The Poorhammer Podcast covers a variety of content for Warhammer games and the surrounding hobbies, from in-game strategy to army building to collecting and painting new armies. Our goal is to help Warhammer be approachable and welcoming to all players and hobbyists.
As someone who’s played Votann through out 10th, play regularly 3 times a week, took them to a few events, exactly what bricky said I don’t care, there alright where they are but there’s just so little variety that it’s just stale, I’m not sure even a codex would help?
In general, guard basic infantry should be worth 5, sisters, aeldari, orks, admech, etc. 10 and space marines 20. The fact that intercessors are too expensive at 16, while guard are at 6 means, there is very very few space to design the others well.
3:35 thank you, i was taking my time to get into the Cadia lore, i saw some books and all, but well, now i know that it was a terrible idea to begin with. dodged
I made black legion first and recently got into Black Templars. Both prefer closer range, so felt very similar but the Templara were more fun. Stripping my legion of paint and going Iron warriors now. I want my armies to feel diffrent
Soooo, starting sisters player here who went primary white and then black > yes i know what i did and no im not changing it but would i do it again? Fuck that
The reason that Krieg shovels is a meme is because of All Quiet On The Western Front. In that book they mention that the standard issue WWI German bayonet would get stuck in enemies, so they suggested fighting with shovels.
Why do Space Wolves now start with what was once IH's army rules? FNP. Sad times. I do agree, the SW rules are great for what Crusade should be built like
On the subject of Pivot taxes/ & Overhanging models, GW are really gonna need to clarify things in a FAQ due to one issue which will cause a lot of arguments: Large vehicles with clear round bases. RAW a Hammerhead can pivot freely and squeeze itself through gaps half it's size because while they use the body for measurements, there's nothing stating that's also the case for these two changes.
I think the new rule is ok if you are not a jerk and try to win at any cost. If you understand that this is a game and everyone want to have fun with this game on weekends I think you will do fine in this edition.
Thank you, Beryllio. At the end of Elden Ring, the Tarnished looks at the screen and breaks into a Mongolian throat singing rendition of Billie Eillish's Bad Guy. It was really bizarre, but somewhat charming.
See like. I started with CSM and thousand sons. So by the time I got to like standard space marines they were boring because of their lack of trim. Idk. CSM trim is a chore but like. It’s a fun one for me
So a chunk of Custodes forge world are probably gonna get put into legends, right? I can only imagine that would mean that they get a couple plastic units… for Horus Heresy
57:30 I don't have an army yet but if I ever get around to it it will be a Trazyn pokeball mashup - as close to the stuff he used on Solemnes as possible.
Litterly tried to return the audio book 2 hours in and couldn't on mobile......this book litterly resulted in me canceling audible. Great story, terrible audio book.
I'm pretty glad to see most of these changes, the game should be healthier. It's a shame that I can't use my burna bomba because planes still aren't worth the points
So I'm curious about the 15 hours thing. Even though it's pretty explicitly confirmed aren't there also countless less explicit soft-counters to the notion? Take something like the Fall of Cadia. That went on for significantly longer then fifteen hours. Are there not millions of IG on Cadia who were there before the start and therefore were around the whole time? Yes, some amount were killed in that 15 hour window... but not all of them. Hell there were survivors. This would apply to any major conflict involving the Guard, right? This might be a case where the canon is just nonsense because it sounds grim dark. Or you're playing fast and loose with what does and does not count as "time served". 15 on the front line? I buy that 100%. Beyond that? I don't know. If the average life time is fifteen hours then that certainly implies that the IG either win every fight in less then fifteen hours, average, while suffering catastrophic losses or that they lose in the same time period due to those same loses. That just doesn't add up. There's too many giant conflicts that last exponentially longer then 15 hours and have Imperial Guard present throughout. And it's not like the enemy is just letting a constant uninterrupted flow of reinforcements from out of system enter the warzone and land behind enemy lines. Especially if they need near total reinforcement every 15 hours due to, on average, most of their soldiers having been killed. Nah. Canon or not I don't buy it.
@1:39:00 FINALY someone with a bit of sense 100% the admech changes are nowhere near enough, its still a $2000 horde army all the people gushing over the changes entirely ignoring that we are still going to be fielding 100 models, we are still going to be barely over 1.5pts/$, we are still going to be one of the lowest damage armies its a step in the right direction but its a step....there is still a god damn marathon ahead before admech is actually in a good spot
Ok, first, couple short points: Yay Berillio doing an awesome job. Yay Bricky being back; I may in fact buy objective markers just to make you sell out again. Yay wonderful episode and sounds like good changes for you all who actually play this game (i prefer ones with good rules, but love me some Poorhammer). But, a condensed version of my rant: fhut the actual wuck is with GW and being unable to figure out base sizes?! This is kinda inportant for basic rules and gameplay, but no, we cant get any specific guidance and rulings on what goes on what. and yet, in good games like Infinity N4, your base size and veryical cylinder height is a stat on your unit's sheet, and includes not only a specific measurement for those two measurements, it also includes cardboard templates for visually checking if your model is visible within that space even if the model is spindly, there are nice acrylic ones available for purchase, and there is a specifically sized "x" printed on them and defined in the rules where, if you can trace line of sight to that sized piece of the model you have the ability to target it and there is a clear explanation of that. I dont play it competetively, but Infinity also includes hidden info, decoy models that dont actually exist, secret objectives, a working app which includes every unit and profile, which also connects to the wiki including full explanatipns of all rules and any updates that have changed them and changelogs and also connects to the international tournament system allowing you to directly upload your lists for any tournament event while also seeing which missions will be included in any event, abd with rules for proxying models that no longer exist for sale or are unavailable for any reason . . . But GW is the "competetive" game that cant even figure out what sized bases common models have. Thank you for listening to my rant, now please try Infinity. Or Battletech Alpha Strike. Cyberpunk Combat Zone is really good, too, and has a campaign system built into it's core rules.
I don't know if this was intentional or not with the Admech changes, but Cawl gets bonuses in Pariah Nexus primary or secondary missions that care about Battleline.
