the energy! And the food and people and music, etc. etc. I don't understand the "costed" thing with you, you know it's a word, right??😂 I'm not a big "patriot" or whatever, I also chose to leave the US for reasons, and don't ever intend to live there again, but....eat a burger for me 😆
@@GventuresYou're correct, costed is a word, my apologies. 😟 Must be a regional thing. Budapest does look beautiful, and we'll definitely enjoy something off the grill for you on the 4th. I'm not a good patriot either. 😉
@@fv1291 Lol, I do miss some American BBQ though, I must admit. I don't have space for a grill on my apartment balcony without burning the building down, so I can't grill my own food, or I would have made some BBQ chicken ages ago 😅I joked that I would just get a grill and cook it in the street outside my building, surrounded by a pack of hungry dogs and cats and getting stared at by my neighbors like I am insane "What is that foreign lady doing now?!" 😆😂
great video spent time two years ago in Budapest on way to Passau, Austria the goulash with real Hungarian paprika is great next to Austria and Egypt Hungary is one of the best places i have been lucky enough to visit
Hi Giselle its 12.31am here in good old Melbourne Town ,I got big surprise , you are in the country of my birth as I am Hungarian and yes speak the language, its on the cards a visit in the near future, have not been their for many years, I have a question why Hungary ? I love goulash my favorite soup yum I make it sometimes well as always loved your video travel safe Hugs Evie xoxo
I was meeting someone here, actually. But I've also always had an interest to go, I've heard good things about Budapest. It hasn't disappointed! And the food has been a pleasant surprise! Love it, the paprikash is also delicious!
What a great hostel. I’ve wanted to go back and will have to check this one out. Kind of a bummer to hear it’s gotten so expensive. But I guess that’s to be expected!
It is nice to get away from the oppressive heat of the Egyptian summer. There is an annual airshow held in Budapest and the airplanes fly low and slow over the Danube River right by that amazing building-not certain if it is Parliament Building or Castle. I believe that airshow is in the summer, don’t remember. It is amazing to me the comfort you have with these hostels. I had to sleep in barracks when in the military service but the thought to sleeping in a room with strangers while travelling, I would be afraid to do that. Enjoy your travels and keep safe.
You may have noticed I don't ever answer that question, and I don't intend to 😂 But I am making a video about the Sphinx Airport on my way back in, and will be showing the visa on arrival in that video
